The NMTA4 alumni awards, presented at New Mexico Tech Commencement ceremonies, recognize the achievements and contributions af fellow alumni and thoze who support the alumni association and New Mexico Tech. 4 hallmark of the recipients i excellence in many forms. Honors for this year’s Distinguished Achievement Award racipient go to Lauren Roberts (B.5.. Mining Engineering, 1958, New Mevico Tech). Roberts, a licensed Professional Engineer (mining) 1m several states, fs an accomplished leader in developing new and improving existing mining operations in countries throughout the warid. Roberts is currentiy the Chief Operanmg Officer (COQ) for Kinrass Gaid Corp, 2 senior gald mining company with mines and project: in six countries. Honors for this year's NMUTAt Distinguished Service Award go-to the lave Frank Greiner, M.D. (B.5., chemistry and mathematics, 1973, Mew Mexico Tech). Dr. Greinar had a long careor as a professor of radiology at the University Of South Alabama College Of Medicine. Dr. Greiner was proud of his degrees from Tach and credived his New Mexico Tech experience with preparing him for his subsequent alefter from your alumni association degrees and his career, ultimately allowing him to stand toe-to-toe with calleague: who had attended Ihy League universities. Upon Dr. Greiner's pacring in 2015, his family and friend: created the Frank Grainer Memorial Scholarship at New Mexico Tech. iso, NMEA is pleased to announce that honors for the NMTA4 Distinguished Service Award go to The Vigilantes band. The Vigilantes was formed in 1975 by seven New Mexico Tech students, and reformed every year for the New Mexico Tech ‘ers homecoming celebration. The Pigilanres observed its 40th, and final, anniversary at the 2016 49ers celebracion. For generations of Techies, The Vigilantes concluded each day af events during 49ers with one af the mast popular parties af the year. playing Thursday through Saturday nights at the Capito!
