Preface

Before I embraced Islam, I realised that Muslims rarely refer to

the miracles performed by Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon
him) while trying to prove Islam.

The reason being, you can’t possibly reproduce these miracles in

front of our eyes today, so it’s redundant in trying to prove
anything using that.

Can we reproduce the scene of the splitting of the moon by

Mohammed (s.a.w.)? Can we reproduce the scene of splitting the
sea by Moses (a.s.)? Can we reproduce the scene of bringing a
dead man to life by Jesus (a.s.)?

Though, Muslims always refer to their greatest miracle when

trying to prove Allah and His messenger. That is, the Quran; the
holy scripture of Islam. Muslims describe the Quran as the
Miracle of all Miracles.

At the time, I personally couldn’t understand how could a book

be a miracle in the first place, not to mention the fact that it is
also the greatest miracle? Are these Muslims so desperate for
miracles that they would classify a book as a miracle?

Now, I have finally understood the essence of this mighty

miracle. A miracle that is preserved and can be reproduced
endlessly forever as an evidence of proof!

Introduction

Islam is an Arabic word that literally means submitting into

obeying the will of God with sincerity in order to achieve internal
peace. Quran is the sacred scripture of this religion.

We live in the age of modern science. To believe in something, it

is reasonable to ask for proofs. Why do over 1.5 billion people
and I believe in Allah (Arabic word for The God)? Why not in Zeus,
Apollo, or the flying spaghetti monster? The reason being, there
is not a thread of proof for any of these gods.

So why DO I believe in Allah? That is because there are numerous

scientific proofs with testable evidence for the divine origin of
The Quran. If Quran is an unearthly, divine work; then that
proves the very existence of its Divine Author. That is, the Author
credited by The Quran, the One and only True God Almighty
(Allah in Arabic).

For a book to be divine, it should NOT contain a single scientific

error. Quran does not teach science deliberately, but the science
mentioned in its context matches with numerous modern
discoveries. Hence, appearing as scientific miracles that couldn’t
have been mentioned by a mere human in the 7th century.

Islam is more than a religion; it’s a Way that has been in

existence since beginning of the time. Prophet Mohammed
(s.a.w.) is the last of a long series of prophets sent to us. He
brought us the last revelation of Allah, the Quran.

5/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Quran is made up of 6236 verses (In Arabic, 6236 Ayat). Ayat can
mean verse, or it can also mean EVIDENCE or SIGN, or miracle.

Out of these 6236 verses, about 1000 talk about science! That is,
about a thousand scientific evidence or signs from the Quran!

It is not the individual scientific statements that prove its

divine origin, rather the consistent compatibility with modern
science throughout the entire text that makes this text
unique. If one or two were compatible with modern science,
you can say it’s a coincidence; but can you still say this for a
1000 such signs?

Quran is not a book of science, but a book of signs.

For some people, 1 such scientific evidence or sign is enough;

some will need 10; some will need 100; some won't believe even
if you present them all the thousand evidences...

“Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the

alternation of night and day, there are indeed Signs for men of

understanding”
{Quran, Surah 3: Aal-e-Imran, Verse 190} (Yusuf Ali translation)

So! Rational people of understanding, come and experience

Quran's scientific miracles extending into Astronomy, Physics,
Hydrology, Geology, Oceanology, Botany, Zoology, Medicine,
Physiology, Embryology, Anatomy and other General Science.

Quran on Astrology and Cosmology

CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE

The big bang model is the most favoured model in modern

science relating to the creation of the universe.

While big bang is still a theory, singularity is an undisputed

scientific fact. Meaning, everything in this universe was once
together at one point.

So what does the Quran say about the creation of universe?

"Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the

earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and we made every

living thing of water? Will they not then believe?"

{Quran, Surah 21: Al-Anbiya, Verse 30} (Pickthall translation)

7/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

THE EXPANDING UNIVERSE

By the end of 19th century, the mainstream science still favoured

the steady state theory for the universe. That is, the universe is
infinite and static.

Main big names including Einstein thought differently. But it was

only until Sir Edwin Hubble's red shift discovery, the expanding
universe model was officially presented to the mainstream
science.

Today, less than a century from this discovery, the expanding

universe is already one of the most undisputed scientific facts in
the mainstream science.

But wait a minute, what if a book already told this incredible fact
14 centuries ago?

"With power did We construct the heaven. Verily, We are Able to

extend the vastness of space thereof."

{Quran, Surah 51: Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 47} (Mohsin translation)

If this is not from The God, then who could have mentioned this
about 13 centuries before modern science discovered it with
huge and hi-tech telescopes?

8/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

SUN WILL EVENTUALLY EXTINGUISH

I suppose if you didn't doze off in your astrology class in school,

you would know that our sun still have half of its lifetime left.

According to modern Cosmology, our sun is about 5 billions

years old and has about the same amount of time before it dies
off.

Who, in ancient ages, could even imagine the mighty sun dying
off?

But! How about this?

"And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him; that

is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing."

{Quran, Surah 36: Ya Seen, Verse 38} (Yusuf Ali translation)

If these are not the words of the All-Knowing God, then who
could possibly come up with this statement 14 hundred years
ago?

9/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

INITIAL GASEOUS STATE OF THE UNIVERSE

Almost all the scientists today agree that the initial state of
universe consisted of tiny particles such as electrons, quarks, etc
and tiny atoms such as hydrogen and helium before galaxies
were formed.

That is, the initial state was in a gaseous state. This only came
after the proposal of the Big Bang Model.

But what if this amazing discovery of 20th Century Cosmology

was already recorded in the Quran 14 hundred years back?

"Then He turned to the heaven when it was smoke, and said to it

and to the earth: Come both of you willingly or reluctantly. They

said: We come, obedient."

{Quran, Surah 41: Fussilat, Verse 11} (Pickthall translation)

10/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

MOONLIGHT IS REFLECTED LIGHT

Almost everyone today knows the simple fact that moonlight is

not its own light but reflected light. Though, for a human living
in the 7th Century, this fact is obscure.

But what does Quran say about this?

"Blessed is He Who made constellations in the skies, and placed

therein a Lamp and a Moon giving light"

{Quran, Surah 25: Al-Furqan, Verse 61} (Yusuf Ali translation)

Allah described sun as a Lamp, but not the moon. Moon is just
simply giving out light.

If this is not from The Almighty and The All-Knowing, then who?

11/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

SHAPE OF THE EARTH

A well-known fact to all of us is that in ancient times, most of

the people thought earth was flat.

The vast majority of the people in the world only accepted the
round shape of the earth after the first space mission in early
20th Century.

So what did Quran say about it?

"He created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): He

makes the Night overlap the Day, and the Day overlap the Night..."
{Quran, Surah 39: Az-Zumar, Verse 5} (Yusuf Ali translation)

The Arabic word used here is Kawwara, which means "to overlap"
or "to coil"; like the way a turban is wound around the head. This
overlapping or coiling can only take place if earth was round.

And in fact, today we know that earth isn't exactly round like a
ball, but geo-spherical. That is, flattened in the poles.

And let's go to the Quran again for the exact shape of the earth:

"And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse)"

{Quran, Surah 79: An-Naziat, Verse 30} (Yusuf Ali translation)
The word for "extended" here, translated as "spread" in other
translations, is dahaahaa.

12/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Dahaahaa also means egg. And moreover, it specifically refers to

an Ostrich egg; which perfectly resembles the shape of our earth.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ostrich_egg.jpg

So clearly, by choosing to use the word dahaahaa here, Allah is

telling us, He has spread or extended the earth in the shape of
an ostrich egg.

13/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

INTERSTELLAR MATTER

The space outside the organized astronomical systems was

traditionally thought to be of vacuum and emptiness. And that
was where the very name "space" came from.

Though, modern Cosmology has discovered otherwise.

Cosmologists later discovered that what was thought to be

"space" wasn't space at all!

There are presence of bridges of matter called plasma and also

consists of completely ionized gas.

Thus, this “space” is more scientifically known nowadays as The

Interstellar Matter.

So what does the Quran say about this traditionally thought

space or emptiness?

"(He) Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between

them in six periods..."

{Quran, Surah 25: Al-Furqan, Verse 59} (Shakir translation)

It is quite ridiculous for anyone to even suggest the presence of

interstellar galactic material between the heavens and the earth
about 1400 years ago!

Quran on Embryology and Anatomy

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 1, ALAQ)

Around 70s and 80s, a group of Muslim scholars collected all the
information they can find about Embryology and anatomy from
the Quran and authenticate Hadith. Then presented this
information to one of the most prominent anatomist and
embryologist in the world, Professor Keith Moore.

After reading through all the Quranic claims regarding

Embryology and Anatomy, he was shocked to see the consistency
of those claims to modern scientific discoveries.

While most of the Quranic verses agreed with Modern

Embryology; there were a few which Professor Moore wasn't able
to comment upon because Modern Science is unaware of these
few Quranic claims.

Professor Moore wasn't sure about the Quranic claim:

"Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who

created. Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood:"

{Quran, Surah 96: Al-Alaq, Verse 1-2} (Yusuf Ali translation)

These were actually the first few verses to be ever revealed to

Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him)

15/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

The claim of this verse is that mankind was made from "Alaq"

Alaq is an Arabic word, which has 3 meanings:

1) clot of congealed blood
2) something that clinches
3) leech like

Professor Moore couldn't comment whether the early stage of

embryo was a blood clot like and leech like structure that
clinches; as modern science has no record for that.

The Professor intended to check this out and studied the initial
stage of embryo under a very powerful microscope and
compared with the picture of a leech.

He was astonished by the striking resemblance of the two.

http://www.thetruecall.com/home/images/articles/embryo_1.jpg

16/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 2, HOW IT

ALL BEGAN?)

The part 1 was just an introduction and claiming that the initial
stage of embryo was a leech like structure. As this Quranic claim
was made 1400 years before modern science discovered it with
high tech microscopes, so are many other Quranic scientific
claims.

So let's start from the beginning, how was a human created?

"Now let man but think from what he is created! He is created from

a drop emitted. Proceeding from between the backbone and the

ribs"
{Quran, Surah 86: At-Tariq, Verse 5-7} (Yusuf Ali translation)

We all know that we are initially created by the fusion of sperm

and egg.

And where do sperm and egg come from?

The reproductive organs began their development near kidney,

between the spinal column and the eleventh and twelfth ribs.

The reproductive organs, which produce sperm and egg, later

descend from the ribs. But even in adulthood, they receive nerve
and blood supply from Abdominal Aorta, which is in the area of
spinal column and ribs.

17/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 3, SEX

DETERMINATION)

It is not unknown to us that in ancient times, most people

thought the sex of the baby was determined and dependent on
the mother. In some societies, mothers were even blamed for
giving birth to baby girls.

With modern development in Genetics, we have come to know

that sex determination is actually dependent on the father.

Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, and the 23rd pair is the

sex chromosome. Father has XY while mother has XX. If the X
from the father and X from the mother fuse together, a girl will
be born. But if it is the Y from the father fusing with mother’s X,
a boy will be born.

So what did Quran say? Are our sexes dependent on the sperm of
the father or the egg of the mother?

"Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)? Then did he

become a leech-like clot; then did ((Allah)) make and fashion (him) in

due proportion. And of him He made two sexes, male and female."
{Quran, Surah 75: Al-Qiyama, Verse 37-39} (Yusuf Ali
translation)

18/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Quran also states that it is only the best sperm that can get
through and fertilise the egg. This is true according to modern
science, given that it’s a race between tens of thousands of
sperms with only one winner at the end of the race.

"And made his progeny from a quintessence of the nature of a fluid

despised"
{Quran, Surah 32: As-Sajda, Verse 8} (Yusuf Ali translation)

Quintessence according to Oxford dictionary means the most

perfect.

19/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 4, FOETUS

PROTECTED BY 3 VEILS)

"He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after

creation in three veils of darkness, such is Allah your Lord."

{Quran, Surah 39: Az-Zumar, Verse 6} (Mohsin translation)

Professor Keith Moore said the three veils as mentioned in the

Quran could refer to the 3 walls around the foetus, and hence,
protecting it,

1) anterior abdominal wall of the mother

2) the uterine wall
3) the amnio-chorionic membrane

If Quran is not from Allah (The God), how could this book,
revealed 1400 years ago, state the presence of 3 veils protecting
the foetus in the womb?

20/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 5,

EMBRYOLOGICAL STAGES)

"And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay

(water and earth).

Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah

(mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged

it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman).

Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated

blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We

made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the

bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation.

So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators."

{Quran, Surah 23: Al-Mumenoon, Verse 12-14} (Mohsin
translation)

Stages of producing a human according to Quran:

1) Nutfah:

The fusing of sperm and egg to form zygote

21/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

2) Alaqah:

The coagulated blood clot like and leech like stage when lodges
in a safe lodging as described in the verses above.

As described in Surah 23, verse 13, an embryo is lodged in a safe

lodging in the womb of the mother.

http://www.thetruecall.com/home/images/articles/embryo_2.jpg

In the Quran, Allah describes that humans were created from

Alaq, over and over again.

Alaq, usually translated as a clot of coagulated blood. According

to recent discovery in Embryology, the blood in a human embryo
doesn't flow until 3rd week. And the initial stage of an embryo
has stunning resemblance to a coagulated blood clot (see image
on next page).

22/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Initial stage of a human Embryo:

http://www.thetruecall.com/home/images/articles/embryo_3.jpg

3) Mudghah:

Meaning "chewed substance", at this stage, the embryo gradually

develops in the different sub-stages described in the verse 14
above. It is described as Mudghah (chewed substance) in the
verse. From comparing the picture of an embryo in Mudghah
stage to a piece of chewed gum:

http://www.thetruecall.com/home/images/articles/embryo_4.jpg

In this stage, u can also see clearly the different sequenced sub-
stages of creation of flesh, flesh bone, bone and flesh; which
perfectly coincides with the modern Embryology.

23/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 6, EMBRYO

PARTLY FORMED, PARTLY UNFORMED)

The Mudghah stage as described above, is in fact the stage

where most of the creation takes place. Its sub-stages as
described above can be further elaborated into dozens of stages.

If an incision is made at this stage and the organs examined,

some are formed while some still not yet formed.

According to Professor Marshall Johnson, head of Department of

Anatomy in Thomas Jefferson University; if we describe the
embryo as a complete creation, then we are only describing the
formed part; if we describe the embryo as an incomplete
creation, then we are only describing the unformed parts.

So is an embryo a complete or incomplete creation? The

following Quranic verse describe it perfectly:

"We have created you (i.e. Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah

(mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge i.e. offspring of

Adam), then from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood) then

from a little lump of flesh, some formed and some unformed

(miscarriage), that We may make (it) clear to you (i.e. to show you

Our Power and Ability to do what We will)."

{Quran, Surah 22: Al-Hajj, Verse 5} (Mohsin translation)

24/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 7, SENSE OF

HEARING AND SIGHT)

According to modern Embryology, the first sense to develop in a

developing human embryo is hearing. The foetus can hear sound
after the 24th week. Subsequently, the sense of sight is
developed. The retina of a foetus becomes sensitive to light by
the 28th week.

This breakthrough discovery regarding the sequence of

development of senses were already mentioned (always in
sequence) by its Divine Author 14 centuries before our present
age.

"Then He fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him

the soul (created by Allah for that person), and He gave you

hearing, sight and hearts (feeling and understanding). Little is the

thanks you give!"

{Quran, Surah 32: As-Sajda, Verse 9} (Mohsin translation)

"Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to

try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight."

{Quran, Surah 76: Al-Insan, Verse 2} (Yusuf Ali translation)

"It is He, Who has created for you (the sense of) hearing (ears),

sight (eyes), and hearts (understanding). Little thanks you give."

{Quran, Surah 23: Al-Mumenoon, Verse 78} (Mohsin translation)

25/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 8,

PREFRONTAL AREA OF CEREBRUM RESPONSIBLE
FOR LYING)

In one of the verses from the Quran, Allah speaks about a

disbeliever who told lies against the Prophet Mohammed (peace
be upon him) in order to forbade the Prophet from praying at the
Kaaba.

“Nay! If he (Aboo Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the

forelock. A lying, sinful forelock!”

{Quran, Surah 96: Al-Alaq, Verses 15-16} (Mohsin translation)

The word used here is “naseyah”, translated either as forelock or

front of the head in all major translations.

So why did Quran describe the front of the head as lying and
sinful?

Is the front part of the brain responsible for telling lies?

26/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

If we look into the skull of a human from front, we’ll find the
prefrontal area of the cerebrum.

From: A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam

Modern Anatomy and Physiology tells us that the motivation and

the foresight to plan and initiate movements occur in the anterior
portion of the frontal lobes, the prefrontal area.

So if a person is to tell a lie, the prefrontal area of the cerebrum

is directly responsible in the motivation, plan and initiation of the
lie!

These functions of our brain were only discovered in early 20th

century. How could a book in the 7th Century claim the front of
the head responsible for the lying if it’s not from a divine source?

27/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (PART 9, PAIN

RECEPTORS IN THE SKIN)

Modern Dermatology unveils that there are pain receptors

present in the skin, without which a person would not be able to
feel pain.

When a doctor examines a patient suffering from burn injuries,

s/he verifies the degree of burns by a pinprick. If the patient
feels pain, it suggest a lower degree of burn in contrast to if a
patient not feeling any pain.

So if the pain receptors are burned and no more intact, we will

not feel anymore pain.

Quran speaks about this phenomenon will referring to the people

throw in the Hellfire.

“Surely! Those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences,

verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) We shall burn them in Fire.

As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them

for other skins that they may taste the punishment. Truly, Allah is

Ever Most Powerful, All Wise.”

{Quran, Surah 4: An-Nisa, Verses 56} (Mohsin translation)

28/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

VIEW OF SOME PROMINENT EMBRYOLOGISTS

In 1981, during the Seventh Medical Conference in Dammam,

Saudi Arabia, Professor Moore said, "It has been a great pleasure
for me to help clarify statements in the Quran about human
development. It is clear to me that these statements must have
come to Mohammed from God, because almost all of this
knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. This
proves to me that Mohammed Must have been a messenger of
God."

Then, Professor Moore was asked, "Does this mean that you
believe that the Quran is the word of God?"

Prof. Moore replied, "I find no difficulty in accepting this."

reference: "This is the Truth (videotape)"

29/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

During the same conference in 1981, Professor Marshall Johnson

said in the presentation of his research paper:

"Summary: The Quran describes not only the development of

external form, but emphasises also the internal stages, the
stages inside the embryo, of its creation and development,
emphasising major events recognised by contemporary science."

He also said: "As a scientist, I can only deal with things which I
can specifically see. I can understand embryology and
developmental biology. I can understand the words that are
translated to me from the Quran. As I gave the example before, if
I were to transpose myself into that era, knowing what I knew
today and describing things, I could not describe the things,
which were described. I see no evidence for the fact to refute the
concept that this individual, Muhammad, had to be developing
this information from some place. So I see nothing here in
conflict with the concept that divine intervention was involved in
what he was able to write*."

*(by the way, Prof. Johnson would be more surprised if he had

known that our Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) was in
fact an illiterate. He couldn't read or write! Yet, all these
numerous incredible scientific claims came out of his mouth!)

EMBRYOLOGY & ANATOMY (FINALE + 2 BONUS)

Dr Joe Leigh Simpson is the chairman of the Department of

Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Professor of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology, and Professor of Molecular and Human Genetics at
Baylor College of Medicine, USA.

Prof Simpson studied the following 2 Ahadith (sayings) of

Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).

"In every one of you, all components of your creation are collected

together in your mother's womb by forty days..."

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith #2643 and Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith
#3208)

"If forty-two nights have passed over the embryo, God sends an

angel to it, who shapes it and creates its hearing, vision, skin, flesh

and bones..."
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith #2645)

Quran gives the basis and outlines of the Divine Message. Hadith
(Ahadith as plural), which are the sayings and traditions of the
Prophet (pbuh) passes on a much more detailed explanation and
teaching from the Divine Teacher to us.

31/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Many different scholars collected Ahadith in the past. Majority of

the Muslims consider two of such collections as the most
authenticated ones: Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.

Prof. Simpson studied these 2 Ahadith extensively, noting that

the first forty days constitute a clearly distinguishable stage of
embryogenesis.

He was particularly impressed by the absolute precision and

accuracy of those sayings of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).

Then, during a conference, he gave the following opinion:

"So that the two Ahadith that have been noted provide us with a
specific time table for the main embryological development
before forty days.

Again, the point has been made, I think, repeatedly by other

speakers this morning: these Ahadith could not have been
obtained on the basis of the scientific knowledge that was
available at the time of their writing...

It follows, I think, that not only there is no conflict between

genetics and religion but, in fact, religion can guide science by
adding revelation to some of the traditional scientific
approaches, that there exist statements in the Quran shown
centuries later to be valid, which support knowledge in the Quran
having been derived from God."

ATOMS CAN BE FURTHER DIVIDED

In ancient times (at least 6 century BC), the Theory of Atomism

was widely spread, even in Arabia. That is, the smallest unit of
matter was an atom.

The very idea of intra-atomic matter wasn't around until a few

hundred years back; and the splitting of an atom is a 20th
Century development.

So what does the Quran say about the atom?

"The Unbelievers say, "Never to us will come the Hour": Say, "Nay!

but most surely, by my Lord, it will come upon you;- by Him Who

knows the unseen,- from Whom is not hidden the least little atom in

the heavens or on earth: Nor is there anything less than that, or

greater, but is in the Record Perspicuous"

Quran on Botany

PLANTS ALSO HAVE MALE AND FEMALE

Previously, human didn't know that plants too have gender.

Modern Botany states that every plant has a male and female
gender. Even the unisexual plants have distinct elements of both
male and female.

This discovery of modern Botany could seem ridiculous at the

time of our Prophet (s.a.w.).

Yet, Quran clearly states:

"... and has sent down water from the sky." With it have We

produced diverse pairs of plants each separate from the others."

Quran on Medicine

HONEY AND ITS HEALING EFFECTS FOR US

Though to the population at large, the enormous benefits of

honey might still be relatively unknown; but it’s not a secret
amongst the medical world.

Honey is a juice assimilated by bees from various kinds of

flowers and fruits. It is formed in the body of bees and then
stored in their cell of wax. It was only a couple of centuries back
that mankind came to know that honey came from the belly of
bee.

So what does Quran say about honey?

“…There comes forth from their bellies, a drink of varying colour

wherein is healing for men. Verily, in this is indeed a sign for people

who think.”
{Quran, Surah 16: An-Nahl, Verse 69} (Mohsin translation)

35/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

We only recently came to know that honey has healing properties

and is also a mild antiseptic.

Some studies suggest that the topical use of honey may reduce
odours, swelling, and scarring when used to treat wounds; it may
also prevent the dressing from sticking to the healing wound.

Honey has also been used as a treatment for sore throats and
coughs for centuries and according to recent research may in
fact be more effective than most common medicines.

The Soviets used honey to cover their wound in World War II. The
wound would retain moisture and would leave very little scar
tissue. The density of honey also prevents fungus or bacteria to
grow in the wound.

A person, suffering allergy to a particular plant can be given

honey made from that plant in order to develop resistance to the
allergy. Honey is also rich in fructose and vitamin K.

Antioxidants in honey have even been implicated in reducing the

damage done to the colon in colitis.

How could the knowledge of its healing powers mentioned in the

Quran centuries before modern medicine discovered it? As the
Quranic verse above says, “this is indeed a sign for people who

think.”

DATES AND ITS MEDICAL BENEFITS FOR US

“And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree:

She cried (in her anguish): "Ah! would that I had died before this!

would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!"

But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-tree): "Grieve

not! for thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee;

"And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let

fall fresh ripe dates upon thee.

"So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye…””

{Quran, Surah 19: Maryam, Verses 23-26} (Yusuf Ali translation)

The above verses speak about Maryam (Mary), right before giving
birth to Prophet Iesa (Jesus) (peace be upon him).

Allah told Maryam to eat fresh ripe dates when she was crying
out loud for the pains of childbirth. Is there any significance to
this?

Modern Medical findings tell us that dates benefit women who

are almost ready to give birth. Dates contain easily digested and
absorbed sugars that could help revitalising a weakened body.
Also having a triggering effect on milk hormones.

37/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

In addition to the benefits to a pregnant women, dates itself

contains at least 10 substances considered essential human
body’s well-being and continuing health.

Apart from high contents of carbohydrates, dates also consists of

calcium, high contents of vitamin B & D and high contents of iron
and phosphorus, etc.

Dates also have direct medical benefits such as:

Acting as detersive and astringent in intestinal disorders;

Stopping the haemorrhage during pregnancy as they contain

vitamin K and Tannin that acts as a contracting agent;

Help in preventing the growth and spread of cancer cells as they

contain magnesium and calcium;

Active against Allergy as they contain Zinc;

Help in the treatment of Anaemia thanks to their iron content;

The flour of dried dates and their kernels help in treating asthma
and airways constriction; ETC!!!

Quran on Oceanography

BARRIER BETWEEN TWO MEETING SEAS

Modern Oceanography tells us that there is somehow an unseen

or non-physical barrier in places where two seas meet. This
barrier divides the two seas so that each sea has it’s own
temperature, salinity and density.

Examples of this phenomenon: where the Mediterranean and the

Atlantic Ocean meet at Gibraltar; or where the Atlantic Ocean
meets the Indian Ocean at Cape Point.

From: A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam

39/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

So what does the Quran say about this modern Oceanography

discovery?

“He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet

together: Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. Which

then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?”

{Quran, Surah 55: Al-Rahman, Verses 19-21} (Shakir translation)

“Or, Who made the earth a resting place, and made in it rivers, and

raised on it mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier. Is

there a god with Allah? Nay! most of them do not know!”

{Quran, Surah 27: An-Naml, Verse 61} (Shakir translation)

PARTITION BETWEEN SWEET AND SALT WATER

“It is He Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water: One

palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter; yet has He made

a barrier between them, a partition that is forbidden to be passed.”

{Quran, Surah 25: Al-Furqan, Verse 53} (Yusuf Ali translation)

But why the emphasis on a non-trespassing barrier between

fresh and salt water in contrast to two seas?

Modern Oceanography unveils a situation in estuaries, where

fresh and salt water meet, somewhat different in contrast to
places where two seas meet.

What separates the fresh water and salt water in estuaries is a

pycnocline zone with a marked density discontinuity separating
the two layers. This partition zone has salinity different from
both fresh and salt water. Complete annihilating any chances of
the fresh and salt water from mixing.

From: A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam

The place in Egypt where river Nile flows into the Mediterranean
Sea is an example of this phenomenon.

DARKNESS IN DEPTHS OF OCEAN

Humans are unable to dive unaided underwater for more than 30

to 40 metres. At about 200 metres, the pressure makes it almost
impossible for unequipped human divers to survive.

At depth greater than 200 metres, even the violet and indigo
light of the visible spectrum are not able to reflect. Hence, after
over 200 metres, it’s almost impossible to see anything through
naked human eyes in the depth of vast ocean. After 1000 metres,
complete darkness would be achieved.

Modern marine equipments only confirm this recently, but what

has the Quran mentioned about the depth of the ocean over a
thousand years ago?

“Or (the state of a disbeliever) is like the darkness in a vast deep

sea,…… darkness, one above another, if a man stretches out his

hand, he can hardly see it!......”

{Quran, Surah 24: An-Noor, Verse 40} (Mohsin translation)

NB: I’ve omitted the middle part of this verse as I’m going to use
it for my next point.

42/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

INTERNAL WAVES

Ok, so let’s quote the complete verse that I’ve been saving from
last point.

“Or like utter darkness in the deep sea: there covers it a wave

above which is another wave, above which is a cloud, (layers of)

utter darkness one above another; when he holds out his hand, he is

almost unable to see it; and to whomsoever Allah does not give light,

he has no light.”
{Quran, Surah 24: An-Noor, Verse 40} (Shakir translation)

If we study the verse above carefully, we can see that there are 2
waves. The second wave is clearly the surface wave as above it, is
the cloud.

So what about the first wave? Is there really another wave below
the surface wave?

As per the modern Marine Studies and Oceanography, these

waves below the surface waves mentioned in the Quran clearly
refer to the internal waves (image on next page).

43/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

From: A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam

These internal waves cover the deep waters of seas and oceans
because of the deep waters have a higher density than the waters
above them.

This phenomenon of internal waves is a modern discovery since

human eyes cannot see them, but rather detected by studying
the temperature or salinity changes at a given location.

Quran on Geology

MOUNTAINS ARE LIKE TENT PEGS

Modern Geology unveils a phenomenon called “folding”. This is

linked to the underlying roots of the mountains, which are deeply
embedded in the ground and giving rise to a shape resembling
tent pegs (image on next page).

Quran confirms the true underlying shape of mountains:

“Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, And the mountains

as pegs?”
{Quran, Surah 78: An-Naba, Verses 6-7} (Yusuf Ali translation)

If this is not a true revelation from God, how could anyone 14

centuries ago know the underlying shape of the solid massive
mountains?

Additionally, modern theory of plate tectonics holds that

mountains work as stabilizers for the earth, similar analogy as
that of tent pegs. Quran confirms this modern development in
Geology even further:

“And We have placed on the earth firm mountains, lest it should

shake with them,”

{Quran, Surah 21: Al-Anbiya, Verse 31} (Mohsin translation)

MOUNTAINS FIRMLY FIXED

Earth’s surface contains many rigid plates, which float of partially

molten regions called aesthenosphere. Mountain formations
occur at the boundary of the plates.

The earth’s crust is 5 km thick below oceans, about 35 km thick

below flat continental surfaces; but an amazingly 80 km thick
below great mountain ranges. These are strong foundations on
which mountains stand.

Quran confirms the strong foundations of the mountains:

“And the mountains He has fixed firmly;”

Quran on Hydrology

WATER CYCLE

Many philosophers have tried to describe the nature of water and

rains; but all were not comprehensive or accurate enough. It was
not till 1580, Bernard Palissy presented the present day concept
of water cycle.

He described how water evaporates from the oceans and cools to

form clouds. The clouds move inland where they rise, condense
and fall as rain. This water gathers as lakes and streams and
flows back to the ocean in a continuous cycle.

Now let’s follow through the description of water cycle in the

Quran and let’s judge whether Quran gives an accurate
description, keeping in mind it was revealed almost 900 years
before Palissy.

Precipitation and Infiltration:

“See you not, that Allah sends down water (rain) from the sky, and

causes it to penetrate the earth, (and then makes it to spring up) as

water-springs and afterward thereby produces crops of different

colours,”
{Quran, Surah 39: Az-Zumar, Verse 21} (Mohsin translation)

47/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

“and He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and therewith

revives the earth after its death. Verily, in that are indeed signs

for a people who understand.”

{Quran, Surah 30: Ar-Room, Verse 24} (Mohsin translation)

“And We sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure, and

We gave it lodging in the earth, and verily, We are Able to take it

away.”
{Quran, Surah 23: Al-Mumenoon, Verse 18} (Mohsin translation)

Evaporation:
“By the heaven which giveth the returning rain,”
{Quran, Surah 86: At-Tariq, Verse 11} (Pickthall translation)

Condensation:
“And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with

water), then caused the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and

We gave it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of

its stores (i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from

whom you like).”

{Quran, Surah 15: Al-Hijr, Verse 22} (Mohsin translation)

“And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going

before His Mercy (rain). Till when they have carried a heavyladen

cloud, We drive it to a land that is dead, then We cause water (rain)

to descend thereon.”

Quran on Zoology

ANIMALS AND BIRDS LIVE IN COMMUNITIES

Modern Zoological researches have unveiled that terrestrials and

birds live in communities like us. That is, they organize, live and
work together.

“There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that

flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. We have

neglected nothing in the Book, then unto their Lord they (all) shall

be gathered.”
{Quran, Surah 6: Al-Anaam, Verse 38} (Mohsin translation)

THE BEE AND ITS SKILL

“And your Lord revealed to the bee saying: Make hives in the

mountains and in the trees and in what they build: Then eat of all

the fruits and walk in the ways of your Lord submissively”

{Quran, Surah 16: An-Nahl, Verses 68-69} (Shakir translation)

The gender used for bee in the above verses is the female gender
(fa’sluki and kuli), indicating that the bee that leaves its home for
gathering food is a female bee. Which confirms with modern
zoological discovery of the female worker bees.

49/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Shakeseare’s play, “Henry the Fourth”, speaks about bees having

soldiers and reporting back to a king bee. This was the thought
of vast majority of people at the time; which took modern
zoology over 300 years to rectify that it is actually a queen bee.

Something the Quran has revealed over 1400 years ago.

SPIDER’S WEB, THE FRAGILE HOME

“The likeness of those who take Auliya (protectors and helpers)

other than Allah is as the likeness of a spider, who builds (for

itself) a house, but verily, the frailest (weakest) of houses is the

spider’s house; if they but knew.”

{Quran, Surah 29: Al-Ankaboot, Verse 41} (Mohsin translation)

Besides giving the physical description of spider’s web as being

fragile, the Quran also stress one the flimsiness of the
relationship in the spider’s house; where the female spider many
a times kills its mate, the male spider.

This is a parable in reference to the weakness of such

relationship of the people who seek protection for this world and
for the hereafter from those other than Allah.

LIFESTYLE AND COMMUNICATION OF ANTS

“Till, when they came to the valley of the ants, one of the ants said:

"O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Sulaiman (Solomon) and his hosts

crush you, while they perceive not."”

{Quran, Surah 27: An-Naml, Verse 18} (Mohsin translation)

In the past, some would have probably mocked at the Quran to

be a book of fairy tales, in which ants have intellect and could
talk and communicate to each other.

In recent times however, modern Myrmecology has shown us

several facts about the lifestyle of ants, which were not known to
our forefathers. Research has shown that amongst all the
animals, whose lifestyle is in closest resemblance to that of
humans are the ants.

Following are a few modern findings about ants:

a) The ants bury their dead in a manner similar to the

humans.
b) They have a sophisticated system of division of labour,
whereby they have managers, supervisors, foremen,
workers, etc.
c) Once in a while they meet among themselves to have a
“chat”.
d) They have advanced method of communication among
themselves.
e) They hold regular “markets” where they exchange goods.

Quran on Meteorology

FORMATION AND SHAPE OF CUMULONIMBUS

CLOUDS

One kind of rain cloud is the cumulonimbus cloud. They start

formation when winds pushes some small pieces of clouds
(cumulus clouds) to an area where these clouds converge. Then
the small clouds join together to form a larger cloud.

Then small clouds join together, where updrafts within the larger
cloud increases. The updrafts near the center are stronger than
those near the edges. These updrafts cause the cloud body to
grow vertically, so the cloud is stacked up.

From: A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam

As the clouds are stretched up into the cooler regions of the

atmosphere, drops of water and hail form. When these drops of
water and hail are too heavy for the updrafts to support them,
they begin to fall from cloud as rain, hail, etc.

From: A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam

Now we know what modern science speaks about formation of

clouds, let’s look at how the Quran portraits this phenomenon.

“See you not that Allah drives the clouds gently, then joins them

together, then makes them into a heap of layers, and you see the

rain comes forth from between them.…”

{Quran, Surah 24: An-Noor, Verse 43} (Mohsin translation)

HAIL CONTRIBUTING IN PRODUCING

LIGHTNING

The above verse is not complete; the rest of the verse has
another couple of significant miraculous scientific statements
from this thousands years old book.

“…And He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains, (or there

are in the heaven mountains of hail from where He sends down hail),

and strike therewith whom He will, and averts it from whom He

wills. The vivid flash of its (clouds) lightning nearly blinds the sight.

(Tafsir At-Tabaree).”
{Quran, Surah 24: An-Noor, Verse 43} (Mohsin translation)

Meteorologists have found that these cumulonimbus clouds that

shower hail reach a height of 25,000 to 20,000 ft. Hence as
Quran describes it as like mountains.

As you can see from the

above verse, lightning is in
reference to hail from the
clouds. Modern Meteorology
unveils that a cloud is
electrified as hail falls
through a region in the cloud
of supercooled droplets and

ice crystals.

PLAGIARISM???

Many people might question whether some of the points in the

Quran were copied from elsewhere.

For example, scientific claims such as "everything living thing

came from water" or "earth is spherical" were all claimed by
ancient Greek philosophers many hundreds or thousands of
years before the Quran.

So could Mohammed (s.a.w.) actually have copied those points

from ancient philosophers?

Well, the fact is clear, Quran has no scientific inaccuracies.

While the Greek philosophy were filled with scientific

contradictions. The few that match modern science weren't
widely accepted.

So, if for the sake of argument, we agree that Mohammed (s.a.w.)

did copy those points off the Greeks; How could he know which
points to pick?

Did he have a checklist, and started picking out all the right
points and left out all the wrong ones?

55/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

How could he have known which one was right and which one
was wrong; when most of the points were only discovered by
modern science recently with hi-tech equipments.

So the idea of our beloved Prophet Mohammed (s.a.w.)

plagiarizing from the Greeks is ridiculous.

For if he had plagiarized, then the mere fact that he got it all of
them right by mere chance is another unbelievable miracle in
itself!

So all the scientific miracles from the Quran, is without a doubt,

from ALLAH (subhana wa ta'ala)

Conclusion

If by now, you are convinced that Quran is indeed the true

revelation from the Almighty God (Allah in Arabic) and you are
willing to submit to Allah; then you just have to recite the
following testimony (Shahadah in Arabic).

This is just to be recited from your heart and lips. No third

person is needed to be your witness and no ritual ceremony is
required in order to become a Muslim. It is a contract between
and only between you and Allah.

ašhadu ʾan lā ilāha illā-llāh, wa ʾašhadu ʾanna muḥammadan rasūlu-llāh

"I testify that there is no god worthy of worship but God

(Allah), and I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of
God."

However, seven critical criteria of the heart are also to be

observed while performing the testimony.

Al-Ilm: Knowledge of the meaning of shahadah

Al-Yaqeen: Certainty
Al-Ikhlaas: Sincerity
Al-Sidq: Truthfulness
Al-Mahabbah: Love and being happy to the meaning of shahadah
Al-Inqiad: Submission to the worship of Allah
Al-Qubool: Acceptance

Many non Muslims, who are inclining towards Islam say that they
would like to learn more of this religion and be ready and
prepared enough before declaring and coming out as a Muslim.
But when is “enough”?

Brothers and sisters, there is nothing to prepare apart from your

heart. When you incline towards to Allah, Allah has also inclined
towards you. Accept Islam today, right now, and may Allah be
your Guide and Teacher.

In one of the 40 Hadith Qudsi (which contains the direct words of

Allah), The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said that Allah (s.w.t) said,

“I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes

mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make
mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an
assembly, I make mention of him in an assemble better than it.
And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a
fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at
speed.”
Hadith Qudsi #15

58/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

As mentioned in the introduction, Quran is a book of evidence,

signs and miracles.

I believe if you are a rational thinker, the scientific signs of Quran

included in this article are more than enough to prove the
Quran’s Divine Origin.

“We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and in their

ownselves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Quran)

is the truth. Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a

Witness over all things?”

{Quran, Surah 41: Fussilat, Verse 53} (Mohsin translation)

If you are still in doubt, then Quran has a challenge for you.

“And if you are in doubt as to that which We have revealed to Our

servant, then produce a chapter like it and call on your witnesses

besides Allah if you are truthful. But if you do (it) not and never

shall you do (it), then be on your guard against the fire of which

men and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers.”
{Quran, Surah 2: Al-Baqara, 23-24} (Shakir translation)

59/61
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

For those of you who are afraid of accepting that you were wrong
and afraid to face the truth then you are not being rational. And
Quran severely condemns and describes such a closed mentality
as:

“They are deaf, dumb, and blind, so they return not (to the Right

Path).”
{Quran, Surah 2: Al-Baqara, Verse 18} (Mohsin translation)

So fear not the earthly gains or loses, rather, fear Allah!

I pray for whoever read this, the guidance of Allah to widen their
understanding so as to rationally accept the Divine Signs of the
Quran! Ameen.
