A brief note on Ashok Wankhade

A son of a primary teacher from remote village Kolvai in a backward district of


Maharashtra Yeotmal; Ashok Wankhade,fondly known as Bhau throughout India is
now a known columnist and a Political Analyst with ABP group which runs ABP
News a premier Hindi News Channel from Delhi and ABP Maza a Marathi news
channel from Mumbai. His unbiased, balanced style and not mincing his words,
when it comes to fact based criticism of any political party, post or issue makes
Bhau different. He writes columns for various Marathi, Hindi and English News
Papers and magazines on Politics, Social Sector, Economics, Food, Films and
Music He is also an Editor of a monthly magazine Urban Update published by
All India Institute of Local Self Government. He also presents a show on
Whistleblower News India a current affairs You Tube channel. To date more than
4.5 crore viewers have viewed the program.

Bhau is well read and well informed on all the social, political and geographical
issues and that makes his programmes and debates lively, interesting and even
educative. His ability to use simple language where needed, the flow and
correlating issues with the common man and day to day happenings makes the
viewer feel more involved in his programmes.

After his primary education in government school in Loni in Yeotmal he Joined


Sainik School at Satara in Maharashtra and was all India 10th in Merit for 62nd
National Defence Academy course. However, due to medical problem he had to
leave NDA.

Though Born in Maharashtra, Ashok Bhau started his career as Journalist in


Madhya Pradesh with Free Press Journal now known as Free Press, in Indore
edition as a trainee journalist in 1983. Bhau, then was perusing his graduation at
Christian Collage Indore. Soon Bhau was promoted as Business Editor and in
1989. Prabhakar Machve a known literary figure who launched a Hindi daily
Choutha Sansar at Indore, chose Bhau over many others as the editor. Machaveji
recruited Ashok as a Chautha Sansar bureau chief for Delhi.

Thereafter Ashok moved from Choutha Sansar and started writing in various
publications, to name few, Hindustan Times, Dainik Hindustan, Sunday mail Hindi
and English, Navbharat Times, Vama etc. in Delhi.

It was a time when video magazine concept was taking shape. Ashok Bhau shifted
from print to video format and soon was an executive producer of a Video
Magazine Indradhanush. After a two years of experience he joined Pritish Nandy
for his business program Fiscal Fitness the first business program on Zee TV.

The multi-faceted, multi-talented, versatile Ashok Bahu produced and directed


number of corporate films, ad films and presentation films. He directed
a developmental serial Dastak for Doordarshan. He regularly heard on All India
Radio as political expert and also as a radio artist for Marathi serials on radio.

Widely travelled nationally and Internationally Ashok Wankhade is a known


communication expert and trains human resource on good skills of communication.

Ashok Bhau is married to Manjari Chaturvedi who is working as Special


Correspondent in the national bureau of Navbharat Times a Hindi daily of Times of
India group. Their son Atharva is studying in class 11th.

As a writer he loves to write on food and films. He himself is a known cook in his
circle. He loves classical music, travelling and reading. Meeting people and
networking with them has become his habit now. Bhau due to his style, content and
humour is always the most sought after in his wide friend circle, be it political,
social or personal. Bhau belongs to the endangered species of human beings being
honest, helping and sincere.
