Macawile Negotiating & Managing Conflict-RP #1

MIB 2017 - LT2 Prof. Nieves R. Confesor
July 28, 2017

Negotiating and Managing Conflict First Meeting.

What do you think, Mark?. A challenging tone came from a new and unfamiliar voice
during our afternoon class last Tuesday, July 25. I suddenly get back into my consciousness and
remembered that Im in the negotiating and managing conflict class with our newly met
professor, Prof. Confesor. My mind is catching up on the first 5 minutes of the session due to
rigorous sleepless night before that day for the endless WACs that we had but the enthusiasm
and challenging tone from Prof Confesor made my brain cells electrified and work again. I was
honestly expecting the class to be a typical human behavior class with theories being flash on the
projector and phrases being quoted from some prominent people, but this class is very unique
just like our Building Team and Leadership courses which both are very hands-on. But this course
amazed me more as we already had 3 simulations in one day. This mean a lot to me because even
before this course I already read a lot of books about dealing, gaining, and making good
relationship to other people like Robert Greenes 48 Laws of Power and The Art of Seduction and
Dale Carnegies How to Win Friend and Influence People. I also read some excerpt from Sun Tzus
Art of War . All these books I read made me feel confident in taking this Negotiating and Managing
Conflict course but on the very first day with it made me realize that theres more to learn and
most importantly theres more to EXPERIENCE.

I personally dont want to make this reflection paper as if I a discussing every activity and
lecture weve done in the classroom. I want this to sound as how it affects me after going through
a day with the course. The activities did a very well job on letting me question my entire human
behavior. It opened my peripheral views of the things that Im doing wrong like looking into world
that only those who win will survive (maybe because of my 48 Laws of Power reading) and the
world is for winners not losers. It also slaps me in time to made me realized how arrogant I am in
thinking that I have the same assumptions as others. The course became very specific to what it
wants to do for the MIB group. For me, I felt all the things said by Prof Confesor and done by the
class as whole is noteworthy. All pieces of reality bluntly discussed looks like a building block in
my human nature that were long lost due to un recognizable reason.

As I am doing this reflection paper, my hands and mind are in sync in knowing that theres
more to write and learn in the coming sessions. I hope that I live up to the performance and
expectation of this course as I do my part in participating and providing my personal insights to
the class.
