A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen

I. Creative: In groups, you will rewrite a scene from the play in a different time period. Although you
must write a script and read (or act out) your scene, your grade will depend on you and your group
demonstrating an analytical understanding of gender roles and characterization.

Make sure to include the following information in your script: time period, characters, character
descriptions (including costumes), stage directions, and of course dialogue.

The due date for the script and the performances will be Monday, May 9, 2016.

Content: Specific time period, characters, descriptions, stage directions, and appropriate dialogue is

Script: Contains no grammatical errors. ____/5

Analysis: Understanding of gender roles and characterization is evident. ____/15

Presentation: Reading or acting of the scene was accurate. ____/5

II. Essay: Create your own writing prompt and answer it in a five paragraph essay. You will develop a
coherent paper following MLA guidelines.

Be specific and use at least two quotes that support your ideas. Make sure you proofread and use
precise words (nouns, adjectives, verbs) that express your ideas.

This essay must be shared with me (with ability to edit) through GoogleDocs at all times. The final due
date for this is next Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

Question: Writing prompt is original, clear, thoughtful, and one that is able to be answered in a five
paragraph essay. ____/10

Content: Understanding of content and evidence of thematic development was extremely thorough.
Extensive details and relevant examples were used to answer the essay prompt. Includes two quotes
from the text. ____/20
Flow: All ideas were presented in a logical order. Introduction includes a hook and a clear thesis
statement, body included many details, and conclusion was relevant without being redundant. Writing
flowed smoothly throughout with excellent transitions, and the reader was able to expect or accept the
next point due to the use of appropriate transitions. ____/20

Mechanics: No spelling, grammar, capitalization or punctuation errors. ____/20

Style: Language is very clear and effective. Word choice and terminology are carefully considered and
precise within an array of sentence structures. ____/20

MLA Format: MLA guidelines are used and applied correctly: heading, title, page numbers, citations,
works cited list, etc. ____/10
