YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that this is an official ORDER of the South Carolina State Fire Marshal stating the defects
found to exist in the herein referenced structure or building, and further requiring that you as owner, agent, or person in
control of said structure or building have 30 days to complete the specified repairs or improvements.
You are further notified that the owner, agent, or party in control of said building or structure may APPEAL this ORDER
within thirty (30) days by writing to the State Fire Marshal at the address above and stating the specified ground of appeal.

Fire department connections shall be located on the street side of buildings, fully visible and recognizable from the street or
nearest point of fire department vehicle access or as otherwise approved by the fire chief.

Comment: They have the FDC located in the rear of the building must have some type of sign age at the Street side of the Fire
Lane and at the FDC to direct the Fire Department to the location of the FDC.

Reference Number: 2012 International Fire Code 912.4 Signs.


A metal sign with raised letters at least 1 inch (25 mm) in size shall be mounted on all fire department connections serving
automatic sprinklers, standpipes or fire pump connections. Such signs shall read: AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS or STANDPIPES
or TEST CONNECTION or a combination thereof as applicable. Where the fire department connection does not serve the entire
building, a sign shall be provided indicating the portions of the building served.

New and existing buildings shall have approved address numbers, building numbers or approved building identification placed in
a position that is plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers shall contrast with their
background. Where required by the fire code official, address numbers shall be provided in additional approved locations to
facilitate emergency response. Address numbers shall be Arabic numbers or alphabetical letters. Numbers shall be a minimum
of 4 inches (101.6 mm) high with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch (12.7 mm). Where access is by means of a private road and
the building cannot be viewed from the public way, a monument, pole or other sign or means shall be used to identify the
structure. Address numbers shall be maintained.

Comment: They need to post the address on the building along with along Carolina Forest BLVD. They also need to put the
street sign age up for Revolutionary War Way.

System water control valves and supply pipes shall be protected against freezing and mechanical injury.

Where required by 17.4.8 and unless the specific detector alarm or supervisory signal is indicated at the control unit, remote
alarm or supervisory indicators shall be installed in an accessible location and shall be clearly labeled to indicate both their
function and the air-handling unit(s) associated with each detector. Subsection 17.4.9 was added by a tentative interim
amendment (TIA). See page 1.

Required fire walls, fire barriers and fire partitions shall be maintained to prevent the passage of fire. All openings protected with
approved doors or fire dampers shall be maintained in accordance with NFPA 80.

the rating is maintained.

clearance all the way around the pipe. as required.

Thresholds at doorways shall not exceed 3/4 inch (19.1 mm) in height above the finished floor or landing for sliding doors serving
dwelling units or 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) above the finished floor or landing for other doors. Raised thresholds and floor level changes
greater than 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) at doorways shall be beveled with a slope not greater than one unit vertical in two units horizontal
(50-percent slope). Exception: In occupancy Group R-2 or R-3, threshold heights for sliding and side-hinged exterior doors shall
be permitted to be up to 73/4 inches (197 mm) in height if all of the following apply: 1. The door is not part of the required means
of egress. 2. The door is not part of an accessible route as required by Chapter 11 of the International Building Code. 3. The door
is not part of an Accessible unit, Type A unit or Type B unit.

A sidewall sprinkler shall be permitted to be installed under a soffit when both the minimum distance from the sprinkler deflector
to the bottom of the soffit and the maximum distance from the sprinkler deflector to the high ceiling are maintained.

Comment: According to the MFG specs the concealed heads in the storage closets cannot be no closer than 4" center to wall or
6" to fixtures.

Reference Number: NFPA 72 (2010 Edition) 18.4.9 Location of Audible Notification Appliances for Wide Area Signaling.
Audible notification appliances for wide area signaling shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of the authority
having jurisdiction, approved design documents, and the manufacturers installation instruction to achieve the required
performance.

Comment: The hallway area in the pent house shall have a Speaker strobe installed. Due to the fact it is in the means of egress
and the audible signal cannot be heard in that area.

Reference Number: 2012 International Fire Code 1003.6 Means of egress continuity.
The path of egress travel along a means of egress shall not be interrupted by any building element other than a means of egress
component as specified in this chapter. Obstructions shall not be placed in the required width of a means of egress except
projections permitted by this chapter. The required capacity of a means of egress system shall not be diminished along the path
of egress travel.

For fire alarm systems the circuit disconnecting means shall have a red marking.

Fire protection equipment shall be identified in an approved manner. Rooms containing controls for air-conditioning systems,
sprinkler risers and valves, or other fire detection, suppression or control elements shall be identified for the use of the fire
department. Approved signs required to identify fire protection equipment and equipment location shall be constructed of durable
materials, permanently installed and readily visible.

Reference Number: 2012 International Fire Code 503.1.1 Buildings and facilities.
Approved fire apparatus access roads shall be provided for every facility, building or portion of a building hereafter constructed or
moved into or within the jurisdiction. The fire apparatus access road shall comply with the requirements of this section and shall
extend to within 150 feet (45 720 mm) of all portions of the facility and all portions of the exterior walls of the first story of the
building as measured by an approved route around the exterior of the building or facility. Exception: The fire code official is
authorized to increase the dimension of 150 feet (45 720 mm)where: 1. The building is equipped throughout with an approved
automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1, 903.3.1.2 or 903.3.1.3. 2. Fire apparatus access roads
cannot be installed because of location on property, topography, waterways, nonnegotiable grades or other similar conditions,
and an approved alternative means of fire protection is provided. 3. There are not more than two Group R-3 or Group U
occupancies.

Where required by the fire code official, approved signs or other approved notices or markings that include the words NO
PARKINGFIRE LANE shall be provided for fire apparatus access roads to identify such roads or prohibit the obstruction
thereof. The means by which fire lanes are designated shall be maintained in a clean and legible condition at all times and be
replaced or repaired when necessary to provide adequate visibility.

Fire apparatus access roads shall not be obstructed in any manner, including the parking of vehicles. The minimum widths and
clearances established in Section 503.2.1 shall be maintained at all times.
