COURSE TITLE NUMERICAL ANALYSIS

SEMESTER FIFTH

CREDIT HOURS THEORY 03 Hrs

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To enable the students appreciate the significance of numerical methods for solving
engineering problems. The module enables the students to check the behavior of systems
in the fields of Engineering Sciences involving very complicated mathematical problems,
the analytical solutions of which are either very difficult or impossible to evaluate and
approximation becomes inevitable. Furthermore, to teach the students the use of
computers in solving complicated engineering problems by developing algorithms of
various numerical methods.

TEACHING METHODS

Primary mode of teaching will be the lectures delivered in class. To achieve better
understanding of the course, assignments and quizzes will be given.
Apart from the scheduled lectures, extra lectures can be arranged to discuss the
problems (if any) or to discuss any special topics (depending on the desire of
students).
The lab course shall also be conducted along with theory to better understand the
concepts practically.

PARTICIPATION
The course consists of a two-hour lecture per week. Active participation in this course by all
students is required and expected. Attendance for all lectures is strongly advised. Any
student whose performance/attendance is less than 75% will be notified by the University
and may be dropped from the course for insufficient progress or participation.
