GUITAR COMPING-2 STUDENT GUIDE

DESCRIPTION
Comping is jazz terminology for accompanying either a vocalist or another instrument
such as guitar/saxophone. This term, you will learn to accompany two songs (one for a
male vocalist, and another for a female vocalist), plus an instrumental (the lead instrument
could be a guitar). You will also be required to learn a song or instrumental of your own
choice for an assessment towards the end of this term, so it would be worthwhile starting
to think of a suitable and easy song/instrumental now.

Weeks 1&2 - Instrumental: Chablis (Kevin Harding)

Weeks 3&4 - Female Song: Bring Me To Life (Evanescence)

Weeks 5&6 - Male Song: If You Tolerate This (Manic Street Preachers)

Weeks 7&8 - Student Choice

Week 9&10 Practical Assessment
