As you can see in my family lineage above, the places Tondo, Manila and La Huerta, Paranaque were repeated numerous times. Tondo, Manila is my
mothers home since then. My grandparents told me that they didnt originally came from Tondo. In fact, our ancestors were from Candelaria, Quezon. But
during that time, provinces here in the Philippines are not yet well developed. My mothers ancestors decided to test their fate here in Manila because they
believed that it is the center of everything here in the Philippines at that time. Although they came from a well-off family, they still believed that Manila has
a lot to offer. I asked my grandparents why did our ancestors choose to live here in Tondo of the places here in Manila. They told me that houses, lands, etc.
here in Tondo are cheap. While for my fathers side, they came from a Spanish Sacristan ancestor. Thats why their place is called La Huerta. It is a Spanish
term, which means fertile or irrigated land. The lands and properties that weve inherited from our Spanish ancestors were located around La Huerta; just
like the parking lot of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Up until now, most of my fathers relatives are still living in La Huerta because they want to
honor were we came from and preserve what our ancestors left us. As for my father, he decided to move here with my mother because they wanted to start
their own life and at the same time, my mother inherited a house here.
