# Final exam for Praktikum Komputasi 2017 Code: TRM Type D

Open a blank Excel workbook and save it as a MACRO-ENABLED file using the naming
convention No NPM_Nama_UAS Prakom Kode TRM_ Tipe D.xlsm Your workbook
must contain only five worksheets named "Prob1", "Prob2", Prob3, Prob4 and Prob5
respectively. Total point required: 100 pts.

## Question 1 (30 pts)

Develop an Excel simulation to address the following situation: A friend suggests a new dice
game to you. He gives you 3 dice and has 2 himself. He rolls one of his two dice; you see its
value (1-6). Based on that value, he will let you choose between rolling 1, 2, or all 3 of your
dice. After you make your choice, he will roll his second die. The rules are:
a) If you chose to roll 2 dice, then the sum of your two dice must exactly match the sum of his
two dice, in which case you get 2 points (otherwise 0 pts).
b) If you chose to roll 1 die, then your roll must exceed the sum of his two dice, in which case
you get 1 point (otherwise 0 pts).
c) If you chose to roll 3 dice, then the sum of your three dice must be below the sum of his two
dice, in which case you get 1 point (otherwise 0 pts). Given these rules, when should you
choose to roll 1, 2, or 3 dice?
For each of the six possible scenarios, i.e., your friend first rolling a 1,2,3,..6, you can use
a 2-way Data Table to simulate your three possible strategies (a,b,c). Because each
simulation requires an Excel Data Table, that means running these six simulations will entail
creating six nearly identical Data Tables. Each simulation (Data Table) should cover at least
1000 trials.

## Question 2 (40 pts)

Prepare an Excel worksheet, model and solve the following problem using Excels Solver or
OpenSolver. Blairs mother is saving for Blairs college education. The following payments
must be made at the indicated times:

## The following investments are available:

Today, one year from now, two years from now, three years from now, and four years
from now, she can invest money for one year and receive a 6 percent return.
Today, two years from now, and four years from now, she can invest money for two
years and receive a 14 percent return.
Three years from now, she can invest money for three years and receive an 18 percent
return.
Today, she can invest money for seven years and receive a 65 percent return.

What is the minimum amount that Blairs mother needs to commit today to Blairs college
education that ensures that she can pay her college bills?

Question 3 (30 pts)
1) Write a sub procedure named Calculate_TPM_Values that calculates availability,
performance, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) based on the total
productive maintenance (TPM) method. TPM is a method to increase the effectiveness of
production environments, especially through methods for increasing the effectiveness of
equipment. The following formulas should be used to calculate the required outputs1:

Actual Operating Time: Number of hours in which plant was actually operating.

Planed Production Time: Plant operating hours plant shutdown time (in hours).

## Total Output: Total quantity of units produced during the running

time including good, bad, reworked, QC samples,
and product during changeover.

Potential Output at Rated Speed: Potential quantity (in units) given the designed speed of
the equipment.

## Good Output: Total quantity of good product (in units) produced by

the process and that are available for sale without
any type of rework or re-processing.

a) The Excel VBA code in sub procedure Calculate_TPM_Values must implement the
exact algorithm depicted by the flowchart included on Figure 1 of this document.
b) The following inputs must be entered by the user into the spreadsheet Prob3. Your
Excel VBA code must then assign the values of these inputs to variables of the
appropriate type. These variables will then be used to calculate availability,
performance, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE): Actual Operating
Time (in hours)

c) The results for availability, performance, and quality, and overall equipment
effectiveness (OEE) should be reported as percentages (including the % symbol) and
with exactly two digits of precision after the decimal point in the spreadsheet cells.
This requirement must be implemented via Excel VBA code (Hint: Use the function
Format and/or the NumberFormat property of the Range object).
d) Assign the sub procedure Calculate_TPM_Values to a rectangular shape button. The
caption of the rectangular shape button should read Calculate TPM Values.

Note: For the purposes of this problem, you can assume that the user will always
provide input values that will result in the ratios for availability, performance,
and quality to always be between 0 and 1. In other words, you are not
responsible to write Excel VBA code to validate user input.

Question 4 (30 pts)
Write pseudocode and construct a flowchart for the following algorithm. Write an algorithm
to compute the sum of the squares (ss) of the first n positive integers greater than zero. After
calculating ss, the algorithm must check if ss is less than 100. If this is true, ss must be set to
100. Note: Assume the user provides a value for n that is a positive integer greater than zero.

## Question 5 (40 pts)

Prepare Excel worksheet, model and solve the following problem using Excels Solver or
OpenSolver. Suppose you want to locate a single restroom so that company employees have
to travel the smallest possible distance per day when going to the bathroom. Employees work
in four locations within the plant as described in the following table:

Assume that employees always walk in a north-south or east-west direction when going to
and from the restroom. Where should the restroom be located?
