GENERAL TRAINING INSTRUCT lONS
1, Training exercise willnormally be selected from those set forth in lEF-*IOA
and special training exercises listed below. Chronological Order of events
for current operation will be issued as Appendix 111 to this Annex.
2, All ships are urged to utilize every exercise period to the maximum to train
condition watch crews. 4
3. Carriers with target tow planes be prepared to furnish sleeve towing service
for the Task Group.
U» Ships are authorized and encouraged to make routine tests of ammunition
during gunnery training exercises.
5» When aircraft are providing towing services no ship shall fire unless the
plane is definitely making a firing run, which will be announced over the
tow control circuit hy the tow plane, Tow plane pilots should be briefed
nccordingly.

6. SPECIAL TRADING EXERCISES.
A# MANICURE Radar jamming exercises of two types, (l) jamming airborne
\ radar, (2) jamming surface radar. Instructions for each exercise will
be issued by despatch,

When "Offset" is scheduled for battleships, the battleships and three (3)
safe firing. The bearing "willbe prescribed. The senior battleship flag
"Offset" may be scheduled for cruisers and will be conducted in the same
manner.

(3) Description of Exercise,
Units engaged in exercise steam on base course, at a speed not
less than 15 knots. Planes will rendezvous and make runs directly,
at designated ship from beam, at altitudes requested by the con
trolling authority. Sight ports of director pointer and trainer
to be closed \u2666
C.I.C. track plane and coach director on. No sleeve will be stream*
ed, and there will be no firing. Planes call as assigned by TGC.
Runs should be made from bearings clear of ships and land masses,
if possible.

20 Special Search Plane Reports,

DESCRIPTIONS.
(1) Daily Fuel Report. A report of percentage of TOTAL BURNABLE capacity
on hand as of noon each day to be made by each ship to Type Command-*
er who willmake composite report to the Task Group Commander prior
1300, Carriers report direct and include percentage of aviation gas-
gas
oline on board as of noon.
(2) Dally APOB Rero^t. When Task Group has duty, the carrier designated
to make the f!lg&* will report direct in accordance instructions in
Paragraph 6111 of TFI-IA.
(3) Aerological Information Obtained 3ftrom Search planes* Report as

AGI REPORTS
(H) Strike Flash Reports. (TFI-IA, Paragraph 64.30)
(a) It is desired that the information required in Para
graph 6430, and additional information for the Task
Group Commander, be presented in the following form:
(l) Number of Airborne enemy aircraft encountered,
destroyed and damaged, including location. Ifnone,
so state.
(2) A brief report on all airfields observed during each
strike. First give the airfield number assigned by
CTF 58, then the airfield name. Second give the

decisions which in turn may determine the degree of
success of the operation.

(15) Dally Suamaifr Report. (TFI-IA, Paragraphs 6410, 6420, and
6421).
(a) Each carrier shall make a daily sunmary report to the
Task Group Commander in form provided in paragraph 6420
as follows; Paragraphs A through Iby .0600 and the re
maining paragraphs by 0900 of the day following each
strike.
(b) Under paragraph B of the daily summary, report photo
planes and photo escorts separately. Also report the
number of planes not on specific photo missions but
carrying cameras as supplementary cameras.
(c) Under paragraph G distinguish planes Jettisoned from
other types of operational loss.
(d) The fetter and principle laid down in U.S. Fltet 05 of
February 1944 and Pacific Fleet Letter 1SL-44 of 31
July 1944 shall be faithfully adhered to. In reporting

(16) Airfield Status* Report .
(TFI-IA, paragraphs 6440 and 6441).
(a) This report willbe subaitted on the task group tact*
ical frequency, channel X-ray (143.28 meg.) at 2100 on
• each strike day.
(b) This report is to be based on as much photo evidence
as is available at the time of submission. When no
photo information is available use pilot reports.
(c) Form of submission is to be identical with flash reports
