NOTES ABOUT THIS BOOKLET
The information provided in this booklet is to assist exporters complete relevant export documentation, and is listed by
species showing the HAM number, the Cut/Item name and the Common Code Cipher where allocated. Some cut
names have been abbreviated due to space limitations and exporters and processors should be aware that these
abbreviations MUST NOT be used in the Trade Description on cartoned or bagged product*.
Trade Description information and correct product descriptions are shown in the Australian Meat Industry
Information - Manual 1.
Meat & Livestock Australia Ltd is a producer owned company established to represent, promote, protect and further
the interests of beef, sheepmeat and goatmeat producers in both the marketing of meat and livestock and the
development of industry based research and development activities. The overriding objective of the company is to add
wealth to Australias meat and livestock industries.
Programs activities are targeted at delivering improvements throughout the production and marketing chain from
raising standards in farm management to lifting the demand for Australian beef, lamb, mutton and goatmeat in export
markets. In addition, the company provides industry services to other sectors, such as meat processors and live
animal exporters.
The Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) is the Peak Council that represents retailers, processors, exporters and
smallgoods manufacturers in the post-farm-gate meat industry.

EXDOC has been designed to electronically process notices of intention to export (EX28s and EX222s) and where
required provide certification for meat, dairy, grain, horticulture, fish, skins and hides, wool and inedible meat
products

The EXDOC help desk provides support to all clients using the EXDOC system for the creation and processing of
Requests For Permits (RFP's).
In-office support is available between the hours of 7.30am and 6.00pm (Eastern Standard Time) with an on call
officer providing support outside these hours for urgent airfreights and emergencies only.

MEAT TYPE (RFP)
The meat type as described on the EX 28 RFP shall be identified on the return by the insertion in the Meat Type
column of the corresponding AUS-MEAT cipher which correctly matches the description of the meat.

For RFP, a full description which shall be in the order specified on the form ie; bone-in or boneless, meat type, cut or
carcase.
The item number for the carcase, primal cut or bulk manufacturing pack specified in the Handbook of Australian
Meat or the AUS-MEAT Register of Cuts & Items or the AUS-MEAT Limited RFP Cut Code Reference Meat
Item Specification list, plus the appropriate suffix code where the primal cut is further processed. For individual
specifications which vary slightly from the normal specification, the H.A.M number and suffix code shown in this
booklet shall be shown most accurately describes the primal cut from which the cut is derived. Licensees in doubt as
to the appropriate Handbook number should contact the AUS-MEAT area manager in their region or AUS-MEAT
Limited Brisbane.

SUFFIX CODE
In order to identify items which have been prepared further than the primal cut or bulk manufacturing pack stage for
which no cut code number is shown in this booklet, the following suffix codes are to be shown after the Handbook
number of the item from which the prepared meat is derived (specific EU Quota codes also shown):
Y DICED MEAT
When a specific primal boneless cut is diced and this is identified in the trade description the
letter Y is to follow the HAM item number. e.g.
