- Let D = b2 4ac
- If D > 0, Real and Unqual
- If D = 0, Real and Equal
- If D < 0, Not Real
Sum and Product of Roots
- The sum of the roots of ax2 + bx + c = 0 (S1+S2) is,
- The product of the roots of ax2 + bx + c = 0 (S1S2) is,
- x2 - (S1+S2)x + (S1S2) = 0
Quadratic Inequalities
- one expression in one variables which can be expressed in the form ax2 + bx +
c>0
Properties
- A product is positive
- A product is Negative
Case Exploration
- Considering all the possible cases
Inspection of Science
- Transform the given inequalities in the form ax2 + bx + c > 0 and ax2
+ bx + c < 0, respectively. Then, factor them. Equate each linear
factor to find neutral numbers. These are the numbers that make
the linear factor 0.
The Parabola Method
- Identify the vertex and the x-intecepts.
Quadratic function
- A function f is a quadratic function defined by
y = a (x-h)2 + k
h = x intercept
k = y intercept
Graph = parabola
- The parabola is the curve formed from all the points (x, y) that are equidistant
from the directrix and the focus.
Quadratic to Vertex
Vertex to Quadratic
- Find the points. Plot all the other points. You draw a nicely smooth
curving line passing neatly through the plotted points:

As we end our lesson, something comes to our mind, that Math never
glued on the board it is always use in our everyday lives. Not exactly we
always solve Math equations, but the lesson behind that. The willingness to
learn and accept your flaws and whole heartedly repeat over and over
again until we get the right answer. We learned that, Math helps us literally.
