Content Standard Addressed: SB1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to analyze the nature of
the relationships between structures and functions in living cells.
a. Construct an explanation of how cell structures and organelles (including nucleus, cytoplasm,
cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplasts, lysosome, Golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, vacuoles,
Ribosomes, and mitochondria) interact as a system to maintain homeostasis.

Lesson idea implementation:


Students will works in groups each developing a narrated PowerPoint presentation on the different
organelles of cell. Students will then give their presentation to the class and will also develop content related
questions to ask their classmates at the end of the presentation. This project will be introduced by showing
the class an example of the kind of presentation they will be working towards. I believe that this lesson will
take 2 class periods. One class period to create the presentations and another class period to give the
presentations. Students learning will be assessed by the content of the presentation.
The students final products will be used to inform the other students on the organelles of the cell.
Since the students will be using their knowledge to create a product I believe that this will be at the highest
learning level. This lesson will be concluded with students filling out a chart with information about each
organelle. Feedback will be provided to the students through a rubric.
