Can I Make a Difference - Day by Day

Day 1: Students will create a Google site for their personal portfolio. (TEK 6N)

Day2: Introduce project with videos

Student completes Google Form: http://goo.gl/forms/PGX0g2LJ1Z that asks: If you could change 1
thing (school, community, state, country, world), what would it be? (TEK 126.15.3c.4A)

Teacher will group students with the same/similar topic to partner with. Individual teacher decides if
groups are mandatory or students can work as individuals.

Students should use their I pads and do a quick research on one person in the 2nd video that they did
not recognize and create a quick write with any app and share to turn in to teacher. (Put a list of the
names up for the students to choose from) (Inquiry) [TEKS 126.15.3c.3D]

Day 3: Students will get together according to unknown person, find an Image of the person and share
what they learned, then select a spokesperson to share findings with the class.

Students will get with their topic groups and collaborate with Google drive, and begin generating
questions, at least 10. Teacher says, Create a list of questions about your topic. No answering, no side
conversations, no discussions - just questions. Each student needs to identify their question by putting
their name before question. (Give students 5 minutes - using a timer - to create the questions) (AVID
QUICK-WRITE) - Turned in to LMS for Daily Grade

Day 4: Students will decide on a main question that will drive their research/project.

Students will complete and turn in a project contract. (In Google Forms/AVID collaboration]

Day 5: Group Leader/Facilitator creates folder on Google drive and shares with other group members.

Research driving question and keep a document that is uploaded to the Google drive folder at the end of
each class. Search for images to illustrate campaign (save the images to the Google drive folder)

Create bibliography [126.15.3c.5A,B,C,D] Search for facts to back up your campaign

Day 6: Students will continue research and turn in by the end of class. [126.15.3c.4A,B,C,D,F] Groups
Facilitator will communicate groups progress thru classroom app [126.15.3c.6Lii]

Day 7: Students will watch Design Toolkit for Small Business IPad app videos. (Major Grade) Teacher
talks to students about logos and the importance of branding. (with examples)

Each group will use an online or IPad app logo generator to create their campaign logo. (Daily grade)

Day 8: Teacher shows students examples of letterheads. Give criteria for format. Each group creates
their Business letterhead. Each individual student must write a letter to the school board thanking them
for the IPad on their company letterhead.[126.15.3c.1B]
Students will create their spreadsheet with a running totals of expenses.

Day 9: Groups use their letterhead to send a memo to the teacher outlining their mission statement for
approval (daily grade) Groups will create a slogan for their business/campaign, and then edit their
letterhead to include the slogan at the bottom of the page.

Day 10: Each student will create business cards for themselves using any desktop publishing IPad app or
any other desktop publishing software that is NOT word. (Daily grade) Students will update their
spreadsheet with the cost of printing business cards.

Day 11: Group leaders will set up their campaign website using Google sites and their school Google
account and share with their partners. All group members will be responsible for editing the website.

Day 12: Work on website [126.2A,B] Students will turn in the link to their website to the LMS [major
grade] Students will update their spreadsheet with the cost of getting a website designed/hosted.

Day 13: Teacher shares the criteria of a good brochure with examples. Groups will create a brochure
using desktop publishing IPad app or any other desktop publishing software (NOT WORD) [126.15.3c.6D,
126.15.3c.1C]

Day 14: Work on Brochure

Day 15: Finish Brochure and turn in by the end of class [major grade] Students will update their
spreadsheet with the cost of printing brochures Day 16: Show sample PSAs from last semester to
introduce concept on LMS. Students begin to storyboard their PSA either on Poplet, Google Slides, or
using an online storyboard Generator or IPad app (daily grade)

Day 17-21: Begin PSA - students can take pictures or videos using their IPad to create their PSA using
any multi- media software such as IMovie, movie maker, photostory3, animoto etc. [126.15.3c.1A, B]

Day 22: Finish PSA [major grade]

Day 23: Share PSAs with another campus.

Day 24: Student complete self-reflection sheet on Google Forms.
