Panay bukidnon tribe in Iloilo, this is located at the mountainous place in

Calinog Iloilo. This tribe is rich when it comes in culture. One of them is a

GAMABA awardee that make their tribe popular. Various chants, dances, epics and

arts are common to their tribe. There are two binukot or panay bukidnon that came

here in our school. They are fun and happy. They can entertain very well and can

speak English fluently. And all of the students are very interested to them because

they express their culture clearly. I didn't expect that they can perform chanting,

singing and dancing at their age. I don't understand the lyrics of their songs and

chants. One of the elder in their tribe is a GAMABA awardee. He is Federico

Tuohan Caballero. He can chant 11 epics of panay together because chanting is his

specialty. They called him tuohan because they believed in him. I think that dancing is

a form of courtship as what they performed. They are also inviting us to visit their

tribe. To experience their different kinds of cultures and traditions. I know that they

can continue to preserve their culture because someday I want to experience their way

of living.

On the afternoon session during our special talk at JBL hall. We talk about

visual arts (drawings & paintings, and photography). Visual arts include mediums such

as drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, film, and printmaking. My

reflection about the visual arts. Visual arts are focus in drawings and paintings by

doing this it expands your imagination. The more ideas that come up on your mind
the better masterpiece will be drawn. I really enjoyed how there were many different

paintings and drawings throughout the talk. Every piece of art has its own style or

theme. Painting is great hobby for each in every one of us. It widens your deep

imagination. Because imagination is very important in paintings. On the other hand,

Photography allows us to express our feeling and emotions, but to do so we need to

master the some techniques in using a camera. A photographer is separated from his

subject by the camera. An artistic photograph is created when technique is used to

express a vision and an emotion, not when technique is used for its own sake. To

master a photography needs more practice and sacrifices. Light is a big help when you

are a photographer. Without light your work will look like a black no meaning. But if

the light will be your partner your work will be meaningful. All the different styles,

techniques, and themes were shown well. Also, I believe that because all the pieces

were presented well, everyone was able to experience what art class is truly about. It is

not just about learning to paint or draw, it is about making pieces of art that you truly

care about. I really enjoyed the special talk about visual arts especially in photography.

I learned some ideas when taking pictures using DSLR. It is a very big help to know

the importance of it.
