The capacity is at the base of the padeye is based on a plastic section at ultimate load conditions
If the plate is thin, the engineer may prefer to use the elastic section modulus for Mr and the peak
shear stress (1.5 fv) instead of the average shear stress for Vf.
The bearing of the pin on the hole is calculated using S16.1, 13.10 (b) which is based on the
Hertz equation for bearing of a cylindrical surface. For comparison, the old method of considering
the bearing stress on the projected bearing area of the pin is also shown but is considered less accurate.

Material Properties:
Yield strength of plate (see "Data Sheet" for plate material guidelines) Fy 345 MPa
Material performance factor phi 0.9
Loads (using factors for Lift Points): In Staad ?
Dynamic Amplification Factor = DAF = 1.15 Yes
Centre of Gravity Shift Factor = COG = 1.03 Yes
Consequence Factor = CF = 1.35 No
Skew Load Effect = SKL = 1.40 Yes
Dead Load Factor = DLF = 1.25 Yes
Factored load applied to padeye from lift analysis = P = 160 kN
Horizontal (out-of-plane) Load on Padeye (as % of applied load) = H = 10%
Maximum angle from vertical = Alpha = 90 degrees
Total Lift Factor = DAF x COG x CF x SKL x DLF = TLF = 2.80
Lift Factor Applied to Lift Analysis Loads = CF = LF = 1.35
Total Factored Load = P * LF = 1.35 * 160 = Pf = 216 kN
Factored Horizontal Load = 10% * 216 kN out-of-plane = Hf = 22 kN
Working Load (minimum SWL) = Pf / TLF = WL = 77 kN
y = 107 mm
x = -34 mm
x x = (A - (Tp + 2Tc))/2

Padeye Geometry:
Diameter of Hole Dh = 10 mm
Diameter Cheek Plates Cheek Pl. Dc = 20 mm
Radius of Main Plate Rm = 90 mm
Hp
Height to Center of Hole Hh = 50 mm
Height at end of Main Pl. Hh Hp = 100 mm

Length of Main Plate Lp = 100 mm
Thickness of Main Plate Lp Tp = 50 mm
Thickness Cheek Plates Tc = 50 mm
Geometry Notes:
Edge distance = Rm - Dh/2 85.0 mm Dh = 10 OK
Free play between hole and pin, Dh - Dp -47.2 mm WARNING: Pin bigger
(Recommend Dh = Dp + 3 for D 50mm, Dh = Dp + 6 for D > 50mm) than hole
Free play between cheek Pl's and Padeye = G p - (Tp + 2 * Tc) = -67.5 mm
