their rights, in accordance with the international obligations of the country.
The guidance for the coordination, direction and controlling of the work of the Reception Centres
ensuring the proper operation, in cooperation with the Asylum Service and other authorities, as more
specifically defined in Law 3907/11 and the regulatory acts issued in accordance with it.
The preparation of the General Rules of the Reception Centres
The guidance for the smooth and seamless service operation and proper functioning of the
reception and asylum procedures, according with particular conditions and operating rules of the
operationally distinct groups of the Reception Centres which are :1. The Logistics Group, which is
responsible for the administrative support of the Centre, 2. The Identification Group, which is
responsible for verifying the identity and other information of third-country nationals, 3.The Medical
Screening and Psychosocial Support Group,and 4. The Information Group, which is responsible for
providing information to third-country nationals on their rights and obligations and the right to
International Protection.
The guidance for the efficient performance of the Reception Centres mission, especially the
adequacy of the reception conditions and the referral of the vulnerable groups (unaccompanied
minors, victims of torture etc) to the competent services.
The supervision, evaluation and the control of the personnel of the Department as well as the
allocation of the relevant duties.
The guidance for the preparation of the Reception Centres bylaws, exercising any other power
assigned by law and the regulations of the Reception and Identification Service.
The ensuring of continuous staff training, the assessing training needs in matters of asylum and
reception issues and the organizing training activities in cooperation with other Services or
Organizations, in particular the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Organization
for Migration, Child Protection organizations, etc,
Allowing Access of entry in Reception Centres to social institutions providing assistance to
refugees and immigrants.
