Description: Primarily assist with the transition of SMU incoming freshmen football players into
full-circle college enrollment and athletic participation.

Assist Coach Stigall with daily football operations duties:

Projects Include:
o Organize and label camp t-shirts
o Edit fall camp itinerary
o Sit in on meetings with prospective walk-ons

Assist Coach Stigall with the Transition of Incoming Football Players:

Projects Include:
o Prepare Reporting Day Itinerary
o Help with Welcome Ceremony Details
o Welcome Folder Preparation
o Register Incoming Athletes for Advising Appointments
o Organize the Summer Calendar
o Prepare Welcome Meeting Prezi

Assist Coach Stigall with Summer Youth Camp Promotion:

Projects Include:
o Brainstorm potential targets for Youth Camp Promotional materials
o Call & Email Local targets to promote our camp
o Keep a journal or log of contacts made while promoting camp
o Circle back to follow up with previously contacted targets

Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this internship, the student will be able to:
Articulate NCAA academic and athletic standards for
summer eligibility and enrollment
Construct individualized freshmen football player transition
plans and documents for summer and fall athletic and
academic start
Effectively communicate football player transition plans to
parents and major stakeholders
Effectively demonstrate administrative responsibilities in a
spots management and higher education student affairs
setting
 Apply sports management and higher education student
affairs industry specific knowledge to professional practice
Provision for Instruction Initial: Make contact with coaches, staff, and administration
within the SMU Football and greater Athletic Department.

Ongoing: Daily wrap-up meetings with site supervisor and

weekly in depth one-on-one meetings.
