Weekly Artist Assignment

Objectives-
Students will research an artist from given time period.
Students will write about the biography of artist and why they became well known.
Students will critique 3 different works from artist using element/principle terminology.

Woman

De Kooning used line, shape and color to carry the viewers eyes around the
work. Using line and shape allowed for an abstract construction of a figure.
The brushwork and varying warm/cool colors give the artwork a sense of
energy. The focal point of the image is the figures face and there are body
parts that stand out on the sides of the image and in the figures chest which
mimic the eyes.
