Dedication
This book is dedicated to our son, Curtis Allan Beane, who was bullied in seventh grade and high school. It is
also dedicated to our granddaughters, Emily Grace Turner and Sarah Gail Turner. Emily was born on the first
anniversary of Curtis death. She and Sarah have brought light into our darkness. It is our wish that this book
and those who use it will bring light into the darkness of children who are mistreated.
Acknowledgments
Grateful thanks are offered to everyone who has helped by providing advice, information, and comments
during the preparation of this book. We want to thank Free Spirit Publishing for believing in the project, and
we are especially thankful for Douglas Fehlens encouragement during the development process and for his
editing contributions. We are also grateful to Judy Galbraith for her support of Bully Free materials, and to
Michele Dettloff and Marieka Heinlen for their fine illustration and design work on the book.
