1. NOTES ON THE DOCUMENTATION
Thank you for buying the CE approved FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit.
Before installing and using this appliance, please read the instructions
carefully and keep them in safe place for future reference. The instructions
below are intended to help you throughout the entire documentation.
1.1 OTHER APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
When assembling the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit, pay
attention to all the installation instructions for the components
and assemblies within the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit
installation. These instructions are included with the individual
components of the system and the additional components.
We accept no liability for any damage caused by failure to
observe these instructions!
1.2 STORAGE OF THE DOCUMENTS
Please pass on this installation and maintenance manual and all other
applicable documents and auxiliary equipment to the authorised
person, whose responsibility it is to ensure the manuals and auxiliary
equipment are available whenever required.

1.4 APPLICABILITY OF THIS MANUAL

2. INTENDED USE
The FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit is built according to the state-of-
the-art and recognised safety rules and regulations.
The FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit must be installed, inspected,
maintained, tested and recharged only by fire protection personnel -
qualified and trained by CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A.
- in accordance with existing regulations, rules and guidelines including
requirements of the Governmental and/or Local Authority and other
regulatory authorities, e.g.:
- Standard of the National Fire Protection
Association No. 2001 Clean Agent Systems
- Chemical manufacturers instructions for Safe
Handling and Transferring of Chemical Agents
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for eventual damage caused
by inappropriate, improper or irresponsible use and / or for repairs made to
the product by unauthorised personnel.
Intended use includes observance of the operating and installation manuals
and all other applicable documents, as well as adherence to maintenance
and inspection conditions.
CAUTION
For your own safety, do not allow anyone other than fire
protection personnel - qualified and trained by CEODEUX
Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. - to install, service or
repair this appliance. Any improper use is forbidden.
2.1 COMBINATION WITH OTHER COMPONENTS
The FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit must not be combined
with components produced by other manufacturers than CEODEUX
Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. The use of other components
shall be considered as improper use. We accept no liability.
3. SCOPE OF DELIVERY
After having removed the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit from the
packaging, make sure that the kit and eventually optional components are
complete and in perfect condition.
NOTE
Check the kit for completeness based on the illustrations
and article numbers on pages 3 to 6.

4. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Direct high pressure (DHP) valve

DHP cylinder valves of the B0703 group can be operated with the
FireDETEC sensor tubing. The FireDETEC sensor tubing is connected
to the ball valve on the low-pressure side of the DHP cylinder valve and
installed in the fire hazard area.

The FireDETEC sensor tubing is designed to burst at approximately 110C.

At this temperature the pressure in the FireDETEC sensor tubing releases
suddenly. The sudden release of pressure activates the DHP cylinder valve
and floods the protected area with extinguishing agent. O-ring

5.1 ADDITIONAL TOOLS FOR INSTALLATION Ball valve
For the installation of the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit you
need additional tools, that are not included in the kit:
- drill machine Filling port
- screwdrivers
- set of wrenches Sensor tube
- scales connection

Additional tools, that must be ordered from CEODEUX Extinguisher

Valves Technology S.A.:
- tube cutter (Art. No. B07850001)
- filling adapter (Art. No. B07810005) NOTE
- sensor tube gripping tool (Art. No. 024920014) 1. The steps 1 to 5 are also applicable for refilling /
recharging after discharging.

5.2 ASSEMBLY AND FILLING OF THE CYLINDER

All FireDETEC cylinders have a nameplate providing the following
information: 5.3 CONNECTION PARTS ON THE LOW PRESSURE SIDE

- Agent weight The optional pressure switch is connected to the valve assembly
- Weight information to provide additional electrical functions that may be required.
- Safety Instructions

1. Close the ball valve on the low-pressure side!

2. Remove the safety nut of the filling connector.
3. Screw the filling line on the W21,8 x 1/14 filling port. The filling
port has an orange ring for identification.
4. Make sure that only clean cylinders are used for filling.
5. Do the filling procedure only if the ambient temperature in the
working area is approximately 20C. For safety reasons the ball
valve outlet must remain closed.

DANGER
Make sure that the ball valve is in the OFF position during
installation. Failure to follow these instructions will result
in the system discharging and may cause damage or injury. CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. recommends attaching the
pressure switch to the alarmbox, Art. No. B07850008. The alarmbox must
be ordered as optional component.

5.4 MOUNTING OF THE CYLINDER

Determine the location of the cylinder. The cylinder must be placed
outside the protected area.

DANGER
1. Do not locate the cylinder inside the protected area!
2. Do not locate cylinders where they are exposed to
moisture, physical damage, chemicals, harsh weather
conditions or direct sunlight.
5. Press the end of the FireDETEC sensor tubing with our special
sensor tube gripping tool on the screw connection nipple.
CAUTION
1. Install the cylinder only in an easy accessible area. The
cylinder must be located so that inspection and maintenance
activities can be carried out easily and the interruption of the
fire protection system is as short as possible.
2. Install the cylinder always in upright position. Do not turn
the cylinder upside down. The valve must always face
upwards and the label on the valve must be visible.

5.5 INSTALLATION OF THE FIREDETEC SENSOR TUBING CAUTION

structure of the protected area. The bend radius for the FireDETEC sensor NOTE
tubing is ten (10) cm for red tubing and fifteen (15) cm for black tubing. The procedure should be performed by qualified
personnel.

1. Do not make kinks in the FireDETEC sensor tubing.

7. Unscrew the tightening nut. Check if there is an even trumpet-like
change in shape at the end of the FireDETEC sensor tubing. If

5.6 FITTING THE FIREDETEC SENSOR TUBING TO THE SCREW CON-

NECTION NIPPLE AND THE END OF LINE ADAPTER
1. Cut the ends of the FireDETEC sensor tubing off evenly. Use our special
FireDETEC tube cutter.
2. Make sure that the wall thickness at the ends of the FireDETEC sensor tub-
ing is equal. The difference in wall thickness must not exceed 0.1 mm.
3. Make sure that the ends of the FireDETEC sensor tubing, the screw connec-
tion nipple and the end line adapter are clean and free of dust.
4. Remove the nut from the ball valve and put it on the FireDETEC sensor
tubing with the thread facing to the end of the FireDETEC sensor tubing. If there is no trumpet-like change repeat steps 1 to 7.

8. Press the FireDETEC sensor tubing on the screw connection
nipple as far as it will go. Carefully wrench-tighten the nut. The
FireDETEC sensor tubing is now correctly connected to the valve.
5.7. ARMING THE SYSTEM
1. Make sure that all connections to the end of line adapter and DHP
cylinder valve (low-pressure side) are secured and tightened.
2. Slowly open the ball valve on the main cylinder valve
3. Check that the system is correctly pressurized via the end of
line adapter gauge. The needle should be in the green zone.

put it on the FireDETEC sensor tubing with the thread of the screw

12. Unscrew the tightening nut. Check if there is an even trumpet-like
change in shape at the end of the FireDETEC sensor tubing. If

7. MAINTENANCE
7.1 GENERAL
The FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit must be maintained only by
qualified personnel, that is responsible for adhering to the existing
regulations, rules and guidelines including requirements of the Govern-
mental and / or Local Authority and other regulatory authorities. For the
definition of qualified personnel refer also to chapter 2 Intended Use.

7.2 MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

The following maintenance programme must be obeyed for the con-
tinuous operation of the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit. A main-
tenance log must be maintained for ready reference.

7.3 MAINTENANCE INTERVALS
The following steps must be performed every month:
1. Check the cylinder and all parts of the FireDETEC All-
purpose CO2 direct kit for physical damage, deterioration
or corrosion. If any deterioration or corrosion is visible,
replace the damaged parts. Replace all corroded parts.
2. Check all support brackets. Tighten loose fittings.
3. Check the FireDETEC sensor tubing. Make sure that there
are no kinds of abrasion, cuts, kinks. If there are kinds of
abrasion, cuts, kinks replace the FireDETEC sensor tubing.
4. Remove dirt and dust from the FireDETEC sensor tubing.
5. Make sure that the FireDETEC sensor tubing is free of
obstructions that would prevent the detection of a fire.
6. Check the pressure gauge. Make sure that the pressure is
correct (green indicating range). Refer also to chapter 5.7. If
the pressure is in the lower green range or in the red range,
remove the cylinder for repair or recharge or replacement.
7. Verify enclosure measurements and make sure that
there are no changes to size and volume.
8. Check the ventilation system. Make sure that no
changes have been made to the system.
The following steps must be performed
every twelve (12) months:
Check the weight in the cylinder. If the weight has lost five per-
cent (5%) of the weight stamped on the label, the cylinder must
be removed for repair or recharge or replacement. For checking the
weight of the cylinder:
1. Remove the tamper seal from the ball valve and close the ball
valve. Make sure that the ball valve is in the OFF position.
2. Disconnect the FireDETEC sensor tubing from
the ball valve. There will be a loss of pressure in
the FireDETEC sensor tubing at this time.
3. Disconnect the extinguishing line from the DHP cylinder valve.
4. Put the safety nut on the discharge port.
5. Loosen the stainless steel straps at the cylinder
mounting bracket and remove the cylinder.
6. Weigh the cylinder with a certified scale.
The following must be performed every
five (5) to seven (7) years:
1. Do a complete visual check. Fire suppression system cylinders in
service for five (5) years* must be given a complete external visual
inspection by approved inspectors**.
2. The FireDETEC sensor tubing must be completely replaced.
7.4 POST FIRE MAINTENANCE
After a fire the FireDETEC sensor tubing must be completely replaced.
The cylinder must be recharged or replaced. Additionally all parts of the
system must be given a visual inspection.
* Every 5-7 years, depending on regulations.

8. RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL
All parts of the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit and all accessories must
be returned to CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. or to an autho-
rised CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. representative for recy-
cling and disposal. The transport packaging of the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2
direct kit must be handed over to a proper disposal organisation.
DANGER
DHP cylinder: Disposal of the DHP cylinder must only be
done by qualified specialists. Do not inhale gas when
disposing the DHP cylinder. Risk to health!
9. LIMITED WARRANTY
The CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. limited warranty covers
defects in workmanship and materials of the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2
direct kit and optional components when used for its originally intended pur-
pose under normal conditions for a period of two (2) years from the date of
original purchase at point of sale to the originally-installed end user location.
During the warranty period, the warranty is transferable to a different owner as
long as the product remains installed at the originally-installed end user location.
The limited warranty is based on the following conditions:
1. The product must be supplied and installed by an authorised
CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. representative in
accordance with the written instructions in this Installation and
Maintenance Manual and other documents supplied with CEODEUX
Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. products.
2. The CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. products must not
have been disassembled, altered or modified.
3. The end user must maintain a semi-annual maintenance agreement
with an authorised CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A.
representative, starting from the date the CEODEUX Extinguisher
Valves Technology S.A. product was accepted by the end user.
4. This service agreement must remain in effect for the duration of the
limited warranty.
To claim your warranty:
1. Please contact your CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology
S.A. representative immediately and explain the nature of
the problem.
2. Provide the CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A.
representative with your warranty details and proof of purchase.
If the claim is within the warranty period and within the terms
of the warranty, make arrangements for service and repairs or a
replacement product provided by a CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves
Technology S.A. approved representative and return the product

During the warranty period, CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A.

will, at its option, repair or replace the defective product within forty-five
(45) days, provided that CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A.
through inspection establishes the existence of a defect that is covered by
the limited warranty.

CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. will, at its option, use new and/
or reconditioned parts in repairing or replacing the defective product. CEODEUX
Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. reserves the right to use parts or products of
original or improved design in the repair or replacement of the defective product.

If CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. repairs or replaces a defective

product, the limited warranty continues on the repaired or replacement
product for the remainder of the original warranty period or ninety (90)
days from the date of CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. return
shipment of the repaired or replacement product, whichever is later.

The limited warranty does not apply to, and CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves
Technology S.A. will not be responsible for, any defect in or damage to
any CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. product:

1. that has been misused, neglected, tampered with, altered,

or otherwise damaged, either internally or externally;
2. that has been improperly installed, operated, handled or used,
including use under conditions for which the product was not designed,
use in an unsuitable environment, or use in a manner contrary
to the CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. Installation
and Maintenance Manual or applicable laws or regulations;
3. that has been subjected to fire, water, generalized corrosion,
biological infestations, acts of God, solar radiation or operating
conditions beyond the maximum or minimum limits listed in
the CEODEUX Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. specifications,
including high input voltage or lightning strikes;
4. if the original identification labels (including trademark or
serial number) of the FireDETEC All-purpose CO2 direct kit and
optional components have been defaced, altered, or removed.

include labour costs related to un-installing the defective product
or re-installing the repaired or replacement product. CEODEUX
Extinguisher Valves Technology S.A. is not liable for variations in
product performance due to normal wear of parts, which by their
nature are subject to continuous wear.

THE LIMITED WARRANTY IS THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY GIVEN BY

CEODEUX EXTINGUISHER VALVES TECHNOLOGY S.A. AND, WHERE PERMITTED
BY LAW, IS MADE EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS
OR IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION,
WARRANTIES OF TITLE, QUALITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT OR WARRANTIES AS TO
THE ACCURACY, SUFFICIENCY OR SUITABILITY OF ANY TECHNICAL OR OTHER
INFORMATION PROVIDED IN MANUALS OR OTHER DOCUMENTATION. IN NO
EVENT WILL CEODEUX EXTINGUISHER VALVES TECHNOLOGY S.A. BE LIABLE FOR
ANY SPECIAL, DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES,
LOSSES, COSTS OR EXPENSES HOWEVER ARISING, WHETHER IN CONTRACT OR
TORT, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY ECONOMIC LOSSES OF ANY KIND,
