Definition:
Antiderivatives- also called as the INDEFINITE INTEGRAL,
are the reverse operation of derivative, wherein the original
function is being solved for, given the derivative.

The Process of finding the anti-derivative is called anti-

differentiation or integration. An anti- differentiation can be
denoted by this notation,
() ,
Parts of integral Equation

( ) = ( ) +

(1)Integral sign is a symbols which denotes that the anti

derivative of the function is to be taken.
(2)Integrand is the part of integral equation wherein its
antiderivative is to be taken. Note the presence of dx. It only
means that we are going to take the integral with respect to x.
(3)The antiderivative of the given function- is the resulting
function after the antiderivative has been taken.
(4)Arbitrary Constant or Constant of Integration- So, if we
are asked to express an integral given, the functions, we will
have the equation, () = () + .

Exponential Functions and Logarithmic Functions

Example 1: Solve integral of exponential function ex32x3dx
Solution:
Step 1: the given function is ex^33x2dx
Step 2: Let u = x3 and du = 3x2dx
Step 3: Now we have: ex^33x2dx= eudu
Step 4: According to the properties listed above: exdx = ex+c, therefore eudu = eu + c
Step 5: Since u = x3 we now have eudu = ex3dx = ex^3 + c
So the answer is ex^3 + c

Example 2: Integrate .
Solution: First, split the function into two parts, so that we get:
