CASE STUDY

Chronicle Bus Company in University XYZ wishes to create a database to monitor the operation
of their buses. The Company operates a fleet of 50 buses that serve approximately 3,000
university students. The bus operation involves 11 regular routes in university, plus special routes
for those who wants to book for activities like athletic events, family days, semester holidays,
convocation days and etc. Both routes will be assigned route numbers based on the description of
the area covered and date as well time the services take place. The cost of the regular route is
calculated based on number of trips per month. While cost for special route is based on number of
kilometre and number of hours the bus has to give service. The company also keeps details about
buses such as make, model and year of registration in a file and each bus is uniquely identified by
registration number. The company employs 50 full time drivers and details such as staff number,
name, license number, class and expiry date will be kept in their personnel files.

Question:
Identify all possible entities involved in the above scenario. For every entity determine at
least TWO (2) attributes and underline the primary keys. Based on the identified entities,
draw a complete Entity Relation Diagram (ERD), showing all the necessary relationships
and multiplicity constrains.
