5 A) Observations :- Abnormal sound was heard at wall soot blower No 11 suddenly fluctuations obser
in furnace draught to +30 mmwc BTL confirmed and set withdrawn. After inspection it is observed that f
water wall neck tubes at 8mtr No. 35,36,37,38,39,40 and economiser bottom bank coil no 11 RHS at 33
found damaged.

5 B) Remedial Action/work done :- All damaged portion of tubes replaced by providing speol pieces. T
14 nos. joints welded. Radiography of all 14 No. joints carried out of front water wall neck at 8 mtr
economiser at 33 mtr cleaned by water jetting. Boiler hydraulic test and air leak test for R/H carried out.

6. Root Cause Analysis : Main failure is due to short overheating due to falling of clinker at bottom neck.

7. Preventive action suggested (Short Term) : Failed tube will be sent to CPRI for failure analysis

8. Preventive action suggested (Long Term) : As a scheduled practice of overhaul thickness survey an
checking overheating will be checked . Based on this survey eroded and overheated tubes will be replace
