OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Two looping video inputs are provided on the rear panel, labelled input 1 and 2.
An NTSC source may be fed into either or both inputs and the desired source may
be selected by depressing input 1 or 2 pushbutton on the front panel.

To feed the decoder with a S-Video source, connect the Y signal to input 1 and the
C signal to input 2. Depress and hold input select pushbutton 1 and then depress
input pushbutton 2.
NOTE: As these inputs are looping they must be terminated.

Four variable parameters are available. Hue, Saturation, YC Delay and

Luminance Equalization. To change any of these parameters, depress the required
function pushbutton. Depressing the + or - pushbutton will alter the selected
parameter.
NOTE: In the YC mode of operation, Luminance Equalization is inoperative.

The bar graph will show the variation from unity of Hue, Saturation and
Equalization. The center two LEDs will be illuminated when setting is at unity
for Hue and Saturation. Any LEDs illuminated either to the left or right of center
indicates a plus or minus deviation from unity. For Equalization, the extreme left
hand LEDs will be illuminated when no high frequency has been added.

There are 6 positions of variable YC delay. This changes the relative Luminance
to Chroma timing before the chroma is demodulated. It should be set for the
sharpest resolution along vertical edge information while viewing the decoded
RGB.
The fourth position (which will illuminate the bar graph to the letter D in
Decoder) is unity delay. Setting to the left of this point will delay chroma and
settings to the right will advance chroma. Each position represents 40 ns.

To store a set of the four variable parameters: depress the memory pushbutton
followed by one of the 3 store pushbuttons. The parameters are now stored in the
selected, non-volatile memory.

The memory may be recalled by depressing the appropriate pushbutton (1, 2 or 3).
The stored settings will be displayed on the bar graph and evident on the picture
monitor. Should it be necessary to alter any of the stored settings, simply select
the required parameter and adjust as previously described. As soon as any one of
the stored parameters has been altered, the store number button will flash,
indicating the present conditions are not the same as those in memory. Depressing
the flashing store number pushbutton will return all parameters to the previously
stored values. Depressing the memory pushbutton followed by the flashing store
button will store the updated values.

The D101 is shipped with non comp RGB. If it should be necessary to add sync to
any or all of these signals there are three jumpers at the center rear of the circuit
board (labelled SYNC ON). Placing a jumper in the forward position will add
sync to that output.

D101 CALIBRATION

Feed composite SMPTE or EIA color bars to NTSC input. Select NTSC on front
panel. Set HUE and SAT for unity (two center LEDs) and DLY to the minus end
of the display.

1. Monitor Y output. Adjust R135 (comp Y LVL) for 700mv video and R134
for 300mv sync.

2. Scope IC7 pin 3 and adjust R148 (ACC Bal) for 1 Vp-p of B-Y signal.

3. Monitor R-Y output. Adjust R123 (R-Y GAIN) for 700mvp-p and R124
(R-Y DC) for 0V DC at blanking.

4. Monitor B-Y output. Adjust R151 (B-Y GAIN) for 700mvp-p and R156
(B-Y DC) for 0v DC at blanking.

5. Monitor SYNC output. Adjust R160 (SYNC GAIN) for 4vp-p.

6. Monitor BLUE output. Adjust R210 (b Bal) for correct BLUE waveform.
Adjust R140 (SYNC CLIP) to remove sync from blue signal. R140 may be
set to remove or retain setup as required.

7. Adjust R179 (B GAIN) for 700mv on white flag.

8. Move BLUE SYNC jumper to SYNC ON position. Adjust R180 (B

SYNC) for 40 IRE SYNC on blue signal.

9. Return BLUE SYNC jumper to SYNC OFF position. Adjust R167 (B DC)
for 0v DC at blanking.

Repeat steps 6-9 for RED and GREEN outputs.
