runningandthealternatorsuppliesnoenergy(e.g.enginestart/stopphases).
Inordertoprotectthevehiclebattery,aDC/DCconverterisinstalledinthePowerControlUnit(PCU)
andanauxiliarybatteryintheenginecompartmentintheG30.
Thepreconditionsforthedirectionoftheenergymanagementarecalculatedfromtheuseofthe
vehicle.Whentheengineisrunningtheauxiliarybatteryischargedfromtheconventionalvehicle
electricalsystem.Duringthephasesinwhichthecombustionengineisnotrunning,e.g.automatic
start/stopfunction,theenergyissuppliedfromtheauxiliarybatteryintotheconventionalvehicle
electricalsystem.
ThePowerControlUnitPCUcontainsacontrolunitwhichisconnectedtothePT-CAN2andaDC/DC
converterwithapowerof500W.
Onvehicleswiththeequipmentelectricactiverollstabilization,thisissuppliedbytheauxiliarybattery

ThegreaterweightoftheenginesintheG30onvehicleswith8-cylinderenginesresultsinahigher
frontaxleload.Thishastheeffectthattherequiredpowerofthesteeringassistincreases.Dueto

Itispossibletosaveenergy,relievetheloadonthebatteryandalsoprolongthebatterylifebytargeted
deactivationandactivationoncontrolunitswhicharenotneeded,so-calledselectivepartialnetwork
operation.
