Lesson idea implementation: Students will be tasked to create their own unique video about the quadratic
equation, they will incorporate what they have learned and expand on thoughts moving forward. They will
use imovie, and include an audio track. I will show them how to start the project, and guide them along the
way. This will be a 1 week project, concurrent to the learning of the quadratic equation in class.
The movies will be assessed on content, creativity, and originality. Students get to choose how to present the
materials, and in what manner they express their personal views and social biases. They can publish their
videos on the class blog, for the rest of the class to view and comment.

Importance of technology: Students get to choose what content is included in their movie, they get voice and
choice. They are the producers, which give them a unique perspective on the production of a final product.
Imovie is a critical piece to this project, as it is a very user friendly creation tool that allows students to produce
high quality videos with little technical ability.
Inspiration (optional): I believe this project will engage the students to a level that they focus and
concentrate their efforts on the task. The goal is to understand the quadratic equation.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: The videos will only be shared within the class, so no privacy rules come
into play. If the students want to publish their work outside the classroom, they will need parental permission.
