Introduction
This Online Guide 1 integrates and measures primarily the receptive skills: listening, reading,
language use and the productive skill: writing. It places equal emphasis on them, which is why;
the test items are designed with an average standard score per skill. In this First Period, and
after completion of units 1 to 6, the above-mentioned skills will be assessed.

The Online Guide 1 is a 40-item multiple-choice test and consists of four sections:

1. Listening section: This section will have 10 multiple-choice questions which are based
on a video material taken from YouTube or any other audio resource on the internet and
according to the students level. It assesses students abilities to understand context,
main idea, and supporting details in a conversation.
2. Reading section: This section will have 10 multiple-choice questions which are,
basically, about two different articles, one from your Students book Big Picture-Pre
Intermediate and the other one from any other source of information. The articles will
be found in a Word file. It assesses students abilities to understand main and
supporting ideas in written articles, vocabulary, and the authors interest.
3. Language Use section: This section will have 10 multiple-choice questions which are
focused on the main grammatical structures and vocabulary in the students book. It
assesses the students ability to recognise statements that are contextually appropriate
and grammatically correct.
4. Writing section: This section will have 10 multiple-choice questions which are based
on an analytical writing activity. It assesses the students ability to choose the best
option about how certain sentences should be written in a specific content knowledge
learned in the students book.

Student assistance
1. Listening & Reading sections: The material for these two sections is going to be sent
to all of the students in advance to be ready for the Online Guide 1.
In order to watch the video and find the word file that has the information about the
articles, you should do the following:

FOR THE VIDEO:

To access and watch the video, you need to go to the "Sites" section then, First
Period and click on the video that you will find there.

FOR THE WORD FILE:

To access and download the word file, you need to go to the "Files" section then, First
Period and click on "Articles Online Guide 1".

We recommend that you watch the video and read the articles as many times as you
want to before you do the Online Guide 1. Its a good idea to take notes on important
information that you can find in this material because this is something that will help you
with the solution of your guide in advance.

2. Language Use section: you have to study the grammatical structures and vocabulary
from unit 1 to unit 6 that are in your textbook.

3. Writing section: you have to study grammar rules, check for correctly spelled words,
and vocabulary.

This is a multiple-choice Online Guide that has 40 questions.

For each question, there are three options, so you must choose the correct
Instructions answer.
You will have 60 minutes to do your Guide 1.
