Full name: IMS: IP Multimedia Subsystem

Uses:

IMS is located at the core telecommunications network to

provide multimedia services to achieve integration of
communication (mobile, fixed telephone, computer
softphone, TV, etc.), while achieving phone call, instant
messaging, video conference, etc.

IMS network offer end to end solution capability, softswitch

will be evolved into AGCF in IMS network, IMS will be a
unified fixed-mobile convergent core network architecture.
