THE EVALUATION OF QUALITY OF INPATIENT CARE

BY USING MORTALITY AUDITS IN DISTRICT HOSPITAL

Bangko Merangin Regency in Jambi Province during 2002-2005 required critical

audit. Mortality audit as a critical evaluation was conducted as an effort of health-care
quality improvement.

Objective: The research was aimed to determine unreasonable death cause event from
the deviation of health service management area.

Method: It was a retrospective review research reviewing unreasonable deaths by using


by the mortality deviation checklist in RSKA.

Result: Of 413rd set medical records (MR), mortalities being audited of 102nd sets, the
mortality rate as degree occurred in 2005, toward total patient occurred in 2004, most of
them were coded at 002. 60% mortality costing < Rp 3.000.000.oo, occurred in intensive
care unit. Mortality occurred under > 45th years old was 49% of mostly female, mortality
time increased in September and December and the nurses were the persons most
often witnessed pat i

Of 21st unreasonable deaths. They were distributed into: 8th deaths by black
causes; 7th deaths by inappropriate diagnoses, 5th deaths by inadequate preventive
treatments; and once death by late-established pr incipal

cause of deaths occurred in the following areas: administration/management;

Conclusion: The important areas as cause of deviation of death result of audit and
reviewing following administration/management factors, professional or individually,
