VUSN SNAPPER INSTALLATION AND SETUP

21 June 2007

Snapper makes it really easy to make screenshots. When Snapper is

running, every time you press the 'Print Screen' button or programmed
joystick button, it will save a JPG image of the screenshot to your hard
drive. Snapper also has a Flight Simulator integration feature that will put
information on the screenshot, including your current altitude, distance from
closest airfield and lat/long coordinates.

INSTALLATION

You are reading this because you have downloaded the Snapper application zip file from the VUSN
Downloads Area. Simply unzip the Snapper application in a folder of your choice and proceed with
Setup.

SETUP

Once you have installed the Snapper program, start the program by clicking on the Snapper Icon. Select
the Settings Tab and you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Edit the fields as followed:

1) Select the monitor settings for your screen shots. If you have a multi-monitor setup you will be
able to select which monitor you would like to use for your screenshots
2) Next select the folder where you would like your screenshot to be saved
3) Enter some text that will start off the name of each of the file saved (e.g. NAVY 21)
4) Adjust the JPG quality, if desired
5) The first three checkboxes can be set to your preference; the next two must be checked for the
Flight Simulator information to appear on the screenshots.
6) In the Overlay text field enter your rank, first name, callsign name, last name and radio callsign
and/or MODEX
7) Click on OK and you are all set.

JOYSTICK PROGRAMMING

If you have a programmable joystick, follow the instruction for programming a button for use as your
screenshot button. For those of you that have joysticks that are unable to be programmed or can be
programmed but can not recognize the Print Screen key, follow the instructions below to setup a joystick
key for the print screen function.

1) Start FS9
2) Select Modules from the menu bar at the top
3) Select FSUIPC and an information box will appear.
4) Select the Buttons & Switches tab and you will see the following screen

5) Press whatever joystick button you would like to program for the Print Screen function. When you
do this you should see numbers appear in the two fields in the middle of the screen
6) Check the box next to Select for key press
7) Click on the Set button next to the Press the key(s) to be sent when you press this button
8) Press the space bar (we will set it temporarily as the space bar)
9) Click on OK at the bottom.

The next steps will be to manually edit the FSUIPC configuration file to recognize the Print Screen key.
The FSUIPC configuration file is located in your Flight Simulator 9/Modules folder as should be
FSUIPC.ini or FSUIPC.cfg.

10) Open the FSUIPC configuration file with Notepad or similar program
11) If you completed steps 1-9 above, scroll to the bottom of the file and you should find a section
called [Buttons]
12) In the last line replace the 32 with a 44. This will change the code from the space bar we
setup earlier to be the Print Screen key
13) Save the file
14) Start or restart FS9 to ensure that the new configuration settings are loaded
15) Startup at any location and in any aircraft
16) Press the joystick button you programmed and you should have taken a screenshot (verify that it
is located in the folder you specified in the setup section
