Course Description:
In Grade 6 Advanced Math, instructional time will focus on 1) ratios and rates of numbers, 2) division of
fractions and extending fraction knowledge to rational numbers which includes negative numbers, 3) writing,
interpreting and using expressions and equations, 4) statistical thinking, 5) understanding and applying
proportional relationships, and 6) understanding operations with rational numbers and working with
expressions and linear equations

Mandatory Materials:
Pencils
Highlighter (any color)
Textbook (physical textbook or online textbook)
o Actual text will be kept at school while current math unit pages will be kept in student binder
Loose-leaf paper (wide or college-ruled) (may also have the pre-printed AVID cornell-note paper)
Graph paper (will only need during the 2nd semester)

Tardies
Because class time is important and irreplaceable, it is important that you come to class every day. You must
be in your seat with all materials when the bell rings or you will be considered TARDY. Please refer to the
student handbook/agenda to reference our school tardy policy.

Make-Up Work Policy:

I DO NOT TAKE LATE WORK! The only work that can be made up is work missed due to an absence. It is up
to the student to obtain missed work from the day(s) missed from the teacher. Make-up work is due no later
than (5) five days after the student returns to school. After that they will receive a (0) zero.

Grading Policy:
Total accumulated points will determine grades. I will update Pinpoint no less than once a week. Grades will
be derived from the following types of assignments:
Mid-Term Exam Final Exam Binder Checks
Class Participation Quizzes Tests
Class Assignments Homework
