An Act to provide for the payment from
municipal funds of a portion of tho cost
of the police force employed in the City of
Madras and i n dl municipal towns within
the 8[State of T&rnilNadu].

Preamble. WHEREAS it is expedient that a portion of the oost of


the Police employed in the City of Madras, and in every
town brought under the operation of the PTowns M,&@
Improvement Act, 187 1 ( W a s ) , shall be defrayed Act m
from municipal funds ; It is hereby emoted as of 1871'
follows:-

Oommencement
1. This Act shall come into force on the-first day of

8. The Munioipal Commissioners for the City of Munioipal

ACT No. 20 OF 2008.

An Act to repeal the Tamil Nadu Municipal Police Act, 1878.


BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tam11 Nadu in the Fifty-ninth
Year of the Republ~cof India as follows:-
1. (i) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Municipal Police (Repeal) Act. 2008. Short title and
commence-
( i ~ ) It shall come tnto force at once. ment.
2. The Tam11Nadu Municipal Police Act, 1878 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Repeal.
Act) is hereby repealed.

3. All actions taken under the principal Act and all proceedings thereunder
pending Abatement of
immediately before the commencement of this Act before any authority shall abate. action taken.
