I. PRESENTACIN

Este curso tiene como objetivo la consolidacin de destrezas necesarias para la

comprensin de textos en ingls relacionados directamente con la Informtica. Al
finalizar el curso, el estudiante tendr suficiente conocimiento de aspectos
gramaticales y de vocabulario tcnico para poder aplicarlo en la comprensin de
lectura de variedad de textos relacionados con la tecnologa.

II. OBJETIVO GENERAL

El estudiante ser capaz de demostrar comprensin de textos escritos en Ingls

relacionados con la Informtica.

III. OBJETIVOS ESPECFICOS

El estudiante:

1. Identificar la terminologa relacionada con paquetes grficos, autoedicin, diseo

web y tecnologa multimedia en general.

2. Seleccionar el vocabulario correcto y ms adecuado propio de la programacin,

para completar diferentes ejercicios dados.

3. Extraer y responder informacin general y especfica sobre telecomunicaciones y

nuevas tecnologas tomadas de un texto dado.

4. Construir diferentes expresiones relacionadas con los temas informticos

utilizando claves gramaticales aprendidas en el curso.

5. Establecer cul es la respuesta correcta en situaciones nuevas, utilizando la

informacin que ha recibido.

6. Har correcto uso de los diferentes tiempos verbales presentes en las diferentes
unidades que componen el curso.

IV. OBSERVACIONES GENERALES

El presente curso est dirigido a estudiantes con un nivel intermedio de dominio del
idioma ingls y que hayan cursado la materia Ingls para Informtica I, cdigo 997.
Estos dos aspectos facilitarn su desempeo acadmico.

Adems, se recomienda distribuir el esfuerzo de estudio como se le seala en el

cronograma para evitar acumulacin de contenidos y para un mejor aprovechamiento
del material. Saber ingls es una habilidad, por lo tanto requiere intensa prctica para
lograr una competencia real.

El libro de texto del curso es Infotech: English for Computer Users. Students
Book. 4ta Edicin. Escrito por Santiago Remacha de Cambridge University. Este

material es entregado cuando el estudiante lleva la materia Ingls para Informtica

cd. 0997. Si usted no posee el material o tiene una edicin anterior, puede
conseguirlo en libreras comerciales o comunicarse con la ctedra para guiarle.

Para reforzar las explicaciones y prcticas gramaticales, puede consultar cualquier

libro de gramtica en el mercado o en las bibliotecas de la UNED, o bien, cualquiera
de los links sugeridos.

V. METODOLOGA

El estudiante debe estudiar el material asignado para cada tutora, tal y como se
explica en el cronograma de la pg. 5. Esto significa leer las explicaciones
gramaticales, realizar los ejercicios de prctica y llevar a su quehacer acadmico o
laboral el vocabulario tcnico, con el auxilio de los diferentes ejercicios presentes en
la unidad didctica.

Al final de estas orientaciones encontrar un apndice con las respuestas de los

ejercicios que aparecen en las unidades 16-30 del libro de texto. Luego de realizados
los ejercicios, las respuestas deben ser revisadas contra dicho solucionario para
asegurarse de que estn correctas.

Los ejercicios de escucha no sern asignados como estudio individual, pues no son el
objetivo central de este curso; sin embargo, el material de audio se pondr a
disposicin de aquellos estudiantes que deseen desarrollar esta habilidad a travs de
la pgina Web de la Ctedra.

Ninguna informacin relacionada con horarios de tutoras y pruebas

escritas, fechas de exmenes y entrega de tareas; as como, calificaciones
se suministran por telfono o por correo electrnico.

VI. EVALUACION

Consideraciones generales:

Artculo 48, Reglamento General Estudiantil:

El proceso de evaluacin de los aprendizajes constar de los siguientes momentos

para la aplicacin de los instrumentos o pruebas: ordinario y de reposicin.
a) Prueba escrita ordinaria: Instrumentos o pruebas escritas, con la utilizacin
de formato fsico o digital que haya sido previamente anunciada en las Orientaciones
Acadmicas de los cursos o asignaturas entregadas a cada estudiante.

b) Prueba escrita de reposicin: Instrumentos de evaluacin con la utilizacin

de formato fsico o digital que se aplica por una nica vez para reponer solo una de
las pruebas escritas ordinarias, de cada asignatura, por reprobacin o no presentacin
de sta. Evaluar los mismos contenidos y objetivos de aprendizaje correspondiente
a la prueba escrita ordinaria que se repone. La nota obtenida sustituye la calificacin
de la prueba escrita ordinaria.

Es responsabilidad del estudiante decidir si matricula o no la prueba de reposicin. La

ctedra solo sugiere cul examen podra reponer con base en la calificacin obtenida.

Para justificar la ausencia a una prueba escrita, se considerar razones de fuerza

mayor lo estipulado en el Artculo 4, Inciso i), Reglamento General Estudiantil:

Circunstancias o eventos especiales fuera de control para la asistencia a la

aplicacin de pruebas evaluativas: circunstancias o eventos fuera de control de la
administracin de la UNED o de los propios estudiantes. Estas situaciones son deces o
del padre, la madre, cnyuge o hijos, o incapacidades mdicas emitidas por la CCSS.
Tambin cualquier otra actividad que impida a cada estudiante en forma
efectiva el desplazamiento o asistencia al lugar de aplicacin de la prueba, como por
ejemplo: inundaciones locales o regionales, deslizamientos de terreno, sismos y sus
posibles consecuencias y bloqueo de carreteras. Ausencias por representacin
institucional de parte de estudiantes designados en actividades de organizacin
acadmicas, deportivas y culturales.

Los instrumentos de evaluacin que forman parte de esta asignatura son:

EXMENES ORDINARIOS

Estas pruebas son escritas y evalan el material estudiado en el libro de texto. Estos
exmenes se llevan a cabo en el centro universitario al cual pertenece el estudiante.
No se permite el uso de diccionario, traductores electrnicos o fichas de estudio.
Tienen un valor de 30% cada uno. Los contenidos incluidos en cada prueba son:

Examen Ordinario I
Unidades 16 al 23. Libro de texto

Examen Ordinario II
Unidades 24 al 30. Libro de texto

TAREAS INDIVIDUALES

Las tareas son una serie de ejercicios comprensivos de los diferentes temas
estudiados. Son un total de 2 y se encuentran en las orientaciones acadmicas. El
porcentaje de cada tarea es de 20% y los contenidos son:

Tarea #1: Unidades 16 al 23. Libro de texto

Tarea #2: Unidades 24 al 30. Libro de texto

Para llevar a cabo los ejercicios con xito, el estudiante debe estudiar la teora
primero. Algunas consideraciones sobre las tareas son:

Las tareas no sern aceptadas en la tutora o en formato digital. Se sugiere el

presentarlas al Centro Universitario ms cercano para obtener comprobante de
entrega de la misma.

El estudiante puede descargar las orientaciones en formato PDF desde la web en

Se puede responder a mano con lapicero azul o negro o por medio de
computadora. No fotocopiar las respuestas.
No se calificarn slo las respuestas de las tareas: debe incluir ejercicio y
encabezados.
Las tareas deben ser completadas nicamente en INGLS.

Computing languages

C++ was developed from the C language. It was designed as a systems programming
language with features that make it easy to control the computer hardware efficiently.
It was used to produce the Microsoft windows operating system. It is portable , i.e.
programs written in C++ can be easily adapted for use on many different types of
computer system.

HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a page description language used
for creating webpages. HTML uses a system of tags to mark page links and formatting.
For example, the tag <u> tells the program to start underlining a text. Although
programs cannot be created using HTML, small programs can be embedded in HTML
code using a scripting language like JavaScript.

Java is a programming language originally designed for programming small electronic

devices such as mobile phones. It can run unchanged on any operating system that
has a Java Interpreter program. Java is used for writing programs for the World Wide
Web.

Visual Basic is a programming environment, not simply a language. It uses the

language BASIC, a simple language developed to make it easy for people to learn
how to program. Visual Basic has predefined objects such as dialog boxes, buttons,
and text boxes which can be chosen from a toolbox and dragged across the screen
using the mouse and dropped into the required position. BASIC programming code is
