Benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty scaled their fresh lifetime closing

highs on Monday following strong gains in heavyweights Reliance Industries (RIL), Bharti
Airtel, ITC and banking counters including HDFC Bank and State Bank of India.

The 30-share BSE Sensex settled 216.98 points, or 0.68 per cent, up at 32,245.87, while
NSE Nifty index closed 51.15 points, or 0.52 per cent, up at 9,966.40. The 50-share index
needs just 33 points to hit the psychologically important level of 10,000.

Among the 51-components in the Nifty index, Reliance Industries scaled fresh 52-week
high of Rs 1,624.90. However, the index closed 2.15 per cent up at 1,619.

RIL advanced after the company on Friday announced the launch of JioPhone, a 4G gainer
VoLTE-enabled feature phone, at an effective price of Rs zero.

Global markets remained mixed on Monday as market attention turned to the US Federal Reserve meeting later in the week. Hong
Kongs Hang Seng index settled 0.53 per cent up at 26846.83, while Japans Nikkei closed 0.62 per cent down at 19,975.67.

Germany's DAX was also lower at 12,162, down 0.64 per cent. Britain's FTSE 100 shed 0.89 per cent to 7,386.87 in the late morning
trade.
