Malaria

Malaria Antigen :
surface of invasive stages Adherence to host cells :
CSP-1 (circumsporozoite protein-1)
Lokasi :
o di sporozoit dan surface infected
hepatocyte , bind ke salivary gland, tidak
muncul di erytrocytic stage
Fungsi :
o Berikatan dengan Heparan Sulfate Proteoglycans
SSP2/TRAP Thrombospondin-related Anonymous Protein
Synonym = Second Sporozoite Surface Protein
Lokasi :
o surface of sporozoites tapi dikit & infected
erythrocyte
Fungsi :
o Gliding locomotion sporozoit
o Untuk invasi
MSP-1 & MSP-2 binding ke red cells surface
Lokasi :
o on the surface of merozoites
Pfs230, Pfs45/48 & Pfs25 on the surface of gametes or
ookinetes.
Extracellular stages invasion organelles :
AMA-1, RAP-1/3 & Rhop 1/3, EBA-175, and Ag512.
Lokasi :
o AMA-1 Merozoit surface
Surface of infected erythrocytes :
PfEMP-1, sequestrin and rifins expressed on the surface
of host erythrocyte for cytoadherence to vascular
endothelium, immune evasion and, probably, molecular
transport.
surface of infected hepatocytes, either directly by the
parasite, in order to fulfil a fundamental parasite function or
by means of a host processing function related to MHC Class I
expression. The latter is probably the case of all the exo-
erythrocytic antigens at the surface of hepatocytes, including
CSP-1, LSA-1 & LSA-2, STARP.

excreted during schizogony by means of a transfer from
the parasite to the parasitophorous vacuole and then to
the outside of the cell or,
are released at the time of schizont rupture. They may
be highly immunogenic and be responsible for a
considerable percentage of the total host immune
response and consequently be involved in
immunopathological events. These molecules are also
of interest in immunodiagnosis, as it is the case for
HRP-2.
