On 1981, Ms. X, a 29 years old and a graduate of Elementary Education worked in an

public elementary school in Tierra Nevada, Tinambac, Camarines Sur. She was works with her

colleagues smoothly until one of them accused her of doing something which lead to a serious

trouble. Her co-teacher accidentally pushed her and bumped her head into the steel window of

a classroom. She never tried to file any criminal case against her co-teacher due to some family

concerns. She continued to teach after that incident until after two and a half years, when her

mother noticed that Ms. X is not in her normal state. They noticed that she acts weird and

manifests signs of indifference. They immediately asked help from faith healers but then, seek

for medical interventions. They went to Metro Manila to look for a mental hospital until they

end up in Good Shepherd Mental Institute, a private mental institute near National Mental

Institute in Mandaluyong. After several months of continuous medication and treatment, Ms. X

was advised by her doctor to go back in teaching while taking medications every month. She

immediately went back in Bicol to pursue her career and live a normal life with her family. Few

years after being hospitalized she decided to marry a 29 year old guy from Rapu-rapo, Albay,

without knowing that the man she married used another name. Until after livingtogether for

about four years, she found out her husbandƞs secret. She decided to end up their relationship

and stay with her friend in Tierra Nevada, Tinambac, thinking that it will be safe for her to stay

on the said place not knowing that she was already pregnant that time. Her parents looked for

her after hearing the news from her husband. The family went to Tinambac to look for her and

convinced her to stay with them instead. After a few days, her husband went to her parents

house to talk to her and ask for her forgiveness and promised her that he will not do it again

and because of her love to her husband, she accepted her husband despite her anger. They

decided to go back to Albay to start all over again and live a normal life together as if nothing
happens. While in Albay, they decided to look after her husbandƞs 15-year old niece. Until, she

found out that her husbandƞs niece was pregnant and her husband was the father of the said

baby. After knowing what had happened, Ms. X previous mental problem was aggravated. She

started to manifest signs of being mentally disturbed. This incident brought a lot of conflicts

especially between her husband and her family which greatly traumatized. All of these events

contributed to the Ms. X present condition. She usually screams, unable to concentrate, talks

and acts irrelevantly thatƞs why she is now admitted at Don Susano J.Rodriguez Memorial

Mental Hospital at Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur.

Mental health as defined by WHO is the state of emotional, psychological and social

awareness evidenced by satisfying relationships, effective behaviour and coping, positive self

concept and emotional stability.

Humans can be weak and easily be affected by the problems that may come his way

especially if he canƞt cope with it positively and worse, if he doesnƞt know how to handle it.

Simple anxieties can cause major mental disturbances and affect manƞs daily living then

permanently mess it up if it is not given immediate attention and care. Several mental disorders

are now being treated and managed by psychiatric team which aims at promoting safety and

comfort to both patients and their families.

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that causes distorted and bizarre

thoughts, perceptions, emotions, movements, and behaviour. Its onset may be on early

adulthood and be triggered by stress and exhaustion. It is thought to be a disease process with
many different varieties and symptoms. It has different types and symptoms that may manifest

throughout the disease process.

Our patient, Ms. X had been diagnosed with schizophrenia in her

early life, it relapsed and aggravated by different stressful situations in her life. She is now

disturbed and shows signs of paranoid schizophrenia.
