Ideas Previas Ingls

Dear teachers,

The following is a list of my experiences with the English language:

At High School I had to take English classes from 6th to 11 th grade. As far I can remember, it was a
kind of painful, due wasnt taught in context. However, I think all the grammar was taught in each
subject and grade.

Later on, at the university, I was matriculate to get my diploma as technologist in chemistry and the
main and more important books were in English, so I had to develop some technical English skills.

Once I got my first job, as biochemistry and molecular biology lab assistant, all the material (books,
lab protocols, etc.) were in English, so I had to face it.

A couple years later I took English classes to demonstrate proficiency in a second language, in
order to graduate as Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Specialist. This experience was very
pleasant and very handy.

In 2000, I went to USA and got a position as scientist in a pharmaceutical company. Dear God, my
technical English was not enough to communicate, then I had to start to improve my listening and
speech skills, I went to a local English institute; here the conversation classes help me a lot. Besides
this courses, the daily contact we native English speakers was the key. I came back to Colombia 6
years ago and the only contact with the English are one and other document and of course the
movies.

And now I am here to continue with this journey.

Regards,

Ren Marn Rodrguez.
