Replication Technology Evolution for ATLAS Data Workshop

CERN, Geneva. June 2014
Motivation

To provide an example of the integration the GoldeGate

(GG) infrastructure into the Real Application Cluster.
Installation GoldenGate (GG)

GoldenGate binary deployment

Compressed software binaries (121200_fbo_ggs_Linux_x64_shiphome.zip) downloaded from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/goldengate/downloads/index.html

Installed in a shared directory (/GG_DATA) accessible by the RAC nodes using Oracle ACFS file
system.

General environment variables defined during the installation of the software via OUI

Note: For the installation include the GG software location directory

(GG_HOME=/GG_DATA/oracle/product/12.1.2/gg) and the database home in the library path for
dynamic builds.
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$GG_HOME:$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
Installation GoldenGate
GoldenGate general configuration deployment

Create the OGG working directories using the GG command GGSCI (Oracle GoldenGate Software Command
lnterface) :

Edit and save

the GLOBALS file
Configure the following
Parameters as needed
Installation GoldenGate
GG configuration
Create and edit and save the Manager parameter file:

Parameters used when deploying GG in a HA architecture

GG RAC configuration
Enable the VIP for GG
As ROOT create new VIP resource. Use a dedicated IP, 192.12.15.145

As ROOT allow oracle user to start the VIP

As ORACLE start the service

Check the resource status

GG RAC configuration
Adapt or develop the agent script (12c2_gg_action.scr)
/GG_DATA/oracle/product/12.1.2/gg/12c2_gg_action.scr

Verify this parameters reflect your

environment

Verify the script is executable

chmod +x 12c2_gg_action.scr

Sample taken from Metalink ( Doc ID 1391398.1)

Register GG resource (ggtestapp) in the Clusterware

Verify the ggtestapp resource is available as clusterware resource:

Test OGG resource failover

Verify the
ggtestapp
resource is
available
Using GGSCI check the status
