Father God,
Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. Bless my church, Pastor Ron and his
family. Bless my teachers for teaching me Your Word. I believe your love is flowing
through me to other people. Help me to obey my parents so things will go well with
me and I will live a long life on the earth. I will tell how great You are and how much I
love You. I thank You that by Jesus stripes I am healed in my body and my soul.

No amount of sacrifice can take the place of obedience.
I Samuel 15:22, To obey is better than sacrifice.
Saul was chosen by God to be king because of his humble spirit. Even though
people told him he was great, Saul knew he needed Gods leading so he listened
and obeyed God. After a while though Saul was no longer willing to do things
Gods way. Doing things Gods way did not always please Sauls friends and
when that happened Saul had to choose between doing what made the people
happy or doing what pleased God. Too many times Saul chose to please the
people instead of obeying God. There are times when leaders can please both
God and man with their decisions, but there will be times when leaders have to
make that hard choice that others dont like or agree with. Saul was not willing
to submit to Gods will when it meant that he would be rejected by men.
God sent the prophet Samuel to warn Saul about his prideful and rebellious
attitude, but Saul continued to do things his way instead of obeying God. He
thought he would get away with the disobedience as long as he offered a
sacrifice.
This is like some Christians who think they will get away with sin as long as
they come to church and give in the offering. Sauls wrong attitude was enough
for God to reject him and his sons as the royal house of Israel. Whenever we
care more about what people will think of us than doing things Gods way we
are giving our love to people instead of to God. Like Saul, when we lose
respect for the things of God we lose His blessings. God wants our obedience
more than our sacrifices.
