Teacher Action: Teach the Understanding and Living the Virtues program
Each virtue will be taught during the school year when it is most conducive for the teacher
and grade level. It is suggested that the 2:00 time period on Friday be set aside for this.
Virtues will be taught at grade levels following the assignments below. Teachers will provide
a timeline of virtues as they will be taught through the year by Oct. 28th.
Purity Justice
Friendship Temperance
Fortitude Faith
Prudence Modesty
Respect Hope
Charity Charity
*Specialists will reinforce the virtues as they find appropriate during their delivery of instruction
in their curriculum areas.
Program Assessment: Writing or drawing assignment that demonstrates how the student can
practice this virtue in everyday living.
Objective 2.1
Students will apply knowledge and gain skills in computation that are relevant to their
particular learning experience.
Teacher Action: Introduce the program and document that students are participating in
various strategies to improve computation accuracy and time.
Students will use a monthly Math It calendar to record the number of minutes they practice
math computation. Sources may vary and may include texts, apps, websites, or flashcards.
Students work on improving their computation skills, write down the number of minutes they
practice, then parents sign the calendar and return it to the teacher at the end of each month.
When students reach the goal set for them, they achieve a reward. The class with the highest
% of students turning in a calendar reaching their goal may also be rewarded.
Program Assessment: Computation scores will improve on STAR Math tests, standardized tests,
and in math class.
