FIRST DAY: Read the notes and the references.
1. What was meaningful to you in the lecture?

2. What help did you receive from the notes?

SECOND DAY:Read John 19:31-37.


Note: Romans broke the legs of people they crucified to hasten their deaths.
3. Why did the Jewish leaders ask Pilate to break the legs of the crucified men? (See Deuteronomy 21:22-23.)

4. What is wrong with the leaders outward desire to obey Gods Law, and what warning do you receive from this?

5. For what aspect of Jesus obedience are you especially thankful today? (See also John 18:11; Philippians 2:8; or
other Bible verses.)

THIRD DAY:Read John 19:31-37.


6. How does this passage show that Jesus actually died physically, and why is this important?

7. What circumstances did God overrule to ensure Jesus death fulfilled the symbolism of the Passover Lamb?

9. Describe the men who buried Jesus. (See also Luke 23:50-52; John 3:1-21; 7:47-52; 12:42-43.)

10. a. What did these men gain and what did they lose during the period when they did not publicly identify
with Jesus?

b. What did they risk and what did they gain by coming forward to bury Jesus?

11. What fear holds back you or a loved one from following Jesus fully, and how will you ask God to intervene to help?

FIFTH DAY:Read John 19:38-42.


12. How do the details of Jesus tomb fulfill Scripture? (See Psalm 16:10; Isaiah 53:9; Matthew 27:57-60.)

13. Why do we bury the dead and how might this study of Jesus burial impact your daily life? (See also Romans 6:3-4;
Colossians 2:12-14.)

SIXTH DAY:Review John 19:31-42.
