Bubble Sheet Form refers to the answer sheet form developed which is patterned after

the College of Engineering answer sheet format. It contains square boxes for the student

ID number and Section ID, Test ID Marking and three thumbprints at the edge.

Cell - a region that resulted after the Grid map was used to divide the whole region of the

bubble sheet form into rows and columns.

Database directory of all the administered questionnaires, test items, answer key,

student records and results, item analysis reports and the registered users.

Discrimination Index range of value from -1 to +1 that determines whether the item is

to be retained, revised, and rejected.

Difficulty Index range of value from 0 to +1 that determines whether each provided

alternative were plausible.

Grid Map used to divide each region in the provided bubble sheet form

Image Processing the two-stage process undergone by the scanned file before the

Optical Mark Recognition Processing is done.

Image Enhancement the first stage in Image Processing where the alpha color,

brightness and contrast of the scanned image was altered to create a clear distinction

between the color white and black.

Image Resizing the second stage in Image Processing where the edges detection is

performed to undergo mathematical analysis in reference to the thumbprint on the bubble

sheet form.

Lower Group- refers to the number of students classified as the bottom 27% scorer of

the total number of students that had participated in the exam given.

Mark Location Algorithm algorithm used to define whether the markings made on the

bubble sheet form is a line or an encircled area.

Optical Mark Recognition technology used to detect the absence or presence of a

mark using the algorithm developed for pixel-based summation.

Pixel-based Cell Mark Capture algorithm used to determine the degree of color

present on each cell defined on the bubble sheet form developed.

Section ID two unique identification number assigned for each engineering major

course taking up Correlations I class.

Test ID Marking barcode-like image attached to the bubble sheet form that serves as

an identification number that is referred to by the system in the checking process.

Thumbprint three darkened squares positioned at the two upper edge and lower left of

the answer sheet, which serves as the reference point for Image Resizing.

U-L Index Method of Item Analysis the item analysis method by Stocklein at the year

1957 where the upper and lower 27% of the total class is considered to determine the

difficulty and discrimination index. (Refer to Appendix I for the complete procedure).

Upper Group- refers to the number of students classified as the top 27% scorer of the

total number of students that had participated in the exam given.
