W e got a small glimpse of what is to come in Northwest Wichita
this spring and summer when the city made pavement repairs on
21st St N between Maize and Tyler Roads. This was a great, albeit over-
due, project for a busy arterial street that we all inevitably use . And,

more work is coming to the area this spring and summer!

3 scheduled for crack repair and sealing this year (similar to what was

School Boundaries
Last year was contentious for USD
266 school parents as the district
made plans to move to a address/
boundary placement system.
Woodbridge ended up in the
north boundary, which is served
by Maize Middle School and
Maize High School. Elementary
school placement is unaffected.

The roll off container will be hosted on the Covington side this year at
2115 N Covington Cir. Please be courteous to your neighbors; try to
spread out your waste and make sure it does not extend up higher than the
edges of the container

In addition to these locations, those who travel to the Maize South School
complex will want to know that Wichita is also scheduled to apply an asphalt
preservation treatment on W Silver Fox St from Maize Rd to 1200 ft to the
east.
There are no exact dates for the maintenance work, but traffic will only be lim-
ited in spots with no anticipated road closures. The work will not take long to
complete at each location. We never like to see the orange cones pop up on
our daily routes, but its a temporary convenience that helps us avoid major
headaches later.
H AV E Y O U PA I D Y O U R A N N U A L
T he HOA collects an annual assessment, also referred to
as dues, from each property to fund the maintenance
needs of the Commons Areas and other related activities like
the roll-off containers and tree limb service on the annual
cleanup weekend. The annual assessment is $140, and is
collected every January. There are still about 25 properties
for which the HOA has not received a payment.
In accordance with the HOA Covenants, fees are added to late payments and
are compounded monthly. Now is the time to pay your annual assessment if
you have not already paid. Reminder notices will be sent to all properties with
outstanding debts.
The board encourages those with a balance due to contact the treasurer, Joe

much is currently outstanding and to arrange for payment.

Y ou see the white bags in yards and driveways every weekits the Neighbors Edition of the
Wichita Eagle. It is delivered to every house in our neighborhood, even if you do not sub-
scribe to the Wichita Eagle. Some of you have even attempted to stop the deliveries, but likely to
no avail. The city of Augusta considered creating an ordinance to prevent the deliveries in 2015
due to so many complaints, but decided to simply ask citizens to complain to the Wichita Eagle
after the papers attorney called to inform the city a lawsuit would be filed if it proceeded with
the effort.
There have been Facebook posts, a citizen petition, and even the City of Wichita has received a
lot of complaints demanding that the paper stop delivering to properties that do not want the shopper, as theyre
called in the newspaper industry. If you ask the Wichita Eagle, you simply need to call (316) 268-6209 or email
csrequest@wichitaeagle.com to request a stop in delivery or to report deliveries to vacant properties.
It sounds simple, but it doesnt seem to work as advertised. These shoppers have become annoying to some in the
neighborhood; frustrating to others. The HOA board has no control over the delivering of the shoppers, either. How-
ever, it is a problem that doesnt go away by ignoring them.
Despite the loath of this unrequested shopper, we all still have a responsibility to be good and responsible neighbors. If
you fail to pick up the shopper that was delivered to your house, it likely ends up in the gutter at some point. From
there it ends up in the stormwater sewers, and then into our pond. We pick up plenty of these old, unwanted shoppers
every June when we clean up around the pond and waterways. Everything that ends up in our stormwater inlets is sent
to the pond.
Please, be courteous and clean up these shoppers before they end up in the pond. Contact the Wichita Eagle as noted
above and request to have the deliveries stopped. It may not work, but its worth a quick email or simple phone call.
