LESSON OUTLINE:
CONTENT ESTIMATED
TIME
INTRODUCTION & REVIEW: 10 minutes
Review homework for todays lesson and discuss any questions; recall
prior learning that is useful to help students acquire the new content;
begin with grabbing the students attention with something interesting yet
relevant to the lessons topic, followed by an explanation of the learning
objectives.
PRESENTATION: 20 minutes
Present key vocabulary of the corresponding semantic field (see
vocabulary list below) by showing students the website of the post office
in TC and asking students to read about the different ways of sending a
letter/package; provide a vocabulary list and then show students a video
clip of people sending a package; show a model dialogue between person
who ask to send/receive package and the post office clerk; share a cultural
note about the system of postage in TC (e.g. if the cost is decided by
weight or by distance, standard vs expedite post office, etc.); students
read about certified mail and discuss the situations in which certified mail
would be used; and/or if applicable, introduce or review a grammatical or
lexical feature that is relevant to the material and likely to occur in the
context of the topic.

APPLICATION: 35 minutes
Students share their personal experiences at the post office in Russia;
students role-play sending a certified letter and package; students choose
the shipping method based on the information on the post office website
(e.g. the price, the expected period of time for delivery, insurance, etc.);

Read the beginning of very famous Russian fairy-tale and answer true/false questions. Make a
