EAIM units Electrostatic Air Intake Modification

Patent Pending -

Smart Air: Introduction

Air is the key component in combustion. Using the motion of air

into the intake manifold, the Air unit works to induce an
electrostatic field. This changes the physical properties of air
by separation of the air molecules, and providing greater
surface area to react with fuel during combustion.

The static clinging effect on air molecules in motion is the

problem. The solution is that this unit neutralizes as it passes
through the passively induced electrostatic field the unit
creates. The unit utilizes positive and negative charges to
neutralize the charges on molecules of the passing air.

This effect employed by the air unit is important because it

allows for more complete combustion of fuel. When the crankcase
unit is installed it results in more effective reburning of
carbon vapor cycling from the Positive Crankase Ventilation
(PCV) valve.

Eliminating these carbon vapors that turn the oil black and,
more importantly cause constant damage in the engine cylindars
by scoring the walls like fine sand paper. This damage means
loss of compression. Also the damage continues through the
exhaust system by carbon depsotis clogging the catalytic
converter, to the point where it needs replacement.

With less carbon particulate matter that deposits on the

tungsten burners in the catalytic converter. Assuming the
vehicle is still breathing the clogging effects on the
catalytic converter reverses and begins to clean itself from the
deposits that usually begin to insulate it from heating up and
effectively reburning residual fuel in the exhaust as it is
designed to do.

Reducing carbon vapors, extends engine life.

The friction and scoring in cylindars CAUSED BY CARBON oil

vapor, both sourced from unburned fuel (40% of fuel is unburned)
and the recycling vapors off the crankcase from the PCV.

This is important to understand. The catalytic converter, a most

expensive part to replace due to the cost of the tungsten, is
not supposed to wear out, but does so by deposits formong over
time to the point wher it no longer passes emmission standards
or is occluded to the point that it shuts down the engine
completely: a no go situation. The units used over time remove
this a s maintenance concern, as the converter will last
indefinitely. Concern over passing emissions testing becomes a
thing of the past since most levels of emissions are improved
far below government mandated standards. ( barring a NO
emmission standard which is unlikely in the near future, we
project )

Across the board results are:

1) lower fuel consumption - 15-25% on the average.

2) Cleaner engine oil

3) Reduced emissions

$) More power

The method of generation of passive electrostatic field by the

units employs no magnets or electric components, only the
machanics of air and physics involved. The field reaches
operational level within a minute or two after starting and
remains at optimum level regardless of speed RPM, throttling or
humidity.

Field tests presented here are longitudinal, conducted around

the years 2010 to 2012. All units are still working properly
after 3-5 years in service after the date of testing,

There is essentially no wear of metals used in the unit. It

functions as a true catalyst. The electrstatic field
maintains the integrity of the metal used in the device.

Greater surface area available for the combustion reaction

causes more complete detonation, generating more pressure,
or force per combustion:more power.

2
EAIM units Electrostatic Air Intake Modification
Patent Pending -

Force wave radiation during ignition improves and less

power loss occurs from heat. Engines run cooler

Less heat also means less deterioration of the strength of

materials used in the engine.

Less vibration from force variance between cylinder firings

occurs because of the consisitancy of combustion.

Less requirement for periodic overhauling and replacing of

parts. .

A normal life of a diesel engine after the units are

installed is often doubled.

Installing the units results in cleaner oil. Lubricants

retain their optimum level of protection, enhanced by the
engine running at consistent temperature ranges from better
combustion. Less burning of parts, seals remain intact, and
compression leakage is reduced.

Oil vapor carbon, fuel and re-burned fuel burn at 2x

efficiency from previous levels.

The computer chip controlling mixture ratios in newer vehicles

is designed to maintain rpm needed to avoid stalling. At
higher rpms the chip maintains that same gas to fuel ratio. If
redesigned to parameters that allow for leaner mixture, theses
modification units will provide the same power with leaner
mixtures. The additional gas only serves to pollute in excess
of what is needed. The levels that are EPA acceptable can be
exceeded by this technology.

The effective life of the engine would be increased

Less maintenance would be required.

Original torque seating would remain closer to original

specs with less engine vibration.

Field Test Results

CASE 1

Application : DIESEL POWERED WOOD CHIPPER

Purpose : Mechanical pulverization of wood, used in construction

excavation for rock breaking.

Maintenance cost : One engine overhaul is normal, costing

$60,000+ required during expected engine life.

Engine : Caterpillar 12 cylinder - 900 horsepower.

Use : Large tub grinder, shreds wood debris for export

Problem : The RPM of the engine fluctuates from increased work

load: as larger sized debris is grinded

This causes excessive engine smoke

The operator bursts the throttle to maintain RPM. Under normal

conditions, this happens on a thirty second cycle in use.

Engine fuel consumption rate between 27 and 37 gallons per hour.

Two fuel transport tanks mounted on service truck are required

each day. These heavy transport tanks put the service truck to
near overload weight level

Procedure : Units were installed on engine to stabilize the

air prior to intake.

Observations:

5
EAIM units Electrostatic Air Intake Modification

Operator noticed the engine producing more power

immediately

No reduction in RPM from load fluctuation when processing

large debris

Engine running smoother and quieter.

The observable smoke emissions reduced 50%

Operator estimated 20% less fuel consumed during peak use

with typical load size fluctuation cycle : greater power
available using less fuel.

Owner Operator was able to remove one of the 2 fuel

transport tanks used daily points to 50% reduction of
normal fuel use daily

Estimated savings of 40 gallons to 80 gallons of fuel per

day based on 1 week data.

This cost at $2.30 USD / diesel gal translates roughly to

$60 to $100 per day less fuel expense

$360 to $600 a week less fuel expense.

Engine starts faster in cold conditions because of

increased viscosity. Cleaner oil provide less drag and
guming.

Application : Municipal Garbage Trucks

4 Fords

Initially the field test was for 3 trucks

2 2006 models with the 6.0 liter turbo diesel

1 2009 model using Ford 6.4 liter twin turbo diesel engine.

7

After installing the modification system,

Operators noted an increase in power and a reduction in engine

noise.

2006 models averaged 15% reduction in fuel consumption due to

computer fuel air mixture.

2009 using approximately 8% less fuel.

In stop and go use this is a significant immediate improvement,

because over time the units improve the fuel efficiency by
cleaning existing deposites from the engine,

Regeneration exhaust converter adds fuel into the exhaust in

these models, to burn collected contaminants. This is done every
other day to clean the exhaust system. This fuel consumption
figure skewed the field test results. The vehicle smokes for
several minutes during the regeneration cycle. After installing
the units, the regeneration cycle of the exhaust no longer emits
clouds of smoke.

Regeneration cycle is a procedure that would likely become

unnecessary by using the units. It seems ironic: unburned fuel
causes a need to clean the exhaust system. That consumes more
fuel in the field test result for a device that eliminates the
need to clean the exhaust.

Since the first three trucks tested well, its assumed that it
was considered success by the municipality, since they purchased
an additional complete set of 3 units: air crankcase and fuel
cell units to install on the newest truck in the fleet at the
time:2012 Ford diesel.

The operator immediately recorded a greater than 10% reduction

in fuel consumption.

Also he observed a performance increase i.e. more power.

Application: Mower Tractor

Problem : Turbo charged diesel engine consumes a full tank of

fuel every two days, 37 gallons in service.

Uses approximately 3 quarts of oil per week

The tractor smokes a lot.

Procedure: Only the crankcase unit was installed

This immediately improved the engines fuel consumption by 10%.

That fuel consumption rate was tracked for several months.

Then the air modification unit was installed,

The tractor used 25% less fuel.

The operator now mows for three full days on 1 tank of fuel, and
a return trip to the shop for refueling.

Application : Machine Shop

To offer a valid unbiased opinion on the functional

characteristics of the technology, the owner of A MACHINE shop,
WITH significant experience in evaluating any engines operating
characteristics, having over 30 years of experience in doing so,
was introduced to the technology

After only a brief test drive of his own diesel vehicle, he was
immediately impressed. He was able to quickly identify nearly
every change to the engines operational differences : throttle
sensitivity, acceleration characteristics, torque,smoke
reduction, vibration, noise reduction, turbo boost, starting
characteristics, operating temperature reduction, and engine
braking characteristics, were noticed to benefit from the
installed units.

Application : Tub Grinder

Problem : A 30 year old tub grinder with a 12 cylinder Cat

engine had two separate turbochargers, air intake systems and
crankcase vents. It was well worn from many years of commercial
grinding operations.

It badly needed an overhaul.

It ran hot, smoked and vibrated

Open crankcase vents emitted oil laden smoke and contaminated

the air filters which required changing often.

Fuel consumption was not calculated because of load differences

and erratic fueling procedures.

24
EAIM units Electrostatic Air Intake Modification
Patent Pending -

The operator tried preserving the life of the engine by trying

not to overwork it. Tight job schedules and tough loading
conditions make this difficult, however.

Procedure : 2 air and crankcase vent units were installed and 1

fuel cell.

After the install the machine was put into service for several
months in remote location. Upon returning to civilization with
several hundred accumulated hours of running time, the operator
had these comments:

1. The engine became more responsive to load changes,

especially when worked hard.
2. Normally, he had to monitor the engines temperature
grinding finer material because the cutting teeth are all
participating, as opposed to chunks of debris which are not
evenly distributed.
3. This type of load now seemed effortless with the engines
increased torque.
4. Coolant and exhaust temperatures remained normal regardless
of load.

The performance improvements greatly impressed the operator

because it allowed him to focus on the work rather than
temperature gauges. The engine ran much smoother and quieter.

The oil remained a golden color for considerably longer

after an oil change.
It smoked a lot less, even when the engine was cold.
The air filters remained clean of oily residue because of
the fully enclosed crankcase emissions.
He commented on the relief of breathing fresh air when the
toxic crankcase blow-by emissions are no longer vented into
the atmosphere and the operators lungs.

These toxic emissions are converted into improved engines

performance, reduced maintenance requirements and extended

Asked to improve the performance and reliability of a new

excavator with latest emission control equipment and only 150
hours of use.

It had significant operating problems because of EGR recycling,

retarded timing and strict computer control of engine
operations.

A team of engineers flew over from Japan to improve the engines

function but were unsuccessful

Company was forced to accept its operating limitations.

This new equiptment still had crankcase emissions gases vented

to atmosphere because they contaminated the EGR system

disrupting performance and engine longevity.

The oil would quickly become black with carbon sludge as a

result.

The units were then installed

Greater power, better starting, smoke reduction and reduced

fuel consumption.
Maintenance of the engine easier because of the reduced
carbon contamination and reduced stress on the engine.
All operators noted the improved air quality in the cab .
Enclosing the crankcase system with added condensing
canister to ensure no condensed liquid emissions would be
recycled.
Engine now ran excellent.
Oil stays clean after 250 hours of use,
it seemed unnecessary to change.

Engine performance is improved,

Temperatures were stabilized
Operator isnt breathing in toxic oil vapors.

This machine has been working in the commercial construction

industry without any issues since the installation of the
technology.
