Symbol Libraries Databases

AutoCAD Electrical provides library symbols that comply with Catalog Lookup parts catalog database.
the standards: The following naming convention and search sequence is
IEEE 315/315A used:
IEC-60617 <project name>_CAT.MDB located in the same folder
NFPA as the .wdp file for the active project
The symbols are located in DEFAULT_CAT.MDB located in the same folder as the
\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Acade {version}\Libs .wdp file for the active project
DEFAULT_CAT.MDB located in
Icon Menus \Users\{username}\Documents\Acade
Use the icon menu to insert schematic and panel components. {version}\AeData\{language code}\Catalogs
The program defaults to icon menu ACE_<standard>_MENU.DAT DEFAULT_CAT.MDB located in a support folder
for schematic symbols and ACE_PANEL_MENU.DAT for panel Footprint Lookup maps the graphical footprint symbols
symbols. These menu files are located in to catalog part numbers.
\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD The following naming convention and search sequence is
Electrical {version}\{release}\{country code}\Support. used:
<project name>_FOOTPRINT_LOOKUP.MDB located in
Circuit Builder
the same folder as the .wdp file for the active project
ACE_CIRCUIT_BUILDER.XLS - defines the available circuits,
FOOTPRINT_LOOKUP.MDB located in the same folder
circuit types, and defaults for each option within a circuit.
as the .wdp file for the active project
Located in \Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\AcadE
FOOTPRINT_LOOKUP.MDB located in
{version}\{language code}\Support.
\Users\{username}\Documents\Acade
ACE_ELECTRICAL_STANDARDS.MDB - defines default values and {version}\AeData\{language code}\Catalogs
engineering calculations, annotates circuits, and provides wire FOOTPRINT_LOOKUP.MDB located in a support folder
type analysis.
Schematic Lookup maps the schematic symbols when
Din Rail and Wireway inserted from panel footprints.
The following naming convention and search sequence is
WDDINRL.XLS used to parametrically generate din rail and
used:
wireway. Located in \Users\{username}\Documents\Acade
{version}\AeData\{language code}\Catalogs. <project name>_SCHEMATIC_LOOKUP.MDB located in
the same folder as the .wdp file for the active project
Miscellaneous Text Files SCHEMATIC_LOOKUP.MDB located in the same folder
WD_DESC.WDD lists various standard component description as the .wdp file for the active project
selections, accessible by clicking Defaults on the Insert/Edit SCHEMATIC_LOOKUP.MDB located in
dialog boxes. \Users\{username}\Documents\Acade
WD_FAM.DAT - maps the family codes to new values, overriding {version}\AeData\{language code}\Catalogs
the family tag code of the library symbols. SCHEMATIC_LOOKUP.MDB located in a support folder
DEFAULT.WDT attribute mapping file for Title Block update. WD_LANG1.MDB used when convert description or
switch position component text from one language to
DEFAULT.WDA user-defined attribute list used in reports.
another. Located in \Users\{username}\Documents\Acade
DEFAULT.INST, DEFAULT.LOC - lists the default installation and {version}\AeData\{language code}\Catalogs.
location codes, accessible by clicking Project in the Installation
ACE_PLC.MDB used to generate PLC I/O modules.
or location section of the Insert/Edit dialog boxes.
Located in \Users\{username}\Documents\Acade
DEFAULT_WDTITLE.WDL - customizes the generic LINEx labels in {version}\AeData\{language code}\PLC.
the various title block and project information dialog boxes.

Schematic Symbol Naming Convention Default Family Codes
The first character is either "H" or "V" for horizontal or vertical wire insertion. AM: Ammeters
The next two characters are reserved for family type (for example, PB for AN: Buzzers, horns, bells
push buttons, CR for control relays, LS for limit switches). CB: Circuit breakers
The fourth character is generally a 2 for child contacts and 1 for everything C0: Connectors/pins
else (parent or standalone component). CR: Control relays
If the symbol is a contact, then the fifth character is a 1 for normally open, 2 DI: Din Rail
for normally closed. DN: Device networks
The remaining characters are not specified. They are used to keep names DO: Diodes
unique. Symbol names are limited to 32 characters. DR: Drives
DS: Disconnect switches
EN: Enclosures/hardware
Replaceable Parameters FM: Frequency meters
Replaceable parameters are codes used to define tagging formats. FS: Flow sensors
FT: Foot switches
Device tags, wire numbers, cross-reference parameters: FU: Fuses
%F: Component family code string (for example, "PB," "SS," "CR," "FLT," "MTR") LR: Latching relays
%S: Sheet number of the drawing (for example, "01" entered in upper right) LS: Limit switches
%D: Drawing number LT: Lights, pilot lights
%G: Wire layer name MISC: Miscellaneous
%N: Sequential or Reference-based number applied to the component MO: Motors
%X: Suffix character position for reference-based tagging (not present = end of MS: Motor starters/contactors
tag) NP: Nameplates
%P: IEC-style project code (default for drawing) OL: Overloads
%I: IEC-style installation code (default for drawing) PB: Push buttons
%L: IEC-style location code (default for drawing) PE: Photo switches
