Circulating Files are collections of verbatim quotes of what Edgar Cayce said during his readings
on a given subject or, in some cases everything. We have medical circulating files which focus on
the over 9,000 health-related readings with subjects from Acidity-Alkalinity to Weight Loss. We
also have non-medical circulating files on a broad range of topics, for example Egypt: Sphinx,
Pyramids, and Hall of Records, Fear and Its Far-Reaching Effects, Advice to Parents, Serving in
Accord with Ideals, and Business Advice.

Each circulating file is simply a collection of reading quotes or full readings given for different
individuals on a similar subject or disease. The A.R.E. cannot and does not suggest treatments
for physical ailments nor make claims about the effectiveness of the therapies. We encourage
anyone working with the health readings to do so under a doctor's care and advice.

The circulating files support the research aspect of the Cayce work. We appreciate any feedback
informing us of progress made in improving ones life or achieving good health by applying
suggestions given in the readings. Please send any feedback (testimonies, experiences, results,
etc.) to:

Introduction to the Cayce Readings on

Health and Healing
No matter what illness or ailment concerns us, certain basic principles about
health and healing are relevant. These are the premises upon which all of the Cayce
health information rests. For those who would like to make a more careful study of
these basic principles, the recommended Circulating File is entitled Principles of
Healing. Here, in essence, are the ideas found in that file. They may prove to be very
useful to your study of the specific ailment that requires healing for you.
The first fundamental idea about healing requires that we maintain a creative
balance between two principles:

1. All healing comes from the infinite - that is, from attunement and harmony
with our spiritual source. The infinite is just as accessible and available in the
visible, physical world as it is in the invisible realm.
2. At the same time, each person must take responsibility for his or her own
healing process. No one can simply sit back and wait passively for healing to
occur.

This second principle - the need for self-responsibility - can take many forms.
For example, healing requires attunement, and no one knows better than ourselves
exactly what has gotten us out of attunement. Often, if we look closely at our lives,
we can see (without needing a gifted medical clairvoyant such as Edgar Cayce)
what's causing our illness.
To illustrate self-responsibility further, the human body has a marvelous,
innate drive to heal itself, but we've got to do our part to help. A broken bone will
naturally try to mend; however, the fracture needs to be set properly for the healing
to be complete and effective. Cayce stresses the healing ability of the body:
Remember, the body does gradually renew itself constantly. Do not look upon
the conditions which have existed as not being able to be eradicated from the
system. . . Hold to that KNOWLEDGE - and don't think of it as just theory -
that the body CAN, the body DOES renew itself! 1548-3

Another important principle relates to energy medicine, a new field for which
Edgar Cayce was a pioneer. His readings consistently speak of the roles played by
vibrations or vibratory forces - right down to the level of individual atoms. According
to Cayce, there is a type of consciousness that exists in each atom. Although most
of the passages about the atomic physics of healing seem rather esoteric, it might be
easier to follow the analogy of the attunement of a stringed musical instrument. A
violin or piano that is out of tune makes sour, discordant music - symbolic of disease
or illness. Just as a skilled musician can bring the instrument back into attunement,
we experience healing when our vibrations - right down to the atomic level - are
adjusted in a correct manner. In essence, all healing is bringing the vibrations into
harmony from within.
Balance among body, mind, and spirit is another key to Cayce's philosophy of
healing. For healing to be complete and lasting, we must recognize and meet the
needs of each of these three levels. Virtually no illness or disease can be treated
successfully at only one of these three levels.

DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

What's more, Cayce affirms that the human body will naturally stay healthy -
and even rejuvenate itself - if a kind of internal balance can be maintained. Dis-ease
starts when one part of the body draws energy from another part. One portion of an
organism may become overcharged with the creative life force, while another portion
becomes undernourished. The result is a gradual disintegration of the body and the
onset of illness.
The opposite of this sort of disintegration is rejuvenation. The readings assert
that we are continuously rebuilding our bodies. Within any seven-year period, each
cell is replaced. If we'll allow it, our bodies will transform any problem and resuscitate
any condition. But our ingrained habits usually block this healing potential - the
habits of action and, even more potent, the habits of mind.
What role do drugs and medicine play in the healing process? Cayce's
philosophy clearly sees a place for them, but warns of misunderstanding how they
work and of expecting more of them than is possible. Any healing method attempts
to create an experience of oneness, in hopes of then stimulating a similar response
in the body. For some people in some situations, a drug may be the best way to
accomplish this - just as in other cases surgery may be the best way to stimulate
healing. Medicines can be a practical application of the one life force. Occasionally
they must be very potent in their reactions in order to get the patient through an
acute illness. But Cayce from time to time encouraged people to consider the herbal
formulas he recommended to be tonics and stimulants, rather than medicines.
The dangerous side of medicines is their potential to diminish the body's own
healing work. This is what Cayce alluded to when he warned about palliatives that
deceive the soul with half-truths and temporary relief. It's also what he meant when
he warned that we shouldn't come to rely on any condition outside of ourselves that
could be assimilated by the body inwardly. All of this is to say, take the medications
prescribed by the physician you trust. Keep in mind this thought: what those
chemicals can do is temporarily - and somewhat artificially - give your body an
experience of greater oneness.
Healing that really takes hold and lasts must come from changing one's inner
consciousness and vibration. That happens most effectively from consistent and
persistent human effort (that is, engaging one's desires, purposes, and will) -
something that pills all too easily allow us to skip.

These have been long-standing. Do not take the treatments just a few days,
or even a few weeks, and expect to be well - and then revert to old
conditions. But be consistent and persistent! Have periods when these will be
taken (that is, ALL of those things indicated) for two, three to four weeks.
Then rest by leaving them off a week. And then be just as patient and just as
persistent as though you were beginning all over again. 976-1

Cayce's healing philosophy includes other insights that can help us avoid
misunderstanding. For example, one principle states that the best treatment
procedures sometimes cause a temporary worsening of conditions. If we didn't
recognize this possibility, we might give up just before the benefits begin to appear.
A closely related principle states that when a body is re-establishing its attunement,
it tends to be more sensitive. Again, if we misunderstand that heightened sensitivity,
we might not see the good that is slowly being effected.

DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

The mind is a focus of other healing principles. The unconscious mind plays a
role in many illnesses and diseases. One example of this is the karmic factor in
health problems. Memories from previous incarnations, stored in the soul mind, can
trigger problems in the body. Of course, we shouldn't go so far as to suppose that
every health challenge has past-life roots; nevertheless, the perspective of
reincarnation can help us understand what we could possibly be dealing with as we
seek healing.
The familiar Cayce axiom, Mind is the builder, leads us to wonder exactly
which attitudes and emotions best foster healing. The readings emphasize several:
Self-acceptance. As we rid ourselves of self-condemnation, we make room
for healing forces to enter.
Optimism and hope. We're encouraged to expect healing.
Patience. It's much easier and quicker to destroy health than it is to rebuild it.
We need to be willing to patiently invest whatever time is required.

Alongside these specific attitudes and emotions, we're invited to use the
creative potential of visualization to stimulate our own healing. The mind's image-
making capacity can be directed in such a way that we see the healing
transformation taking place. This is not something that's accomplished in a single
visualization session. Like all the Cayce health-promoting approaches, it requires
persistence and works best in conjunction with other healing methods.
Perhaps the most important principle of the mind's relationship to healing
concerns purposefulness. A person can experience temporarily an outer healing -
that is, in the physical body only - yet still be spiritually sick. What cures the soul? A
commitment to a purposeful life. Not just any purpose, but instead one that reflects
care for other people.
On occasion a reading from Cayce would pose this question to the person
who was ill: What would you do with your life if you were healed?
What would the body be healed for? That it might gratify its own physical
appetites? That it might add to its own selfishness? Then (if so) it had better
remain as it is. . . But first the change of heart, the change of mind, the
change of purpose, the change of intent. 3124-2
The position of Cayce's psychic source was simply this: Why correct the
physical condition unless there's also going to be an inner correction? People who
are looking for both inner and outer healing are the best candidates for restored
health and vitality. In Cayce's philosophy, healing should equip us to be more useful
to others.
With this ideal of service in mind, we might also wonder just how we can be
channels of healing to others. What principles govern our efforts to be healers to
those for whom we have concern? One principle is based on the spiritual
connections that exist between all people. It states that as we bring the experience
of oneness into our own consciousness, it can profoundly help someone else
experience oneness, attunement, and healing. Cayce's way of putting it was,
...raising the Christ Consciousness in self to such an extent as it may flow out of self
to him thou would direct it to. (281-7)
For this to be most effective, the recipient must desire such help and have
requested healing prayer. Of course, we can always pray for someone, even if that

6

individual hasn't asked us. But it's important that we not assume we know what's
needed in any person's life. For one who hasn't specifically asked for prayer, we can
simply offer prayers of protection and blessing, rather than try to direct healing
energies to that person or for a specific condition.
It is also important to remember that each reading was given for an individual.
It must be emphasized that no suggested treatments for any particular ailments
should be lifted from any individual reading and tried by another individual except
under the supervision of and with the cooperation of a physician or licensed health
care professional. However, there were many suggestions that were given over and
over, and these can be studied to find how they apply to ourselves. These healing
principles can be grouped in four categories that referred to as CARE.
Circulation moving the blood around the body through therapies such as
massage or spinal manipulation
Assimilation encouraging the body to pull the proper nutrients from the food by
eating the proper foods and in the proper combinations
Relaxation taking time to rest and let the body recuperate and counterbalance the
daily activities
Elimination removing the waste products from the body through therapies such as
sweats, colonics, and fume baths
For more information about CARE and recommendations on the lifestyle
described in the readings, please see Dr. Harold J. Reillys Handbook for Health.
There are also many verbatim collections of the readings in other Circulating Files,
Research Bulletins, and Treatment Plans for individual diseases which may be
purchased through Customer Service at 800-333-4499.
The A.R.E. is interested in having all the material in the health readings
reviewed by physicians and health care professionals who also provide summaries
of their findings in the hope that the information may prove beneficial to others.
When time and finances permit it is planned to have all the information in the health
readings read by one or more physicians and the subject matter summarized.

In summary, the Cayce readings remind us that our natural state is
wholeness and health. An innate wisdom within ourselves knows what's needed for
healing. We should expect to get well, and we should be willing to do our part to
make it possible. Those that expect little of the Lord receive little; those that expect
much receive much - if they live it! 1424-1

Intro
http://www.ehow.com/info_7841462_list-nightshade-vegetables-fruits.html

Nightshades include fruits and vegetables

that contain alkaloids. Individuals, who suffer
from gastroesophageal reflux disease,
arthritis, or acne can possibly see
improvements in their condition if they
eliminate these foods from their diet. Some
members of the nightshade family are
culinary vegetables, culinary fruit, spices and
sauces.
A group of tomatillos that contain nightshade.

Culinary Vegetables

A basket of chile peppers. The bell pepper, Italian pepper, chile

pepper, eggplant, potato, tomato
and tomatillo are culinary vegetables
that fall in the nightshade family. Although,
this list appears straightforward and easy
to avoid, individuals on a nightshade-free
diet, also need to avoid these foods in
modified forms. For example, potatoes are
present in potato starch, otherwise known
as modified food starch, a common
ingredient in many processed foods and a
common filler in medications and vitamin
supplements.
Culinary Fruits

Some culinary fruits that are considered

nightshades include the gooseberry, the
goji berry, the pepino and the
tamarillo. The gooseberry is a fruit that
can be used for culinary purposes, such
as desserts. But, it also has medicinal
purposes and features prominently in
homeopathic remedies. Goji berries are
antioxidant berries that have more recently
become used in goji berry juice, a popular
health drink. The pepino is an exotic fruit, often used as a dessert and the
tamarillo is a relative of the tomato, usually eaten as fruit.

Spices and Sauces

A plate of french fries somthered in ketchup.
Cayenne, chili powder, curry and paprika are
spices that are considered to be a part of the
nightshade family. Ketchup and hot sauces
should be avoided by individuals on a
nightshade free diet. These spices and
sauces are commonly found in Mexican
cuisine, and are present in many popular soft
drinks and snack foods. These spices and
sauces can also be found hiding out in
breading and seasoning for meat.

Miscellaneous Places to Find Nightshades

A woman smokes a cigarette.

Nightshades are also found in other various

places. Tobacco is a nightshade. Therefore,
cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco could
be harmful to individuals on a nightshade-free
diet. Several drugs and pesticides also contain
nightshades. Some of these are belladonna,
atropine, and scopolamine. People who are
attempting to avoid the consumption of
nightshades, should tell their pharmacist of their nightshade sensitivity prior to
taking prescription medication, over-the- counter drugs, vitamin supplements or
mineral supplements.

DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

Selection of Cayces Quotes on the Nightshade Family of Vegetables

4281-3, F 5, 9/27/24 potatoes, pepper (Cayenne)

Baked apples, none raw. Potatoes, Irish potatoes, prepared with the
jackets on.
Best that these be boiled and then prepared with as much of the Cayenne
pepper (no black pepper) as the body can take, with butter and Cayenne and
eaten in that manner.

4536-1, M adult, 6/14/23 peppers (Cayenne, red)

Let the diet be rather of the green vegetable variety than meats; fruits,
only those not too acid; stimulation, only those found in the food values and that
of very strong pepper, see, not black peppers nor of highly seasoned with salt,
see - leave out those properties, only that of Cayenne or red peppers; use very
little salt in foods. Do that.

404-6, F 46, 1/15/36 peppers

(Q) What is the food value of raw green peppers?
(A) They are better in combinations than by themselves. Their tendency is
for an activity to the pylorus; not the activity in the pylorus itself, but more in the
activity from the flow of the pylorus to the churning effect upon the duodenum in
its digestion. Hence it is an activity for DIGESTIVE forces.
Peppers, then, taken with green cabbage, lettuce, are very good for this
body; taken in moderation.

263-2, F 23, 6/4/34 tomatoes, peppers

We would be mindful of the diet. Not too much starches nor sweets, but
rather a balanced diet consisting of those things that are nerve and blood
building in the system. At least one meal each day should consist of fresh-green-
RAW vegetables; such as carrots, lettuce, celery, tomatoes, peppers, radishes,
spinach, mustard, onions, and the like. With such a salad there may be used
mayonnaise or oil dressings.

1788-7, M 1, 12/20/39 juices, tomatoes

As we find, the body here is developing near normally. There needs be
only those precautions which have been indicated, and the keeping of a well-
balanced diet.
We find that, now, the orange juice and grapefruit juice would be more
preferable than too much of tomato juice. Or, if it is desired to use tomato juice, it
will be found that the juice obtained from regular canned tomatoes is preferable
to most of that prepared only as juices, see?

10
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

2225-1, F adult, 2/4/31 tomatoes, eggplant

Evenings - not too much, but broths that carry barley, whole wheat, or
those that are nearer akin to nature. A little fish, but not the shell fish, may be
taken.
Vegetables would include lentils, beans, spinach (small quantity, not too
much), tomatoes, tomato juices, carrots, radishes, and such. These do not
always agree with the body, but they may be taken from time to time and TRIED
OUT as it were. Especially those that make for ELIMINATIONS in the system
are well, as the oyster plant or eggplant, or those natures that carry the activities
for the assimilating system.

257-228, M 47, 1/27/41 potatoes, baldness

(Q) What will water from potato peels do for body? How often should it be
taken? [For baldness.]
(A) This carries a combination. It depends, of course upon where the
potatoes are grown, how the peelings are prepared and how much is used, and
how low they are boiled, how much, etc. But the tendency is to add the elements
that produce the right stimulation for the growth of hair. Thus the activity is to the
glandular system - a part of the thyroid activity, you see. Now these are
tendencies. The peelings of potatoes don't of themselves make hair grow if
everything else is done to prevent it! But it tends to stimulate, to keep the
activities in such a manner as to be beneficial. For this body, or any other body -
if it desires to use it - though it's rather late for this body to undertake to grow
back hair, when it might have followed this procedure some twenty years ago
and prevented the loss of the hair; but for most bodies, about an ounce of the
potato peeling juice taken every few days is beneficial.
It also carries the salts that are helpful in stimulating an activity for better
assimilating forces in the body. For it tends to keep a balance.
But remember, much depends upon the manner in which such potatoes
are used - where and how they are grown, and how prepared. But in general,
these are beneficial in the manner indicated.
Of course, there might be a great or full discussion given on this, as to
where it is best that the potatoes be grown for this body or that body or the other
body. But these are general, see?

5520-1, M 5 months, 7/30/27 tomatoes, juices

(Q) Would orange juice, prune juice, or carrot juice, be beneficial for him at
present? If not, how long before it can be given?
(A) Carrot juice and prune juice, or TOMATO juice - tomato juice would be
better than either at present, were this given in small quantities. Carrot juice may
be given in two to three weeks. The tomato juice may be given at present -
PREFERABLY that which has been canned WITHOUT Benzoate of Soda.

11
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

584-5, M 57, 10/4/35 tomatoes

(Q) What has been the effect on my system of eating so many tomatoes?
(A) Quite a dissertation might be given as to the effect of tomatoes upon
the human system. Of all the vegetables, tomatoes carry most of the vitamins in
a well-balanced assimilative manner for the activities in the system. Yet if these
are not cared for properly, they may become very destructive to a physical
organism; that is, if they ripen after being pulled, or if there is the contamination
with other influences.
In THIS particular body, as we find, the reactions from these have been
not ALWAYS the BEST. Neither has there been the normal reaction from the
eating of same. For it tends to make for an irritation or humor. Nominally,
though, these should form at least a portion of a meal three or four days out of
every week; and they will be found to be MOST helpful.
The tomato is one vegetable that in most instances (because of the
greater uniform activity) is preferable to be eaten after being canned, for it is then
much more uniform.
The reaction in this body, then, has been to form an acid of its own;
though the tomato is among those foods that may be taken as the NON-acid
forming. But these should be of the best in EVERY instance where they are
used.
(Q) What brand of canned tomatoes is best?
(A) Libby's are more UNIFORM than most.

275-31, F 20, 4/12/33 tomatoes, vegetables

(Q) Would it be just as beneficial to me to substitute Del Monte's tomato
juice in place of my daily spinach juice?
(A) It might be well for an alternation of same. But the elements that are in
spinach juice and tomato juice are not of the same basic composition, when it is
relating to those specific forces in the form of the active principles for the system.
But the numbers of the active forces of the influences in each of the properties
might be well to be altered; for these are necessary forces in the system - those
as A, B, C, D, of those principles or basic influences in varied foods. And their
value is as to the number of units of each in the vitamins as produced.

(Q) Is there some other juice, other than tomato, I can alter with the
spinach juice that would be beneficial?
(A) As given, tomato juice (especially that preserved without a
preservative, for it is made from the ripe tomatoes) is better balanced in the
necessary vitamin force than most other elements of this character. So, as we
find, this would be the better to alter with same - see?

12
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

1990-2, M 2, 10/26/39 tomatoes (raw vs. cooked)

(Q) Are the following good in the diet: Tomatoes, raw or cooked?
(A) If canned tomatoes are used, they are not bad; though raw tomatoes
are severe.

3607-2, F 63, 6/16/44 tomatoes (raw vs. cooked)

(Q) Are fresh or canned tomatoes harmful for me?
(A) Canned tomatoes are better for the body than fresh tomatoes. For too
oft these are not gathered fresh.

1097-7, M 54, 9/25/37 tomatoes, potatoes

In the matter of the diet: Of these things beware: No fried foods of any
kind. No hog meat at any time, save a little crisp breakfast bacon - very crisp -
may be a part of the diet. Beware of white bread, white potatoes or the like. Do
not combine spaghetti, tomatoes or the white breads EVER at any time.
Tomatoes raw or canned are well as part of the diet. Potatoes if taken at all
should be those that are roasted. Meats - but not these in great quantities -
should consist of fish, fowl or lamb. Keep the diet consistently.

1315-6, F 44, 1/7/37 tomatoes, potatoes, combinations

(Q) What is the best diet for me?
(A) An eighty percent alkalin to twenty percent acid reacting diet. The
combinations are those things that make for too great a disturbance. Then, leave
out these from the diet as combinations.
Do not take tomatoes either cooked or raw WITH other green cooked or
raw vegetables; though tomatoes by themselves (preferably the canned) are very
good as a portion of the noon meal, or an evening meal.
Leave off potatoes of any kind at ANY time, and especially no fried
potatoes ever! Do not combine white bread especially at any time when wines or
strong drinks are taken.
Do not use too much of or too great quantity of alcoholic drinks, though
Red Wine is very good for the body, or light wines - NOT in excess.
Spaghetti or macaroni or great quantities of cheese, do not combine these
too much with breads or sweets; but rather as indicated keep the twenty percent
acid to eighty percent alkalin reactions.

767-1, M adult, 12/19/34 potatoes, vegetables

Evenings - preferably all the vegetables, or most of the vegetables should
be of the leafy nature; one of the bulbous nature (as peas and beans) to two of
the leafy vegetables; such as spinach, mustard, cabbage or collards or such
natures. Leave out potatoes; though if Irish potatoes are baked - occasionally
the jacket or that very close to it may be taken, but not the pulp. Fish may be
taken at times.

Potato Poultices
4932-1, M 65 (cataracts), 10/11/23
In the evenings when retiring for the night, that of the shade variety or
vituperous nature, Irish potato, as commonly known, old, not new, scraped well
and applied to the eye. Secretions bathed off the next morning with an alkaline
antiseptic, not acid, and this applied again the next evening in the same manner,
until this is loosened and is thrown off in extra secretions.

1866-8, F 38, 11/17/30

Well for there to be used, at least twice each week, the scraped Irish
potato, in the evenings, over the eyes with the eyes, certainly, closed. A small
amount of the scraped potato, and be sure these potatoes are at least of a year's
growth - not NEW potatoes, for these would be harmful. Put this on in the
evening. A cloth may be put over same, to be sure - with the potato scraped fine.
Take this off in an hour or two hours and then the eyes - and the secretions as
are thrown from same by the application - be bathed off with a weakened solution
of an antiseptic that will cleanse same, see?

360-4, F adult, 11/26/33

(Q) Should the body keep on with the potato poultice?
(A) These applications may be made occasionally, but where they
produce irritation - do not.
(Q) How often should the poultice be used?
(A) When the eyes feel heavy, and it's necessary that some of the
secretions be thrown off and not be counter-balanced in the coordinating of
eliminating forces of the system, very well to use. May be once a week, may be
once a month.
Let the intuitive forces within self predominate.
(Q) How long should the poultice be kept on at each time?
(A) Until the solution or body of the potato itself has blackened well, or
drawn sufficient for blackening it well. May be sometimes three to five minutes,
may be sometimes an hour to two hours.

1005-1, M 15, 8/8/24

For local condition, inflammation, in eyes, use scraped (old) irish potato in
evenings, that the inflammation may be drawn from the eye, cleansing with a
mild antiseptic of mornings, using the spray occasionally in the throat of Glyco-
Thymoline to cleanse the tonsil and the upper portion of the throat, cleansing the
epiglottis and the cavity to the nasal passages. This also may be used for the
nasal condition, though not needed at present. Only when inflammation; equal
parts of salt, soda and cream of tartar in solution. This we find will keep the
cleansed portions, and the body will develop normal.
(Q) How long of evenings should the irish potato be kept on the eyes?
(A) While it sleeps, while resting. Cleanse in morning.

B1. 5/3/25 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...I am in this letter asking you if anything can be done
for a man who will drink in spite of medicine, pleadings and prayers? He says it rests
him, forgetting that it only dulls and ruins him. He is 56 years old, quit it once for 4 or 5,
years, and I have heard that it is almost impossible for one to quit the 2nd time. It seems
some prayers are not to be answered. Can you suggest a saving process?..."

B2. 5/20/25 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...Please give my husband a reading for drinking.
He is at home mornings until 7 and afternoons usually after 6, on Sundays nearly all day,
if you can treat him that day. I am sending $2.00 but if he is cured I will then have the
money that the bootleggers get and will send you... I have almost given up believing in
prayer..."

7/26/25 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...I sent the 2nd prescription for my husband to
Montgomery, Jacksonville and then to Dr. Robinson (Christian Endeavor advising
Physician, Mass) and none of them had ever heard of Peptotol, the carrier for
prescription. I had No. 1 filled and gave to him, he still drinks. Do you think there's any
hope for a man who will not listen to loved ones when he persists in the drink habit and
knows it's ruining him body and soul? Are there not some prayers that go unanswered
and God's patience is exhausted? What shall I now do?..."

8/4/25 EC's letter EC to [28]'s wife: "...I'm at a loss to understand why they could not fill
your prescription with the Peptotol. However, if you will substitute the word Simple
Syrup for this, it will be all the same... I am sure that it requires some effort on the part
of Mr. [28], and I'm just as sure that God's patience does not become exhausted, and
though someone may not heed - it is the exception that often proves the rule and God's
promises are true..."

10/8/25 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...I have given nearly all the tonic and my husband still
drinks. Will you pray for him... I have prayed and agonized for years that he would quit.
His father drank and if heredity has anything to do with him he may have a graver battle
to fight than we know. He quit once for 5 years. Mr. T. J. Shelton of Denver - healer -
perhaps you know him - treated and still he drinks. Mr. Shelton said he resisted this
treatment. But I still feel that God will save - anyway if you can, I'm sure you will help
him, for I feel you are nearer God than anyone I know..."

1/17/25 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...I have complied as fully as possible in regard to your
advice. He still drinks ... We have a son in State University who can't get full work there
to pay all bills, so we must see him through. Two more - a boy and girl to finish High
School... can you see how I am nonplussed?... He is a member of the Church and I am
sick to think of what it means to others. I have asked for prayers and healing of the
Church Invisible, Boston, am told to think of him as God's perfect child and not to think of
him going to ruin, their letters are beautiful and wonderful. Shall I give him medicine or
leave him in God's hands? He says I nag him, because I plead so often but I am so
hurt... Will be glad to hear what you have to say about these two [Son [25] and Husband
[28]]..."

/23/26 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...My husband is better from the trouble - but has been
sick. I know some prayers are answered..."

4/l2/26 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...My husband quit for 2 weeks and took it up. There is
something strange about my prayers not being heard, in regard to him. He seems bent
on destruction. Just think he is a deacon in his church...he has a fine mind, energy; can
build houses or make things grow; had 7 years of drug training... I will appreciate any
word of advice..."

4/15/26 Letter from EC to [28]'s wife: "...Sorry indeed to know that things are not so well
with your husband... You may rest assured that I will not forget to remember you and
yours in my prayers..."

5/5/26 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...My husband quit for a couple of weeks but couldn't stay

6/6/31 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...Does the loss of a human soul mean anything to you?
If so please help my husband, as he is drinking heavy again, after a few months of
soberness. Is there anything on earth that will make him sick of it? Have prayed so
much..."

6/11/31 Letter from EC to [28]'s wife: "...We had a prescription [4386-1] given some time

12/29/32 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...[28] still drinks in spite of all you proposed... Shall I
give up the thought of his ever quitting drink? I have prayed many years..."

11/23/34 Letter from [28]'s wife: "...My husband died in February, 1934..."

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, located at the home (not at this present
time).

DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

3. Now we find there are some abnormal conditions that are forming and that are
produced in the body. These, we find, have to do with the digestive system and
the eliminations in the body.
4. Now, these are conditions as we find them in the body. First:
5. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find below quantity in the pressure;
however, above normal. In the distribution in the system, this very poor. Hence
the conditions as we find throughout where the body fails to assimilate or to
separate within the functioning organism those properties necessary for normal
sustenance and rebuilding in the system. Hence the conditions as are produced
in liver, in kidneys and in the alimentary canal proper. This from over stimulation
and poor assimilation and eliminations.
6. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this we find so subjugated that we find only certain
portions functioning near normal. These in the extremities of the body, and the
system keeps so keyed or taxed by the lack of assimilation as to prevent the
coordinating in nerve system proper (cerebrospinal). In sympathetic and in
mental, both overtaxed by these portions of system attempting to create physical
equilibrium. Hence the extremes to which the mental functioning goes, more in
mental than spiritual, you see.
7. In the organic organs and organic functioning, we find the heart, liver, spleen,
kidneys involved. Rest of the system very good.
8. Digestion impaired, on account of condition created in spleen, pancreas and
liver. Hence the deterioration, as it were, of the whole system and the lack of
assimilations and of the digestive system functioning normal.
9. Then, in the physical, to bring normal conditions for the body would be to first
leave off those stimulants in such quantities as cause this over-taxation in blood
supply, in the digestive system and to supply that necessary for the system to
function near normal.
Given these stimulants, we will find, while it will produce nausea if stimulants
or intoxicants are taken, it will prevent same from being taken and there will be
taken away much of the desire for same, though much of this depends upon the
mental portion of the body, as we shall see. Use then this:
Podophyllin............1 grain,
Cascara Sagrada........1 grain,
Leptandrin.............1 grain,
Licorice Compound....1/2 grain.
10. Make these in this quantity in each capsule, making five (5) capsules. One
shall be taken every other day.
11. Give this as the stimulant and preventative from using over-stimulants:
Tincture Valerian......2 ounces,
Bromide of Potash......2 drams,
Iodide of Potash......10 grains,
with Elixir Calisaya........4 ounces,
and Elixir Celerina........1 ounce,
and with Extract of Verbena....15 minims.

18
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

12. The carrier for this should be sufficient Peptotol to make sixteen (16) ounces.
The dose would be teaspoonful twice each day, morning and evening. By the
time the whole quantity is taken, we will find the body will be rid of much of the
desire for those properties that over-balance the system.
13. Should the body take the over-stimulus while using this and become sick and
nauseated, use the enema, also the stomach pump or wash to cleanse the
stomach of same, though this would not be a poison in itself, unless there was
certain combinations of properties taken in diet. Hence, while these are being
taken, the diet should consist chiefly of meats or game, or the juices of same,
with only vegetables that grow above the ground, and no form or combination of
any nightshade variety of vegetable.
14. Then for the mental, we find the body very capable, would it only guide itself
in the manner in which it understands the knowledge of self. Spiritual
understanding only comes from the understanding of the divine within self, and
the attempt to correlate same will always bring the development of self mentally
and spiritually. For those who call upon God will not find Him afar off but ever
present and ready to answer the self as is found in the inner man.
15. We are through for the present.

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home in Selma, Ala., this 5th
day of February, 1923.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. We have had this before, you see. Now, as
for the physical conditions in this body they are a great deal better in many
different respects from those we had here before. There are some conditions
that should be looked after regarding conditions through the lower portion of the
intestinal tract. This we find makes some reflex conditions through the pyloric
end of the stomach, causing, at times, halitosis, for this body, which makes
unpleasant conditions for the individual.

DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

2. The conditions that existed through other portions of the body, especially
through the pelvic organs, are better. We find, by correct actions of the body,
would remain eliminated from the system provided blood supply and activity
through the digestive organs are kept producing perfect elimination, so that each
cycle of functioning organs will replace or overcome conditions.
3. We would keep at all times sufficient quantities of a vegetable nature carrying
a great amount of the dissolving fluids in the system, such as we find in those of
the citrus fruits, berries and some of the vegetables that grow above the ground.
Those of celery, English peas, butter beans - vegetables of this character rather
than nightshade. Tomatoes good, but not in excess, for they would rather
influence the juices of the pancreas - some portions, especially along the
prostate and other glands of this nature.
4. As for the body's better welfare through the social, spiritual and mental, it
would only be well for the body to keep well in mind that it must study to show
itself approved unto its Maker, and not be ashamed of those ideals that give to
the development of others, while that of self must be approved of its Maker.
Those of others must be consideration as to whether approved to Him or not, and
that HIS spirit beareth witness with thy spirit whether thou art chosen of Him to
carry unto others those unsearchable riches of His nature and being.
5. As to the connections that are, or might be, with Edgar Cayce, we do not find
that there will be further than those of the distant, except from time to time as the
development of each individual's personality is given to those to whom the Maker
has endowed those spaces of time to come in touch with. [Work: EC]
6. As to the connections with someone in Birmingham - public accountants; it
would not be well, or satisfying, as we find here. It may be made; might be for
the time being of a satisfactory nature - it will not be of a lasting character. There
are other connections here that would be of a nature that would be well-pleasing
to this body and others concerned. This is as we find. Do this. We are through.

(Body and enquiring mind, and information given through these sources
regarding his life work. Ques.)

22
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, the abilities and the
information that has been given this entity or this body regarding his life's work.
2. In giving in the present that which may be helpful to the entity, in reaching, in
applying those suggestions that have been made, and in the body determining in
what manner these may be applied - also wherein thus far the body HAS failed in
making practical application; first, know this:
3. That which is impractical and ONLY theory, or only idealistic, is of little material
or concrete value; but that which is of the spiritual import must be applied in the
spiritual life; that which is mental must be applied in the mental life. And these
combined BUILD or make for that which is practical in the physical or material life.
4. In the application of that given, the entity has the more oft attempted to reach
or attain effects or results WITHOUT making personal application of the spiritual
and mental truths. And these become then as extravagances or as
stumblingblocks in the experience. Also, as indicated, in the material or physical
life there have been some indiscretions; these arising from - well - that attitude of
"Well, what will happen anyway will happen!"
5. While there may be derived a great incentive from such information as given
through these sources, and from many phases of man's experience - whether
astrological, psychological, numerological or what not, as we have given, these
are RATHER as signs, as indications, as those things that may be used to
determine within the mental-mind as to just what status HAS been attained in the
application of the knowledge; or with what wisdom, with what standards, with
what measures thou hast measured thy attainments.
6. For effects, results, are not so much in self (which is too often the judgement
of man) but in what thou hast done with that attained toward applying thyself IN
relationships to thy fellow man - or in what has been his (thy fellowman's)
reaction.
7. Oft thou hast heard, "Let not thy good be evilspoken of." How, why, may such
occur?
8. Thou speakest (under such environs) one manner and livest another life.
Thou proclaimest in thy experience that thou believest this or that, and then thou
dost proceed to act as if it didn't exist!
9. THESE be thy stumblingblocks, my son.
10. Ready for questions.
11. (Q) Why have all my efforts to make some archeological connections failed?
(A) Let the PREPARATION of thyself, physically, mentally, be made first.
And then there may be made such connections. For what be the laws? Like
attracts like! Hast thou not read that he who buildeth the best mouse trap,
though he live in the midst of a forest, will have a beaten path to his door? Hast
thou not read again, "Consecrate yourselves THIS DAY; wash thy garments and
thy body and be CLEAN; for on the morrow thy God would speak with thee?"
What be the interpretations thereof?
Make, as indicated, the mental and spiritual application respecting such
things; knowing that it is not that thou hast declared thou art the best to be
obtained but that thou hast PROVEN it in thy service to thy fellow man! And he
that keepeth these shall be CALLED!

DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

12. (Q) Why have I been unable to find the fragrant ivy, the odor of which should
be studied by me? [As in 274-7, Par. 1.]
(A) Seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto thee. Study
ALL of those of the ivy family including what has been called the geranium. For
this is of THAT family, or the stock from which MAN hath brought the varied
forms or representations of that plant.
Another:
In much of thy seeking (as thy advanced thought is so determined, or
accepted by many), the synthetic odors, synthetic reactions from varied forms of
vegetation or grasses have been accepted; yet these are much like accepting
shadows - for the REAL thing!
13. (Q) Regarding the fragrant ivy, could you give more precisions?
(A) As just indicated. Follow the stock from which there has been the
propagation of those various plants, with all their VARIED odors.
From what did the plant OBTAIN its ability to produce in the one that of lemon, in
another orange, in another lavender, in another violet?
ITS parent stock was given, not by man but by the very Creative Forces, the
ABILITY to take and make that which becomes as an essence that RESPONDS
to or sets in vibration the olfactory influences in the mucous membranes of the
body of man; determining it to be SETTING in motion that which has such an
influence!
For as has been indicated, and as may be or should be worked upon or
classified by man, there is the ability to make odors that will respond, and do
respond, to certain individuals or groups; and many hundreds ARE responding to
odors that PRODUCE the EFFECT within their systems for activities that the
psychoanalyst and the psychologist have long since discarded - much as they
have the manner in which the Creative Forces or God MAY manifest in an
individual!
What meaneth they of old when saying, "This hath ascended to the throne of
grace as a sweet saviour, a sweet incense before the Maker, the Creator," but
that that within the the individual is made aware of that estate which he had
before he entered into flesh and became contaminated by the forms of matter in
such a manner?
For odor is gas, and not of the denser matter that makes for such activity in
individuals' lives as to make for the degrading things.
Again, what meaneth He when He gave, "I am loath to thy sacrifices and to
thy incense, for thou hast contaminated same with the blood of thy sons and
daughters in the manner in which thou has led them astray."
The mixing of those things, then, became as stumblingblocks. What did
Jeroboam, that he made the children of Israel to sin, but to offer rather the
sandalwoods of the nations or the Egyptians that made for the arousing of the
passions in man for the gratifications of the seeking for the activities that would
satisfy his own indulgence, rather than the offering of those things that would
make for the GLORY of the Lord's entrance into the activities of the individual?

Edgar Cayce Readings copyright 1971, 1993-2014 by the Edgar Cayce Foundation

24
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

What bringeth the varied odors into the experience of man? Did lavender
ever make for bodily associations? Rather has it ever been that upon which the
angels of light and mercy would bear the souls of men to a place of mercy and
peace, in which there might be experienced more the glory of the Father.
Yet what bringeth mace and allspice and the various peppers but that which
would arouse within man that of vengeance? Why?
These are of those influences that build such IN the experience.
Then INDEED through the study of those things that have been indicated for
this body, this soul now known as or called [274], there may come that which
may be builded even as the music of the spheres, so that it may act upon the
body in the varied forms of its development and experience.
Hast thou ever known the odor from a flesh body of a babe to be the same as
the odor from a body that has been steeped in the sins of the world, and has
become as dross that is fit only to be cast upon the dunghill to become again that
through which there may be gained those activities in a sphere of opportunity for
a soul expression?
Then, just as these may answer for the varied stages of an individual
development, there should be those things that make for such an activity.
Look about thee; and thou may understand how that one of the canine or cat
family may - through the very spoor of its master or one of its kind - determine
not only the days of its passage but as to the state of its being, interpreted as to
its ability for procreation within its own self. This ye see and have taken little
thought of.
How much more, then, may there be brought into the experiences of
individuals that which may answer in their preparations (body and mind), through
the varied effects that may be obtained in the entity or individual entering into an
activity that becometh it as a son of a living God?
Dost thou put upon the body of the harlot the same that thou findest upon the
altar of thy Lord? Dost thou find upon those entering at birth the same as upon
those passing at death? Far apart be these, yet it is as in every law - JUST the
reverse side of the same thing!
14. (Q) Could you give some information on the relation of the sense of smell to
the other senses?
(A) These apply as has been indicated in that just given. Study these, not
only from the manner in which they affect the body in the various stages of its
development but from that they have reflected and do reflect in the activity of that
kingdom just below thee - yet so often with the appearance of being far above
many of those that have made themselves beneath the animal kingdom!
15. We are through for the present.

TEXT OF READING 2888-1 M 24

This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue,
Dayton, Ohio, this 11th day of February, 1925.

2. EC: Now, we find the body in the physical forces very good in many respects,
yet there are some abnormal conditions that cause distress in the system.
These, as we find at the present time are specific conditions and affect the
system in sometimes specific manners and ways. At others rather a reflex
condition. Hence the cause and effect are viewed often in different way from the
manner as the effect is shown in the system.

26
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

3. Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body, [2888] we are
speaking of, present in this room. First:
4. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find very good at the present time. There
are times, as we see, from the indications as are left in the various functioning
organs, when the blood carries elements that are not eliminated through their
proper channels. Hence the system, especially in the emunctories, becomes
over-charged. At such times we have trouble with liver, and reflexes to the
kidneys, tendency of constipation and the arising of toxins in system. At such
times we find distress from the mesenteric system, and pains through the right
and lower side. Again we find these reflexes cause distress through the same
blood supply, leaving toxins in system, distresses in the lower end of stomach,
burning sensation, tendency when foods are taken to belch a great deal, or to
produce, as it were, lumps rising in throat, pain in pit of stomach and toward the
right upper portion of body.
5. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, in this we find the seat of the troubles, especially in
the cerebro-spinal nerve system. In the ganglion about the last dorsal and the
2nd and 3rd lumbars, we find lesions that produce the greater portion of the
trouble in body, or the seat of the trouble in body, and other conditions are
reflexes, or reaction from the trouble produced there.
6. We find in times back there was a strain through lifting and wrenching of body,
when there was trouble caused there. This the system went about to heal in
normal manner, yet with this drawing about the strained portions produced a form
of lesion, that with retraction at times brings these conditions. In this we find it
brings the disturbance to the stomach, the kidneys, the liver, the spleen, the
functioning of digestive system; not always, yet these come spasmodically,
suffering more when we have reaction from either physical or mental strain to the
body. In the sympathetics this has gone about to produce specific conditions in
the functioning organs. This we see also reflexly through sympathetic and
through sensory system creates reflexes in other portions of the sensory system.
7. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS, brain forces very good.
8. Sensory organism, reflex strain on cerebro-spinal nerve plexus, and that of the
drosses in system, bring again a form of lesion in the 2nd dorsal and 3rd and 4th
cervical. This brings strain to sensory system. Has brought in times back more
to eyes and to the throat than as at the present time, for we then had some
distresses and troubles. The tendency was at that time to clear throat,
something seemed to rise and had to be swallowed. We find that we brought
burning sensations to the eyes, inflammation to the back portion of the eye ball
proper. This has been relieved by the lesion as has formed, which prevents this
retraction; yet must be relieved to bring the body to a normal coordination
through nerve system and functioning organs.
9. Lungs, bronchials, very good.
10. Heart's action, no organic conditions, yet we have found a subnormal
pressure at some times. Again an abnormal pulsation, produced by toxins
carried in system when congestion showed in body.

Edgar Cayce Readings copyright 1971, 1993-2014 by the Edgar Cayce Foundation

27
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

11. In digestive organs, in stomach proper, these reflexes, and from these
conditions, an acidity had formed in lower portion of the stomach and in the
duodenum, and in the lower end of the stomach; there has been times when
there were lacerations rather than ulcerations, for the soreness produced there
was from an acidity or too much hydrochloric for this lactic or lacteal forces in the
system. This taxed, as we see, the liver. Hence we have a dormant condition,
yet an engorged right lobe. The system attempting to again adjust itself.
12. In the lower portion of the intestinal digestion through sympathetic and
through the functioning of the hypogastric and pneumogastric plexus, under acid
strain, under toxin strain, has produced a condition in the head of ascending
colon, wherein congestion brings distresses to the body. This we find purely
reflex conditions as produced in system from this condition existing in lower
dorsal and in lumbar region. This we find also in the hepatics and in the kidneys,
a reflex condition of the system attempting to eliminate through their channels
drosses carried in system.
13. Then, to relieve these conditions, and to prevent the taxed system from
serrogating and causing functional conditions, that would necessitate the organic
disturbance, take in the system these properties:
14. Make a tea of Ambrosia Weed, or Ragweed. Six drams of the weed to
twelve ounces of distilled water. Reduce by simmering (not boiling) to six
ounces. Strain and add one ounce Cane Sugar. Two ounces pure grain alcohol,
with one dram Balsam of Tolu cut in it.
15. The dose would be teaspoonful twice each day, on arising and just before
retiring, and have the corrections made in the dorsal and lumbar region, through
deep manipulation (osteopathic) so that the assimilations in system and
eliminations in system may be corrected.
16. Do these, taking the treatments, osteopathically, at least twice each week,
until twenty-four treatments have been taken, and two quantities of medicinal
properties have been taken.
17. We will find the body will be brought to the normal conditions.
18. For the diet, while this is being taken, let the body only take meats of fish or
fowl, and not too large quantities. Plenty of rough material, as it would be; brans,
gruels and green vegetables of celery, lettuce, carrots, beets, such vegetables
good and better for the body. Not too much Irish potatoes or any night shade
variety. Beets, carrots, lettuce, celery, peas, beans, lentils. No Irish potatoes,
sweet potatoes, turnips or of that nature for the body.
19. We will find by the time these have been taken, the body will be to the normal
condition, [2888].

TEXT OF READING 3847-1 M ADULT

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the Tutwiler Hotel, Birmingham,
Alabama, this 17th day of December, 1922.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. Now, the abnormal condition as we find in
this body has to do with the imperfect elimination and the effect this has
produced on the ligaments and nerve tissue with the muscular forces over the
body, especially, to the extremities and the locomotory nerve centers, see.
2. Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body here, [3847], we are
speaking of, ..., Alabama: The blood supplying forces in the physical body have
been carried in the system, for times back, some of the bacilli that has impaired
the rebuilding centers or cells through some of the portions of the body and has
allowed these impurities in attempting to be eliminated through the capillary
circulation to become enmeshed in the emunctory and lymphatic centers in the
various portions of the body until the effect comes to the body in its action
through physical forces. The number of red blood cells are deficient, the number
in the white have become intermingled with much of the lymph cells and show in
the distribution through organs as well as through the tissue of the body. Now,
we see the body is not always as sick or in distress in the physical being as it is
at other times, you see. Through the nerve centers we find the body in the brain
action to be physically good. There has been impression to the brain centers
that has made the body to some individuals, rather estranged to them, you see.
These have more to do with the spiritual and soul elements than of the physical
or all of the branches of the nerve ends have become enmeshed with the
condition, so we find these are more governed by the contraction of the muscular
forces by the action of the lymphatic circulation, than by the nerve conditions
themselves, for the condition is produced by the contraction rather than from the
nerve condition. The nerve condition then becoming the effect rather than the
cause of the conditions. The sensory organism of the body, we find acts reflexly
to the conditions in the system.
3. The functioning of the organs as organs we find some are very good while
others show the effect, especially, in the emunctory forces in their organs of the
condition existing. Especially, do we see this through the digestive tract and
through the liver and hepatic circulation. The body has suffered, and does at
times yet suffer, from the condition as produced through the lower end of the
colon, see, so that inflammation is at times brought to the body, but the flow of
blood and the lack of elimination through this over-amount of circulation going
into these portions of the body and through which much of the poisons are
absorbed in the system. This we find through the perineurial plexus, hence the
effect that this produces to the bladder and the kidneys at times, an excess we
find in the specific gravity of the urine, also excess of some of the make-up of the
secretions as thrown off by these forming uric acid in the system.

DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

4. Now, to give the relief necessary to bring the body to its normal forces, we
would give that in the system that would first clarify the blood forces that, that
would give the correct incentives to the functioning of the eliminating organs and
then that to the body that would give the correct vibrations to the physical forces,
for we find each system in the system, that is, the spiritual and soul forces and
the physical force in all bodies produce an individual vibration, but they must co-
ordinate to keep balance in the physical force, see. Give this then in the system:
5. To one gallon of rain water, add:
Sarsaparilla Root....2 ounces,
Wild Cherry Bark.....2 ounces,
Mandrake Root.......15 grains,
Sassafras Root.......2 ounces,
Buchu Leaves........10 grains.
This would be simmered, not boiled, until reduced to one quart, strain, while
warm add two ounces of cane sugar dissolved first in warm water, four ounces
grain alcohol with three drams of Balsam of Tolu dissolved in it. The dose would
be teaspoonful four times each day, taken before meals and before retiring. Let
the diet be no meats, only cereals and fresh vegetable matter as much as
possible - none of the night shade variety of vegetable, however. After this is
taken into the system, that is, this whole quantity, then we would give Chloride of
Gold, fifteen grains dissolved in fifteen ounces of water, distilled water, and eight
grains of Bromide of Soda. The dose would be fifteen drops, in half glass of
water twice each day. This would be taken, preferably, at nine in the morning
and three in the evening [afternoon] and use the electric vibrations to the
extremities along the sciatic nerves, across the small of the back and across the
shoulders, the brachial plexus and the sacral plexus for five minutes each day.
This would be used with the ultra violet ray, see. This should be given preferably
about thirty minutes after the gold is taken in the system. Do that, [3847], ...,
Alabama.
6. (Q) Mr. Cayce, these treatments you have recommended for this body, how
much time will be required to have the body in a normal condition?
(A) Depending on the persistency which they are carried out with the action of
the other forces.
7. (Q) Does the sciatic condition of this body affect both of the lower extremities?
(A) ... [It does?] in the ... where it affects across the sacral plexus. The effect
is from both of these, but one, more than the other. Do as we have given if we
would relieve this body. We are through.

TEXT OF READING 5521-1 M ADULT

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, this 4th day of August,
1924, in accordance with request made by his brother - [4283].
1. EC: Now, as to the conditions we find in this body, we find that the condition as
is shown is the lower extremities that of an aggravated and of the condition that is
so set in system that the condition itself reproduces itself in the form of bacilli as is
shown in the system. Not that of the particular condition as would be termed
cancerous condition, yet in this malignant form and way we find this shows
something of that nature, without the wasting condition as is usually produced in
this form of condition. This is not the sarcoma germ. Rather that which would be
produced from a dew poison, or Night Shade poison, or from as we find that which
produced this in the system is from taking Mercury and Night Shade in the system
at the same time, and it produces a poison in the extremities and turned aside, as
it were, the elimination in the capillary circulation, and the lymphatic glands
becoming involved and poisoned. All this combined produces this condition. This
in the malignant state is the accentuated, aggravated, condition in both the blood
supply, in the capillaries of the extremities and in the lymphatic circulation. Hence
the pus and the inflammation.
2. Now, we find this condition may be assisted, and if properly handled and taken
may be eliminated entirely in and from the system. This will of necessity include
all form of perfect elimination being set in the system, especially that in the
emunctory circulation in liver and in kidneys, without producing in the organs
themselves the incentive to accentuate the condition in the functioning organs.
3. We would first make this lotion and apply directly to the outer edges, first of the
abrasions.
4. To two ounces of butterfat add the same quantity of Plantain, with the leaves,
the root and the stem or blossom, reduced until nearly jellied; take six to eight
ounces and reduce until almost jelled. This with the oil of butterfat and apply
directly to these abrasions, changing this at times with the milk from milkweed, as
will be found about the farms of this district. This we find will heal these places,
these abrasions; that is, we will use the Plantain and butterfat three days, one
day use the milk from the milkweed; that is, the ground creeping weed, and the
vibration is opposite to that of the Night Shade.
5. Taking in the system properties as we will find in this:
To one gallon of rain water, add:
Sarsaparilla.................4 ounces,
Wild Cherry Bark.............2 ounces,
Calisaya Bark................2 ounces,
Buchu Leaves................20 grains,
Elder Flower.................2 ounces,
Poke-Root...................10 grains.
Reduce by simmering (not boiling) to one quart. Strain while warm and add
four ounces of grain alcohol, with two drams of Balsam of Tolu cut in it. Also,
after this has been used for some time (medicinal properties and the lotion), use
the radium applicator as we will find from the Radium Appliance Company of Los
Angeles.

DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

6. Do that. This will bring better conditions to the body. We will find that these
will heal and break again, yet we should keep them cleansed with an alkaline
antiseptic. Do not use acid antiseptic in cleansing the abrasions on the body.
This persistently, consistently, added to the system, and keeping the eliminations
with all of the vegetable matter as grows above the ground. None below. No
meats of any kind, save fish or fowl.
7. Do this. We will bring the body to the better condition and eventually eliminate
these poisons entirely from the system, [5521].

TEXT OF READING 5521-2 M ADULT

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce, this 14th day of August, 1924.

2. EC: Yes, we have this reading here. We have the conditions. The lotions to
be prepared are two, and should be prepared in this manner and form. First,
plantain, the green variety, or that just gathered; the root, the leaves, the flower
or seed of same. This should be bruised but not lose that portion that comes
from bruising. Bruised in the container in which this is to be rendered in. Six
ounces of the leaf, flower and root to-gether. To this add eight ounces of rain
water. Reduce by simmering or boiling, with cover on same, to two ounces.
Strain this through a very coarse cloth. Do not remove the particles of leaves or
blossoms that remain in the solution. To this solution then add four ounces of
fresh butter that has no salt, and which has been worked until the milk and water
is taken from same. Let this boil until the whole quantity is reduced to three
ounces. Then pour off and apply to the abrasions, with thin gauze placed over
same. Let this remain for some time.
3. The other lotion, and this will be applied to the edges only of the abrasions, the
milk from the common milkweed, the weed gathered fresh with the dew on same,
(This shaken of course) and the weed broken and the milk that comes from this
break shall be rubbed on the edges of the abrasions. Not over the whole
solution, or over the whole sores, but on the inflamed portions that are not
broken. Not on tissue that is broken but over the edges that are not broken.
4. The medicinal properties are to be taken two teaspoonsful before each meal
and before retiring. Four doses each day at that time. Do that. We will bring relief
for this body, [5521].

This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce, Dayton, Ohio, this 6th day of March,
1924.
1. EC: Now, we find this body very good throughout. Above the normal in many
ways, yet we find the abnormal also and the effect as is produced in the system
by this condition. This we find is of the structural condition, and produces a
specific effect in the body. The condition causing or producing this comes from
times back, even when the body was very small in stature.
2. Now, these are conditions as we find in this body.
3. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, we find this very good. Well balanced in its
elementary forces. Also in the division in the constituents necessary for
rebuilding in the system.
4. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, we find those centers that produce the condition in
circulation and in the effect as is brought to the pulmonaries and the inhalation
and exhalation in the body. This center then that has the condition or pressure is
that at the sixth and seventh dorsal, affecting the secondary cardiac plexus.
Hence, with this taxing the strain in system in breath or shortness of breath and
the pressure as is produced in lung and diaphragm proper, more of pressure felt
than of other action in the system. In the secondary cardiac plexus center the
perineurium itself shows the inflammation and a lesion of the floating type.
Hence we have this depression only spasmodically, and when the nervous
system becomes overtaxed, so the condition may arise from the excitement to
mental forces from cold or from overeating, or any that causes taxation to any
nerve centers, either of the hypogastric, pneumogastric, cerebrospinal or
sympathetic, will affect at times this center (not present you see at this time). In
the sympathetic system this gives reflections and brings the tired, depressed
feeling over the whole system.

35
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

5. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF ORGANS THEMSELVES, we find as this:

6. The brain forces very good.
7. Organs of sensory system function normally.
8. Throat, bronchials, thyroids, very good.
9. The lower portion of the lung shows how the nerve reaction through the aorta
artery, when the depression comes to the plexus in secondary region, heart
forces and lungs become affected, though not organic trouble, either in heart or
lung.
10. Digestion in the cardiac end of stomach, the esophagus end, shows how that
overeating, especially of sweets or sugars, affects the nerve system. Well to
keep away from too much of these (except honey in the honey comb).
11. In the organs of digestion very good. All function in normal condition save
when taxed through nerve condition.
12. In the organs of the trunk portion of body, and pelvis, very good.
13. Then, to relieve this condition in the dorsal would be to remove by deep
manipulation, osteopathically taken.
14. When the depression is to the lungs and nerves would be well for the
spasmodic conditions that arise to inhale through the mouth the fumes or the
smoke from Jimson-Weed leaves, dried. Mix with third quantity of the seed from
this pod of the Jimson. This will not be necessary to be taken often, provided
adjustments in dorsal regions are made. Do that.

Jimson Weed? No, Thanks
The Jimson weed is a black sheep of a large family of plants, the night-
shades, which counts such honorable members as the potato, the eggplant, the
tomato, the garden pepper, and the petunia.
Datura stramonium, or thornapple or jimson weed or Apple of Peru, is
poisonous from its root through its broad leaves to its trumpetlike flowers to the
tip of its six-foot stalk. Alkaloids derived from the plant - atropine, scopolamine -
can be medically useful in trained hands. The thorny, hard pods yield brown
seeds which may tempt the unwise.
The unwary who gulp the toxic seeds in hope of a hallucinating "high" court
certain sickness and possible death. The last previous outbreak of jimson weed
poisoning occurred four years ago when a dozen youths in Norfolk and Virginia
Beach were hospitalized. Investigators said drug pushers had been palming off
the seeds as peyote, a true - and illegal - hallucinogen. This week Virginia
Beach police reported 10 cases of jimson weed poisoning and Norfolk one.
History was repeating itself. Some of the first English settlers at Jamestown
(whence, by corruption, the present name) took an early bad trip on jimson weed.
Whether they did so for kicks or out of hunger is unclear, but they suffered for
their folly. The lesson is constant even after 3 centuries: Those who trip out
may trip up.

R2. 12/3/74 (Tuesday) Article: Ledgar-Star

Jimsonweed
To the Editor:
Recently, in the Ledgar-Star, I read that some children in the Virginia Beach
area had been made ill by the seeds of the Jimsonweed plant. Containing as it
does the very poisonous alkaloid atropine, they are lucky to be alive.
Jimsonweed (Datura stramonium) is one of more than 2,000 species in the
Solanaceae, the nightshade family. Many members of this family are poisonous,
a few being Jimsonweed, Belladonna and Solanum.
Oddly enough, some members of this family produce important foods, such
as red pepper, Irish potato, tomato and eggplant.
Atropine, the alkaloid present in Jimsonweed, is a white, crystalline powder.
It is very poisonous, but is very useful in the treatment of certain ailments when
prescribed by a physician.
A number of well-known, common plants are poisonous. The bark of the
Wisteria contains a poisonous substance called Wisteria. The leaves of the
mountain laurel (kalmia latifolia) are quite poisonous, particularly to live-stock. A
virulent poison is in the beautiful lily-of-the-valley, while the common buttercup
can cause abdominal cramps when ingested. The leaves of the lovely oleander
(nerium oleander) are very poisonous. The leaves and bark of the common wild-
cherry contain a glucocide, "amygdalin," which under certain conditions can
hydrolize into the deadly hydrocyanic acid.
The list is extensive. Who would think that the fragrant "sweet shrub"
(calycanthus sp.) is quite poisonous and that chewing the leaves of the common
yew tree can cause death?

4/24/93 Donna Marie Kenworthy's letter:

A.R.E., Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Dear A.R.E.,
Enclosed you will find a copy of a testimonial letter I sent to Pariser
Dermatology Specialists, after learning that they, in conjunction with Eastern
Virginia Medical School, were conducting a study on eczema. After reading my
letter, you will understand my pleasure in writing it in the first place, and in now
requesting that you forward it to Dr. John Pagano. I have been eczema free for
around a year now. I owe Dr. Pagano my deep gratitude.
Please feel free to make a copy of the letter for your own records. After
all, I was able to receive this information by attending a small conference that you
sponsored last year at the Cavalier. I extend my appreciation to you.
With love and light, [signed] Donna Marie Kenworthy

[Enclosed Letter]

To Whom It May Concern:
After seeing your advertisement for eczema sufferers, I phoned and spoke to
your receptionist, Sheryl. We agreed that since I cured my eczema I was not a
candidate for your study, but rather that I should inform you how I achieved my cure.
A year ago I was suffering from the worst case of eczema that I have had the
unhappiness to endure. In fact, for the past several years, I had only had occasional
and somewhat mild outbreaks. Cortisone creams and ointments were totally
ineffective. For the first time in my life, I developed a scaly rash at my elbows even,
which looked more like psoriasis than eczema. The situation was very depressing.
During the time that the situation was at its worst, I went to a lecture and slide
presentation given by Dr. John Pagano, who had written a book on healing psoriasis.
He passed out a recommended diet, which advised staying away from a group of
foods known as nightshades, such as: Tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, and all sorts of
peppers. Well, the one thing in my regimen which was different was that I had
developed the habit of eating large amounts of eggplant during the time of my
eczema outbreak.
After eliminating all nightshades from my diet, all signs of eczema
disappeared. I am also very careful about not consuming food that contributes to
acid stomach. I have noticed that whenever I have frequent heartburn, my hands feel
more sensitive, without actually breaking out in any kind of rash. Furthermore, since
I am bothered by acid indigestion, my doctor prescribed a drug called Pepcid, which
works beautifully. My stomach and my hands feel better than ever. I believe that
there is a connection between the assimilation of certain foods and eczema.
I appreciate your taking the time to peruse my letter. What's nice about this
remedy is there is no danger from harmful side-effects from steroids. Also, I would
like to mention that when I do take antacids, I only consume calcium based, not
aluminum based, forms of this medicine. I hope Sheryl's sister has good luck with
this regimen. Please thank Sheryl for listening to me so patiently. She has a very
pleasant manner.
Most cordially yours, [signed] Donna Marie Kenworthy

Fibromyalgia and Nightshade Foods

http://treating-fibromyalgia.com/fibromyalgia-and-nightshade-foods/
Most individuals have never heard the term
nightshades, much less make the connection to a food
group that ignites pain and inflammation.
Recent research has shown that between 70 and 90%
of people who ache and hurt regardless of their diagnostic
label have sensitivity to nightshades.
Before I share several healthy eating tips with you
let me delve into what exactly nightshades are.
And I dont mean the kind you cover your window with to take a nap in the afternoon.

Lets talk Nightshades

Nightshades are a diverse group of foods, herbs, shrubs, and trees that have
fascinated scientists, doctors and nutritionists for centuries.
In simple terms, nightshade plants release chemicals that protect the plant from
being eaten by insects.
Nightshade is actually the common name used to describe over 92 varieties and
2,800 species of plants, many with very different properties and constituents.
All of the plants, however, belong to a scientific order called Polemoniales, and to a
scientific family or botanical group called Solanaceae.
To give you an idea of the diversity associated with this group of plants, consider
the fact that tobacco, morning glory, potato, and tomato are all classified as nightshades.

Muscle Stiffness and Nightshades

An enzyme present in our bodies called Cholinesterase originates in the brain
where it is responsible for flexibility of muscle movement.
Solanine which is present in nightshades is a powerful inhibitor of
cholinesterase.
In other words, its presence can interfere with muscle function the cause of
stiffness experienced after consuming nightshade foods.
Nightshades also contain a substance called calcitrol, which is a type of vitamin D.
Calcitrol is also a powerful hormone that, if consumed in large quantities, may
cause calcium levels in your blood to rise.
The theory behind this effect is that calcium accumulates in the joints causing bone
tissue to grow and replace cartilage.

Fibro Flare Ups and Nightshades

Most plants in the nightshade family are considered
weeds, many of which have poisonous berries, but many
common fruits and vegetables are actually part of this family
as well.

The alkaloids in these common fruits and vegetables are harmless for the most part,
but they are sometimes referred to as being pro-inflammatory.
This refers to an eliciting of chronic, low levels of inflammation that may encourage an
emergence of symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory disease
processes such as fibromyalgia.
Health problems from nightshade foods may only occur in individuals who are
especially sensitive to these alkaloid substances.
Research has proven that when an inflammatory condition pre-exists, consuming
nightshades is like adding fuel to the fire.
That said there is no scientific evidence that for those not afflicted with inflammation
that nightshades will cause it.
The bottom line individuals who suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease,
inflammatory disease or even acne can possibly see improvements in their condition if
they reduce or eliminate these foods from their diet.
If you are sensitive to alkaloids it is helpful to familiarize yourself with the most
common fruits, vegetables and other products that belong to the nightshade family.
Heres a quick snapshot of some of the most common ones:
Tomatoes
The most common nightshade in the North and South American diets is tomatoes.
They are usually consumed raw, in juices, in a sauce over pasta, in lasagnas, pizzas
and chilis, or as a salsa to accompany a meal.
Potatoes
Another common nightshade on your plate is potatoes, whether it is boiled, baked or
mashed.
French fries and potato chips also constitute important sources of potatoes in the diet.
Fortunately, not all potatoes are created equal you can still enjoy Yams and Sweet
Potatoes.
Eggplants
Eggplants also belong to the nightshade plant family.
Eggplants are found in the dip baba ganoush, in ratatouille, eggplant parmesan or are
served as a vegetable, whether grilled or as a pizza topping.
Peppers
All varieties of peppers, including the bell pepper, Italian pepper and chili peppers
(with the exception of black pepper) are part of the nightshade family.
This also includes hot peppers, cayenne, paprika as well as Tabasco sauce. Many
spicy dishes contain some sort of pepper.
Berries
Goji berries are increasingly popular because of their high antioxidant content.
However, this fruit is part of the nightshade family of plants.
Other berries, such as ashwagandha, an herb used in Ayurvedic medicine, Cape
gooseberries, but not normal gooseberries, ground cherries and garden huckleberries,
but not blueberries, are also considered nightshades.

Although not directly in the nightshade family, some other foods to watch out for that
contain solanine are:
Blueberries
Okra
Artichokes

Substances to Avoid
If you believe that you have a sensitivity to the above chemicals found in certain
food products and drugs, then you may wish to limit or avoid some of the following:
Homeopathic remedies containing Belladonna (known as deadly nightshade).
Prescription and over-the-counter medications containing potato starch as a filler
(especially prevalent in sleeping and muscle relaxing medications).
Edible flowers: petunia, chalice vine, day jasmine, angel and devils trumpets.
Atropine and Scopolamine, used for motion sickness and in sleeping pills.
Topical medications for pain and inflammation containing capsicum (in cayenne
pepper).
Nicotine is one of the most famous of the one-ring type alkaloids and is found in the
highest concentrations in tobacco.
Even though this brief list appears to be straightforward and easy to follow,
individuals on a nightshade-free diet also need to avoid these foods in modified forms.
For example, potatoes are present in potato starch, otherwise known as modified
food starch, a common ingredient in many processed foods and a common filler in
medications and vitamin supplements.

Some Practical Tips

1. Joint or Nervous System Problems?
First, if you are an individual with existing joint problems caused by your
fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or gout, a temporary 2-3 week
elimination of nightshade foods from your meal plan may be a worthwhile step to
determine if these foods could be contributing to your joint and pain problems.
This same recommendation would apply to individuals with existing nervous
system problems, particularly nerve-muscle related problems.
2. Reduce Alkaloid Intake
Second, even if you are an individual with no existing health problems that are
potentially related to nightshade intake, you may want to take precautions to avoid
excessive intake of alkaloids from these foods.
Steaming, boiling and baking all help reduce the alkaloid content of nightshades.
However, alkaloids are only reduced by about 40-50% from cooking.
For non-sensitive individuals, the cooking of nightshade foods will often be
sufficient to make the alkaloid risk from nightshade intake insignificant.
On the other hand for sensitive individuals the remaining alkaloid concentration
may be enough to cause problems.
Handling of potatoes is especially important in this regard, and the following
practices will help you avoid excessive intake of potato alkaloids:
Edgar Cayce Readings copyright 1971, 1993-2014 by the Edgar Cayce Foundation

41
DIET: NIGHTSHADE FAMILY CIRCULATING FILE

Store your potatoes for 1-3 weeks only in a dark cupboard,

preferably in a cool and dry part of the house such as a
basement (if your basement is dry). Its important not to keep
potatoes in a lighted area; the exposure to light will increase
alkaloid formation.
Wash all potatoes before cooking so youll be better able to spot the green areas, if
any.
Thoroughly cut out all green areas, especially green areas on the peel before
cooking. After cooking, if the potato tastes bitter, avoid eating it.
Do not purchase and eat potatoes that have been waxed. Waxes do not help
reduce greening and can increase potato decay by cutting down on gas exchange
in and out of the potato.
Avoiding or limiting your consumption of nightshade foods in your diet is a personal
choice.
You may find that reducing your intake of certain nightshade foods works best for
your body.
Others may find a dramatic improvement in their health by eliminating most
nightshade foods from their diet.
What is important is that you experiment with subtle dietary changes over time to
see what works best for your particular condition.
One final tip to consider is documenting any dietary changes so that you have a
written record to fall back on when comparing what is and isnt working.

Nightshade Vegetables and Arthritis Pain

Last Updated: Oct 19, 2013 | by Melissa Lind

Arthritis, also known as

degenerative joint disease, may result
in inflammation of the joints and
symptoms such as joint pain, swelling
and stiffness. A number of
medications are used to treat arthritis,
but dietary changes may improve the
condition somewhat. Some
professionals and natural health
advocates believe that the nightshade
family of vegetables may be
responsible for increasing inflammation in arthritis sufferers. As with any natural
or alternative health regimen, talk to your doctor before making changes in your
diet.

What are Nightshade Vegetables?

The nightshade family is named after a plant nightshade, a common
roadside weed that is highly toxic. Nightshade vegetables include potatoes,
eggplant, peppers and tomatoes. Tobacco is also a member of the nightshade
family. While nightshade vegetables are not toxic and are tolerated well by most
people, they do contain high levels of alkaloids, which appear to worsen
inflammation in some people. Worsening of inflammation may appear to
contribute to medical conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis
and arthritis, according to The Prescription for Dietary Wellness.

Are You Sensitive?

Not everyone will benefit from a nightshade-free diet. The best way to
determine whether nightshade vegetables may be contributing to inflammatory
conditions such as arthritis is to eliminate them from your diet. Improvement in
arthritis symptoms may show that you should avoid certain foods, particularly if
no other changes have taken place. Using a food diary to keep track of the foods
you eat and any resulting symptoms may be helpful. After eliminating all
nightshade vegetables from your diet, a dietician or physician may suggest a
rechallenge, which is the reintroduction of foods to your diet one at a time.

Other Foods that may be Inflammatory

Nightshade vegetables are not the only foods that are thought to be
inflammatory. Foods that are high in omega-6 fatty acids from animal products
such as red meat may increase inflammation, along with fatty and fried foods that
contain trans-fats. Refined sugars and white flour as well as foods such as high-
sugar sodas, snack foods and baked goods, may cause inflammatory problems
for some people. Still others may be intolerant of dairy or grain products, which
may increase mucus production and gastrointestinal problems as well as
contributing to inflammation within the body. As with the nightshade vegetables,
a dietician may assist you with an elimination diet that does not compromise
nutrition.

Foods that may be Useful

Omega-3 fatty acids, which are present in cold-water fish such as tuna,
halibut and salmon, are thought to be anti-inflammatory. Other healthy fats such
as olive oil may also help to reduce inflammation and replace unhealthy fats in
the diet. A diet that is higher in vegetables such as broccoli and spinach, along
with fruits such as citrus and berries, may provide high levels of antioxidants,
which are thought to be protective for age- and inflammation-related damage of
the joints and may help reduce the symptoms of arthritis.

Degenerative Arthritis (Osteoarthritis)

by Dr. Jonathan V. Wright MD
http://www.tahomaclinicblog.com/degenerative-arthritis-osteoarthritis/

Degenerative arthritis is also called osteoarthritis or wear and tear

arthritis. If youve been told you have one of these types of arthritis, theres a
good chance you can substantially reduce or even eliminate your symptoms,
while tapering down or even eliminating drugs you may be taking. Diet changes,
vitamins, minerals, natural metabolites, and herbals can all be significantly
helpful.
Mainstream medical treatment for degenerative arthritis includes aspirin,
other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, synthetic forms of cortisone both
swallowed and injected, and surgery. Although all of these drugs relieve
symptoms, theres increasing evidence that they accelerate the deterioration of
cartilage and actually make the underlying condition worse.
Sensitivity to certain alkaloids naturally present in nightshade vegetables
causes pain and swelling in a significant minority of individuals with degenerative
arthritis. Nightshade sensitivity is not the same as allergy, and is not detectable
by any laboratory tests in current use. The only way to figure out whether
nightshade vegetables bother you is to totally eliminate tomatoes, potatoes,
peppers, and eggplant from your diet, along with tobacco exposure in any form.
Even if youre nightshade sensitive and totally eliminate all of these, it can still
take three to four months for symptoms to recede. For a complete guide to a
nightshade free program, check your natural food store for books by Professor
Norman Childers.
Food allergies cause symptoms in another small minority of individuals
with degenerative arthritis. If youve had allergies in the past, have them now, or
if a member of your family has allergies, this is a definite possibility. Also, if a
five-day juice fast using a vegetable juice or juices you rarely drink is
associated with symptom relief its very likely you have significant food allergies.
For a referral to a doctor near you skilled and knowledgeable in food allergy
testing, contact the American Academy of Environmental Medicine at 913-642-
6062, or the International Federation of Electrodermal Screeners at 800-258-

Researchers have found so many supplemental items useful in improving
degenerative arthritis that I havent found it necessary to suggest them all.

Nightshade Free Pain Free by Michael Fowler

http://www.nightshadefree.com/nightshade-allergy-symptoms/
The first symptoms of the effects of nightshades are
sleepiness, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, in the first hour after
ingesting and often migraine headaches within 24 hours. Many
people suffer with chronic joint pain due to a sensitivity to
nightshade plants, which will eventually to arthritis if ignored.
However a sensitivity to nightshades is often thought of
as an allergy, but what is really happening is the body is reacting
to a mild poisons in nightshades: nicotine, solanine, atropine,
and others. Solanine is especial problematic as it is not water
soluble and is stored in the body mainly brain, heart, lung, and
liver tissues.
Most people are eating nightshade plants daily and have
no idea they contains small amounts of neurotoxins, that are
causing them pain and digestive problems. Tobacco is a
nightshade and the toxins take years to develop into cancer.
Most of the public are eating nightshades without even knowing
they are eating the same toxins found in tobacco.
Eggplant and white potatoes are only two of the many nightshades we eat. These plants
contain poisons that attack the nervous system, joints, brain, and even cause cancer and
inflammation. Unlike most toxins we encounter, nightshade toxins build up over time.
The toxins found in Nightshades (scopolamine , atropine, solanine, nicotine and more)
may be the leading cause of Arthritic inflammation, cancer, Alzheimers, Migraine headaches,
birth defects, miscarriages, inflammatory bowel disorder, and Crohns Disease.
In the book you will find the evidence from scientific studies showing how nightshades
are harmful to many people.
