Rob Patterson
Book Editing/Writing References
I found Rob Patterson via Craigslist and hired him to edit my memoir Training
Effects, and was very pleased with his work and the help and support he gave
me in bringing my first book to published fruition.

He edited my copy in a way that respected my writer's voice and enhanced it,
all the while making my writing clearer, and more focused and eloquent. He
suggested and assisted with some structural changes that made the book read
better. His skills as well as enthusiasm for my talents and the book helped me
make Training Effects the best book in could be.

Rob also worked with me to format the manuscript for self-publication via
Create Space. As well, he wrote an excellent book proposal to use in
presenting the book to agents and publishers. Throughout the process he was a consummate
professional to work with, and I would recommend him without reservation to anyone who seeks a
gifted book editor.

Rob Patterson proved to be an invaluable resource as an Editor on my book
Higher Nutrition. Being a first-time writer, I appreciated his supportive and
encouraging manner in working with me on my copy. His editorial gifts helped
transform my prose into clear and very readable copy while respecting my
natural voice and tone.

Rob also assisted me in preparing my book for self-publication via

Amazon.com. He helped format it, select and place art, and ensure that the
manuscript was ready for submission.

Working with him was a genuine creative partnership that helped me grow as a
writer and author. And an enjoyable experience that resulted in a friendship.

Rob Patterson is an dear longtime friend and a talented writer and editor who I always hoped I would
work with on writing a memoir about my life as a rock'n'roll guitarist, Forty Years in the Rock'n'Roll
Wilderness. Now that we are in the process of working together on it, he's gone beyond my
expectations as an editor who makes what I write read better.

He respects my voice and style while at the same time helping to refine how I write, and has given me
valuable guidance on improving the structure and content of the book. He's proved himself adept at
working with the differences between American English and British English I'm an Englishman and
understanding English locutions and expressions. He's skilled at improving sentence structure and
grammar where needed and has a keen eye for catching and checking facts, the spelling of the names
of people and places and other basics that need to be attended to in creating a quality book
manuscript.

We've been able to work together quite smoothly even with the distance between us; I'm in London
and Rob is in America. And the working process has been fun as well as inspiring to me as I embark
on my first writing project.

I heartily recommend Rob as a superb editor for a book project who will ensure that the manuscript is
the best it can be.

Rob Patterson had been a friend and colleague for more than three decades, and I can attest to his
considerable talents as a writer and editor. From 1990 to 1995 I was a regular contributor to the Austin
Chronicle in Austin, Texas. Rob edited my copy, and I do not exaggerate when I say that Rob is the
best editor I have ever worked with. I know that other writers held him in similar esteem. Rob edited
my pieces with a deft, sure hand and always made them better. Skillful, generous editors are rare
creatures and I felt lucky to be working with him.

Rob knows how to do the job. That is no small task. Being able to count on someone to do wonderful
work in a short amount of time is something to be appreciated. Rob handles many of our press
releases and bios. He is very good at what he does and is always reliable. I have worked with Rob for
years and will continue to do so.

I first got to know Rob Patterson as a journalist and editor when I lived in Austin, TX in the 1990s. After
starting my PR firm in Charlotte, NC, I had tried hiring writers for press releases, bios and other copy
and was never satisfied with their work. When one day I posted on Facebook how I was struggling
with a press release, Rob messaged me to point out how he had decades of experience as a PR
writer. From the first assignment, his work was excellent: well-written, clean, crisp, comprehensive, on
point and delivered quickly. He has done writing for me on a variety of clients restaurants, a TV
newscaster, painter and gallery owner, and Olympic gold medal figure skater Tara Lipinski and I
would recommend him without reservation for your writing or editing needs.
